I like the second set in the wood finish. Although I like light furniture, I think all that "white" would be too much in your room. You said you like things to match, so get this set now and then look for an interesting piece for your tv. It doesn't have to be a large armoire, per se. You might want consider a tv hidden behind a picture over your fireplace?
It is a lovely room! I love the fireplace but it does present a bit of a decorating challenge in that it takes up that whole wall.

I way prefer the second set and probably in the wood finish rather than the white. I like the white but with all the windows and all that white it might just be too much "lightness" for a bedroom. (at least it would be for me). I like the smaller bedside tables. Although your room is a good size, you lose a lot of wall space with the windows, fire place and doors and too much big furniture may overwhelm the space.

I like the second set and I don't think you would go wrong with either the wood or the white. Although my personal preference would be for the white.

As for the TV armoire, you can hide a flat screen TV without one. There are mirror/TVs that look like mirrors until you turn the TV on. There are wall mounts that flip between a piece of art and the TV. There are sliding screens that can go over a wall mounted TV. There's even a lift that hides a TV under your bed and flips it out at the push of a button. So while you could get an armoire if that's where your heart leads you, there are a lot of other options that would take up less space and not require a piece of furniture.

And can I just say that your room, even empty, is just beautiful? I love the wall color and all the trim and the windows. And lucky you, to have a fireplace in your bedroom!

Are you a person who could get the in stock pieces into your room, then play the armoire a bit by ear? See what the space feels like and what you think would feel right for that piece? That's what I'd tend to do - but I know that doesn't work for everyone. :)

I bought a Lexington set in distressed white 10 years ago (Seaside Retreat), and I love, love, love my Lexington. My dresser is also huge but it makes a statement. I do not have an armoire, could never fit it in either this or my previous home. It is sturdy and built like like a tank, plus made in NC. Although I'm partial to the white, I think the wood finish would be more fabulous in your room.

Do you currently have a bed with or without a footboard? I'm just asking because you show two different styles, and in my experience the two styles "live" differently.

I find beds with footboards harder to make, and since DH and I are both tall we don't really like to have footboards. YMMV of course.

I also like that without a footboard, I don't have to worry about bumping into a corner when navigating the room in the dark.

However, if you like having a footboard, then I think the 2nd set is also very pretty.

I'd try using masking tape to map out on the floor how the pieces will all fit (or better yet, cardboard boxes) so you can get a feel for the sizing in the space.

chicagoans, yes - current bed is a sleigh bed, and it is a bit of a pain to make - but I've had a footboard in the last 3 beds, so I'm use it it at this point. I did use the masking tape - which helped me realize I needed a queen bed - right now floors are being refinished so we are not in the house!

Lovely furniture and you have an amazing room to showcase it! I much prefer the 2nd nightstand and would probably go with either two of those or one and something else entirely. The first one with the scalloped top trim doesn't seem to go as well with the lines of the bed. It also reminds me of a nursery changing table! ;-)

That room is so beautiful I'm sure either set will look great. But I have to ask...what are the sections of the dresser that have a lock on them? I find those locks distracting because I can't tell if they are on the front of a door or a drawer and where the handle to it is!

I think the second set is a great fit for your space, and I would do the wood finish given all the light and window space in the room.

I would do the bed and the large dresser, and the larger nightstand. Not a fan of the smaller nightstand - it doesn't seem like it would be that useful. Also, having something round or a an iron and glass piece would be a nice accent.

Finally, while I am not a fan in general of tvs over the fireplace, in this space that would seem to be the perfect choice. You could have the flat panel tv mounted, and a cabinet built to enclose it that would compliment the mantel woodwork.

Doing that would leave your room open, so that you could add a pair of chairs and and ottoman by the fireplace. It is a lovely space.

I think the wood tone or white would work. And I think you could use your TV armoire along with these pieces, whether you paint it or leave it as is. Its kind of nice to add in a piece that didn't come with the other furniture for an acquired-over-time look Also, I like the mixed style for the nightstands.

By the way, what is your paint color? It's very pretty.

i like the second set more. I like the wood dressers instead of the white painted dressers. I actually like the wood bed more too.

But I really like the contrast of the white bed with the wood dressers.

