Really dark kitchen cabinets with natural or stained match interior?
Comments (6)I painted some of my IKEA cabinets to hide the fact that the lowers are white boxes vs the natural fake birch uppers. I wish I didn't because they are giant black holes. I'm so glad that every lower cabinet has drawers to offset that. The black hole under the sink is bad enough. I would suggest staying with a natural interior and avoid the extra cost of matching interior....See MoreDoes the exterior of a house have to match the interior?
Comments (32)beckysharp, I will be happy to post pictures eventually. There are some things that are still undone and I am embarrassed because I have asked the good people here for advice and am still dithering, like with the dining room, where I still have the track lighting and want a chandelier and can't decide between a few really good choices. Plus the window treatments are not finished and it's been an eon since they were ordered, problems with fabric, then problems with workroom, yada, yada....See Morematching interior/exterior doors
Comments (8)A powder room does not benefit from any barn door no matter the style of the door. Interior doors? Should match. An entry door is chosen to suit the exterior of the home. ..........and if the inside of that home will have a design intent somewhat unsuited, or wildly unexpected? Simple is best. The wood mission posted, has nothing in common with the entry door you posted, other than it IS a door. Design is editing. Don't "isolate" just to be different. Harmony is the good friend of unity. Too, there is nothing particularly "modern" about a mission/craftsman door. In OR out. I think you are a bit too much ......all over the place ......versus honed in on a feel and style for either interior or exterior....See MoreReplacing all interior doors - try to match trim stain or contrast?
Comments (7)I'd have to agree with @Erica Reiner on this. Contrasting stains will look appealing for the first two days you have it, after that it's an eyesore. Especially if you have two different wood grains on it. A solid paint with wood grain might have been something to give a second thought to! I am hoping the lack of skirting is all the way around, making the job of re-doing the trim easier on you! You could consider painting it. Or simply sanding the trim down to expose the wood underneath. Since the doors are hollow-core, there isn't much to do except for dumping them! You could also, in worst-case scenario, consider going trim on trim. As an Interior Designer, I'd suggest re-doing the trim from the ground up....See MoreRelated Professionals
