I wear a watch, if I have one. When my old one quit working, I used my cell phone clock for a while, until my husband gave me a new watch for Christmas. I like the watch better because it's handier. My cell phone 'sleeps' when not in use, so to look at that clock, I have to pull it out of my pocket and press a button to wake it up, so it's simpler and quicker to look at the watch.

I should add that my watch isn't really a fashionable accessory to me any more. My eyes started getting worse a few years ago, so now I wear a fairly big (not as big as a man's) watch with a round dial and large numbers so I can see it easily. Not nearly as pretty as the more feminine watches I used to wear. :-(

Always. I feel naked wihout one. My favorite is a beautiful stainless steel tank watch that my daughter gave me for Christmas several years ago.

Yes, digital, mens with the bigger numbers, but even then I can no longer make them out without my glasses. I have three alarm options, which I use all the time for things for reminders. Also, a timer that can be set for repeating indefinitely. This is GREAT when watering outside, and needing to move the hose.

I did for my whole life till about a year ago. I just decided to quit. And I did. And it was weird because like fran, I used to feel naked without one. But I don't have any really elegant watches, all my watches are ones I've bought cheap and wear for a while then throw out as they age.

For me, the biggest inconvenience of wearing a watch is getting a new battery. I hate doing that. I'd actually be happier winding it up like I used to do in the old days. In addition to that, as others have mentioned, my eyes are not able to see those tiny dials anymore so most of the pretty watches are now useless to me.

So now, I either look at my cell phone, or look at a clock. At home I have clocks in most rooms and at work there are clocks all over. When I don't have access to a clock or my cell for whatever reason, then heck, I just don't know the time. And I've found that rather relaxing!

I used to wear one 24/7 till all my joints started swelling so bad, now it hurts to have one on and many no longer fit. I do have one that I wear anytime I leave the house, I never look at my cell phone for time.
I love watches and have several, a few very nice ones but they no longer fit around my swollen wrists, I sure miss them.

I do b/c it's faster to get to than a cell or computer. It's right there--I'd feel naked w/o it.

I gave up on watches when I had cataract surgery last year - have the long distance vision of an eagle, but can't read my watch without putting on my cheater reading glasses. Too much trouble.

I seem to have an inborn, and fairly accurate, sense of time anyway without clocks or watches.

I have contact dermatitis so I can't wear jewelry. I wore earrings for a short time when Nita & Co. were here and I'm still itchy almost a month later. It's a curse, I tell you!

I haven't worn a watch in probably 15 years. Don't like the look, don't like getting a 'non-tanned' line underneath. Don't find it necessary. We have at least 2-3 clocks in every room of our house, I have a cell phone and pocket watch in my purse, my car has a clock on the dash. Pretty much everywhere you go these days there is a visible clock.

Sorry to mention this to those of you who love them, but these days, watches are considered to make one look old-fashioned. Younger folks never wear them around here. Could be a regional thing, of course.

I'm alergic to most metals...unless it's a high grade of gold....makes my wrist break out and itch. I own a gold plated watch...but it's gaudy(I flooded it diving). I also own a rubber banded mens watch...kinda BIG and manly....:0)

Like Monica, I don't wear one unless I'm going out. I don't LIKE my current daywear watch, a Citizen self-winding. I miss my wafer thin Seiko. Everything else feels 'clunky' to me now. After my shoes, my watch is the first thing I remove when I get home. I wish they'd make that Seiko again!

Here's an add-on for those of us who are married or widowed: Do you wear your wedding/engagement ring or rings? Always? Sometimes? Never? I take mine off at bedtime, but replace it again as soon as I am up. (My wedding band is welded to the band of my engagement diamond; one ring with two bands.)

No. I use my cell phone or my computer. Of course, it's harder to sneak a peek to see the time when you are in a seemingly unending meeting.

Yes, I have a cheap $5 one that I have had for 3 or 4 years. I need it for work as I need to record things in a log book and have to put down the time and if I am covering another persons break I need to get there on time.

Watches are to hot to wear in the summer so I bought an inexpensive pendant watch at Walmart. I removed the chain and put the watch on my purse as a pull for the zipper.

