The fabrics are so pretty! I do, however, like the "larger" one the best. I think the next fabric is little too Christmas (but would probably look so pretty) and the third swatch is a little dark. I love the rod as well. If you are choosing between the two styles I liked the Tuscany one best. I think the 14 inch rods give a very pretty decorator feel but assumes you will never want to close the drapes. Also, with a double window I think you need the 8 feet rod to give substance to the drapes and not have them tightly gathered. It looks like a very pretty room.

They are all pretty, but I would not want to recommend any of them without seeing the other furnishings in the room. They each have a their own distinct feel, so it matters, imo, as to what other fabrics, colors, etc. are in the space. They are all fine with the wall color.

I also like the Tuscany style rod. I won't be closing the drapes so that is why I thought the shorter rod would work. I do agree that the double window would probably need something with more substance so I bet the 6 or 8 foot rod would work better.

Thanks for the extra pix. Of the three you showed, I think the top one is too large a plaid for the space and size of the windows. The smaller, lighter plaid seems too light compared to the tones of everything else in the space. I prefer the darker plaid on the bottom right, but I am wondering if there is any cream or lighter gold in it at all, as it is much darker in feel than the others, and might feel too dark in there.

As for the rods, if you are never going to close the window treatment, I would do the short rods on either side. Be sure to tell the person making them about how they are to be used, as that may change the size of the panel that you need - if they never have to be closed, they can perhaps be less wide. You also don't have a ton of wall space on either side, so you will be able to have a more controlled look with the short rods, imo.

Does the store by any chance allow you to check out bolts of fabric as they do at Calico Corners? That can be really helpful before finalizing your fabric choice. It would also be helpful to see a pic of the drapery choices next to your rug as it's hard to tell if the colors match.

Since you have such lovely trim I would also suggest the shorter rods to either side. If you are going with an 8' rod, just make sure it is long enough for the drapes to fully stack back--either behind the windows or the trim.

I vote for the largest swatch, also. I think that color combo complements your furniture and your rug. Would you mind sharing where you purchased your rug? I'm looking for a green, rust and tan rug for my dining room. TIA

Ladies, thank you so much for the advice. I went today and bought the drapes that were made from the largest swatch. I really could not beat the price and quality. I bought them for $108 a panel. I went to a different fabric store and picked out the same fabric. They gave me a price of $800 for the fabric and making them. I am going to go with the shorter rod. I just really like that look. Now the question is, do I buy the rings with the clips? The drapes have the pocket at the top so you can just slip the drapes onto the rod. Do I just slip them onto the rod? Which way do you think would look better?

Carol, I bought the rug at Pottery Barn outlet. If I had bought it from the store it would have been at least $800. I went to the outlet and they had it for $600 with 50% off so I got the rug for $300. I was so excited.

I would just slide them on the rods, since it is such a short rod and will never be spread out. The rings won't really add anything, imo.

Definately shir them on the shorter rod. It gives a richer look. I think rings would make them look skimpy. Post pics when you get them hung!