I for some reason think the Drexel Heritage dressers look too old fashioned.

Either set would work but I really like the second one and I agree with your husband's choice as it will really keep the room looking large and restful whereas the darker will close in the room a little more and also chop it up a bit. I love bedrooms in white, they're unisex and inviting but mostly calm. I too think the t.v. is fine over the fireplace. I have mine there and never bothered to cover it. It looks fine. Your room, either way, will be lovely. If you did it in light then I'd go with a linen type beige drapery or even a light on beige print. If dark then I'd try to match the wall paint.

i like the furniture too! i think either the wood tone or the white would look nice.

i don't care for the nightstand on wheels-looks like a serving cart that would just look cluttered in our room...the other nightstand looks abit small, but i prefer the look. (i would use the 2 smaller nightstands and get a king bed!)

i would definitely get the larger dresser-tight, but much nicer looking and more functional than the small one!

i would seriously consider mounting the tv over the fireplace and putting a chair where you want the armoire!

Thanks everyone for feedback! I really don't see mounting the TV over this fireplace, it is an old house, and these are real mason fireplaces, not fireboxes. The chimney is brick, all the way up.. there is no electric or anything available, so I really think my TV option is in that wall area.

I was just looking.. and see that this bed is available as a headboard only - maybe that is a better option... although, I most likely would have to buy the complete set to get the deal, it's a floor model, they are no longer going to stock.

busybee, If I was going to do a king bed, I'd keep my almost new (expensive) set, but I did tape it out on the floor, and it takes up WAY too much space, and would make the room too crowded.

This collection does have another night chest, larger than the other 2 I already posted (2" wider & taller than the table on wheels)

I've called them and put a deposit down, as someone else was seriously considering this set, but I can make a couple changes of the pieces if needed, they have other stores, and other pieces available.

I don't like footboards because I also knock into them, but if you are used to it, it can probably work for you.

Thanks for the color info, Tinker. For years I've had fairly dark, bold walls but I'm starting to gravitate toward more calm, peaceful colors.

I love the wood-tone(what type of wood is it?)furniture you've chosen! I've had a darker cherry for years, and this lighter color is very appealing. I *do* like the white also, but I would be afraid I might tire of it, or see it as more of a trend.

If you have space, I would use the larger of the two dressers(or just one)for nightstands. You can never have too many drawers. ;o)

You have 4 windows in your bedroom! How wonderful. I had four in my last master bedroom and I loved all the light. And I adore that you have a fireplace too. It's a pretty amazing room.

I may be the dissent here, but personally I really like the beds without the footboards -- the first Drexel one you showed and the last one (that's the one you have a deposit on right? I love that one).

I don't know how much you need the capacity of the biggest dresser, but I like the looks of the smaller one much better. The double dresser looks awkward to me. Do they make a taller version of the small dresser? Like the highboy dresser in the picture of the Drexel set?

I didn't read all the comments but wanted to say the second bed set is gorgeous and different.

The only draw back is the dust. We have a wood headboard that is not exactly like that but similar in some ways, every detail collects dust and it is hard to keep clean. Just something to consider.

I love the 2nd bed also. You could do wood tone on the bed and the white for the dressers? They are the same style, but would give you some contrast. Also, did I read right that the armoire you posted is already in the room, I think it would compliment the bed very well, even if it is a different wood tone. Good luck, and very pretty choices.

First, your bedroom is just beautiful. Love the paint and white trim. I think whatever you choose will look great. I have to say that I would vote for Lexington furniture. We have a Lexington antique oak bedroom suite that is almost 30 yrs old and it still looks fabulous. I did switch out the original headboard when we replaced our mattress going from a queen to a king. I wanted to add a different texture to our BR, so I went with a metal headboard. No footboard, we have the space, but also have two labs who wouldn't be able to jump up onto the bed if I were to use a footboard:).

As for the nightstands, I have similar nightstands to the narrower stands in your pics. However, ours have a top drawer and the bottom has a door. Tops are marble. The narrow night stands don't take up too much room, and for me that is a good thing. We have a very large bedroom, but definitely didn't want to over furnish. Also, those with wheels really don't appeal to me.

Can't say enough good things about the Lexington furniture. Everyone I know who owns Lexington pieces loves them.
