Bill ?? I don't like my new tiled floor - re-tile?
Comments (1)He SHOULD be able to do it so it looks like the original installation. As for how happy he'll be about it (read that to say how much he'll charge you for it), I couldn't tell you, and of course, you'd have to know that before you can tell whether or not it's worth it. Wouldn't hurt to ask....See MoreWhat I don't like about my new kitchen
Comments (19)Would it be possible to remove the light fixture from the ceiling fan. I don't think the fan is the problem, it's light fixture. If you need the light, maybe a fixture that was one globe instead of three. Not sure what they are called. Sort of like this. . . Though the picture is from several years ago, my kitchen is still very much a work in progress. We moved it from a different part of the house, and didn't want to install new cabinets until everything else was done, as it's part of a total house gut/rebuild project. The good part is I've had a lot of time to decide what I like and don't like about my proposed layout. We just cut up the old cabinets and hung them "about" where the new stuff would go. This picture was taken as part of a joke, so ignore the power tools - I posted it to show how the color makes the fans much less noticable. BTW- the fridge got recessed into the back wall, so it does not stick out like that right now. We might get the cabinets done this winter . . . But now I'm thinking of getting a drop in cook top with a wall oven - back to the drawing board (and in the attic to run another cable). Cathy...See MoreHelp with back splash fo granite I don't like
Comments (20)How accurate are those photos for actual color? Would it serve better to draw out that squash gold or the gray? (Personally, I think there's more than enough of the pinky yellow.) Or introduce an accent that matches the wood? What feeling does the owner prefer: warm colors? cool colors? Are there other colors or patterns in the room that need to be considered? Formal or informal? Budget? DIY or pro install? Access to vendors? Personal preferences for materials? Has she taken the Sweeby test? Definitely avoid small mosaic glass tiles unless they're a trim band no more than 3 inches tall and positioned at least 10 inches above the counter and are a good match with the countertop. srg215's monocolor solution has a lot of wisdom to it, and the tile size is big enough to provide a larger, regular counterpoint (pun intended) to the countertop's irregular pattern. It defuses it, although his/her granite has fewer color tones than this one. Definitely recommend living with this for a while and perhaps trying out some colors and textures via paint, fabrics, kitchen objects, maybe wallpaper or stencil. Tile backsplashes are generally expensive enough and permanent enough to set this owner up with a second reason for dissatisfaction if she rushes into things....See MoreDon't like my granite backsplash above sink
Comments (6)Well, sorry I still have not taken pictures but I HAVE had that strip of granite pulled out.. I really felt it was distracting from my enjoyment of the granite as a whole since it just felt overwhelming. I'm much happier with it now -- I feel the room breathes more. But now I have the big dilemna -- what will I do for a backsplash! I will post pictures....See Moremichellemarie
