Ditto. I rinse them out, *dry with a roll of paper towels, put on handy/dandy plastic bag dryer that Peppi sent me. I keep used green bags in the cripser drawer in the refrig for convenience and to remind me to use them. I found some "yellow" bags that are suppose to do a better job. I can't report back yet as I've only had them a few weeks but preliminary usage indicates that they might last longer. *To dry all bags, I use a roll of paper towels that has about 1/4 of the towels left on the roll. I keep it in the pantry and when I need to dry a bag, I stick the mostly used roll of towels in the bag and move it around to aborb the moisture. I put the roll back in the pantry and it dries out by the next time I need to use it.

I bought some of the Debbie Meyer green bags last fall, used them on refrigerated items like carrots and celery and they worked fine, but I also used one for salad and that didn't work too well. However, I put potatoes in one and onions in another (not refrigerated) they grew a black mold all over them and felt slimy. I won't use any more of those bags, seems they must have some type of chemical inside them.

I usually use zip locks (after a couple slices are off)for just weekend baking but last Christmas I had picked up decorated ones from JoAnne's they were actually for cookie trays. after we tied them up had to trim them a little. I ended up making over 12 loaves - white, polish sweet, cinnamon, Houska, quick breads, didn't have much money (don't this year either! so a baking I will be in a week or so!!! Dough hooks on a mixer - a wonderful thing!

Some of my stuff stays better in the green bags and some don't. I watched someone demo these bags on tv and she told them to not close the tops of the bags, just to fold them over or leave them open. That's what I do now. I had the same experience as dotmom with bananas. Recently someone on another board said to just use the thin clear bags provided in the store for fruits/vegetables. She said to put them in the bags one or two at a time and squeeze out as much air as possible, twist in between, then twistie the bag. This is the second time I've tried it, and it seems to be working. The insides are not getting mushy. This is the 8th day for the bunch I got this time, and not a rotten one yet. I'll have to give it a few more tries though before I'm completely convinced. Shirley
