We recently moved to Florida. I dislike those white, plastic fences. They are so artificial looking, so bright they scream as you go up the street. I'm actually thinking of doing something similar. Our house is a greyish blue and I was thinking of staining the fence to match. I think the grey blends in to the landscape, doesn't scream and looks good with plants and trees. Go find out what's the best paint/stain for redwood. I do know that redwood bleeds through regular opaque stains. Cabot opaque stains can be tinted to Ben Moore colors but if you want to leave it natural, you'll probably want a clear coat of some kind. Do not trust any information you get about these stains from Lowe's or Home Depot, even though they sell it, the person helping you isn't always familiar with the product. Find yourself a stand- alone paint store that sells decking and siding stain. PS. Thompson's Weather Shield isn't the right product for this.

Hi there! Our house is half siding and half brick. We know we want to paint the brick with Romabio to match the light gray siding. My question is: How do we color match siding? It's not new siding, so we can't take a sample into the paint store. What works best in your experience to get the best paint match?

I would paint the doors. Any color. Without seeing the entire room, or see the colors you are working with throughout the home, I won't suggest a color. I would Beef up the trim moulding around the door(s) keep it white as the featured trim in the room. With the highlighting of the trim/wainscotting, I'd paint the walls a hint of color to show off the features. some fabric on the windows for texture? I would leave the bar the natural wood tone you have going. shelving in the alcove, nice... I would personally go with a black or Ebony shelf, but same... I don't know the look you're going for. Keep the woods in the same family, Is the floor carpet, or an area rug? I'd work on the flooring, Bars and carpet don't go.
