Thank you all. My day started, as always, with a latte in bed, thanks to Max. We are planning a nice snack dinner, shrimp, smoked salmon, cheese, an eggplant bruschetta, fresh veggies and fruit, and Champagne while we watch election returns. We voted by mail weeks ago and had no line at all to drop our ballots in a drive by mailbox. Last night's news said that between 61 and 70% of registered voters in Colorado had already mailed in ballots or done early on site voting. I think that is an amazing number and should insure short lines everywhere today. Later in the week we will have dinner out at one of our fav restaurants. Lee

Thank you all for the greetings and cards. They have really made me smile and be grateful for my friends here. I have had a quiet but lovely day, starting out with my Max-made lovely foamy latte in the morning. Then off to exercise on the treadmill. That is really paying off, last year on my birthday I still had three bar stools in the kitchen, at the sink, the stove and the counter, and I moved from one to another to sit while making dinner. This year I can cook dinner on my feet and the stools have gone away. Even though I still get tired at night, I can walk for five hours through a museum with only a lunch break. Max brought me lovely roses and a sweet card and we had fresh crab on large salads for a special lunch. We are putting off my birthday dinner for a week. Max is taking me to Montevideo, UR and Buenos Aires and we will have a celebration dinner there. We're both looking forward to the trip and seeing part of the world we have not been to. We're staying in those two cities, along with two days in Colonia, UR - all at sea level so I won't have any problems. Thank you for making my birthday so special. Lee

Thanks everyone, I had a wonderful day! I took the day off to spend it with DD. She relinquished kid duties to her DH and off we went to the outlet mall for some "girl" time! We returned to celebrate at Benihana with the entire family. The little guys love eating there and the fun atmosphere adds to the celebration. No dirty dishes, no tired cooks. A good time was had by all and I feel blessed with all the good wishes! Lars- Earlier this week, DH and I had an excellent dinner with friends at Casa del Mar's restaurant, "Catch". During the summer I had bought a coupon on Travelzoo for a prix fixe meal for two. The food was superior, we loved the laid back ambiance and the music in the lounge. Thank you all for the birthday wishes, I have had a lovely day. I slept in the extra hour and got up to find that Max got up early and had gone out quietly to get a lovely bouquet of pink roses for me. The flowers, a card, a latte and some pastries he picked up were waiting for me.

DMIL stopped over in the late morning with a card and a gift. Michael and our DIL and a number of friends called throughout the day (we are having a family celebration of all the fall birthdays a little later). We had a leisurely afternoon with the Sunday papers in the house and outside enjoying the lovely mid 70s sunshine.

Max and I went out to dinner to a restaurant we have been wanting to try. This is Boulder's restaurant week and loads of restaurants have great specials. For starters we had Caesar salad and homemade gnocchi with a delicate oven roasted tomato sauce and mozzarella bocconcini. I wish I could make gnocchi as tender as those were, oh geez, I wish I could make any kind of gnocchi. We both had braised pork osso bucco with figs and ragout of flagelets. We had the same dessert too, a divine chocolate truffle torte with fresh raspberries and blackberries, robed with a lavender syrup. We finished with a pot of French press decaf and talk of a little Port later at home. It was a lovely meal and a great opportunity to try a new restaurant.