I haven't worn a watch in 15 years. I work at home on my computer and mostly use the computer clock and other clocks around the house.

When I go out, which isn't often, I use my cell phone.

Pretty well 24/7 - plain jane one, with black numbers on a white face.

I've had some digital ones - now sitting around here, somewhere, I think - non-operational for some time. And it wasn't just a battery that went "ker-plunk".

If the kids think that I look old-fashioned ... that's O.K. by me.

Thankful that the watch doesn't hurt my wrist ... cause allergic reaction, etc.

Another thing for which to be thankful: and I feel for you folks who have such problems.

If someone asks for the time, as someone did a day or so ago, I'm glad to give that person "the time of day" ...

... but not the day of the week or month (not from the watch, at least).

I no longer wear a watch. Every room of my house has a clock or some digital device plugged in that shows the tme (like my satellite TV) and there's always a clock available in public(my car radio,outdoor signs, in the hospital where I get treated). No need. I do own several watches. I wore one every day from abput age 7 (second grade) until I retired in 2005. i do own a watch, just don't need it all the time. (Pun intended).

I do, my everday watch has two faces so I can set it for two time zones. DH got it for me when son was in the middle east, I could know what time it was where he was. I can change the bands out to different colors, love it. I sometimes wear my mom's it's all diamonds, very expensive, so I don't wear it often.

I wear a watch when I am out of the house. We tried to buy our sons nice watches when they graduated from college, but by then they had quit wearing them (we had bought them less fancy watches when they were teens) and preferred the ease of using their cell phones.

We switched to satellite from cable tv when we moved to this apartment. What amazes me, is there's no clock on the satellite receiver box. Nada. I was so used to seeing it on the cable box.

DID wear a finger watch, but the battery is dead.

I have a watch. Quite often though I forget to put it on. To me it's a piece of jewelery. DH gave it to me for Xmas. It's a wide stainless steel bracelet with crystals on either side of the watch face. I love it. It's easier to check my wrist than dig my phone out of my purse.

When DH is with me, I just ask him the time. He goes nowhere without his watch.

I wear a watch. I feel naked without it. I began wearing one during my employment days - It was a necessity. I used it to remind me of meetings, etc.

After retirement, I kept wearing it. I love having the time, day, and date on my wrist. Helps on days when I get forgetful, Hidden in the watch are a few phone numbers, our anniversary date, and my wife's birthday. I use the stop watch fucntion for timing when cooking.

No I don't. I decided when I retired that I didn't need nor want to wear one. I have a couple but rarely wear them. In fact, the batteries are undoubtedly dead.

My favourite watch is a Citizen Eco. The battery keeps charged in daylight. Never runs out.

I have always worn a watch since I learned to tell time at a young age of 6. He said I had begged for one since I could talk. LOL My father told me if I learned to tell time he would buy me a watch for Christmas. My mother helped with the aide of a paperplate, for the face of the clock, numbers around the paper plate with minutes also, and a long and short hand that was able to turn around the face of the paperplate.(clock) For Christmas that year I received a beautiful Timex waterproof watch. I would not take it off. :-)

I still wear a watch most of the time to this day. I bathe in it, sleep in it..do not cook or wash any pots and pans in it, but everything else is fair game. I even garden in my everyday watch. I like to know the time of day...right when I want to know. LOL All my watches now are self-winding. They are a little more pricey than my first timex. But I would not mind one bit wearing a timex watch, as it lasted me for years. I finally lost it at the beach on vacation. I had just bought a new band for it, and I am thinking that somehow it had come unfastened and was a goner.

Beeohio, that is how I felt about the alarm clock. When my husband retired, I said no more alarms unless we are traveling. We got to where we were sleeping later and later so I set the cd alarm to 8 AM so I wake to music. I am usually awake by 7:30.

I wear a watch everyday. Would feel naked without one. I have 4 watches that I wear. 1 is a man's watch silver ahd gold in color. The other 3 have beaded bands and it depends on what I am wearing as to which watch I wear. I usually wear my man's watch for everyday wear.

Yes, I wear a watch. The style of watch I like finally came back and so I have several just in case they discontinue again I like the big,chunky clamp on style that looks like a bracelet.

No. I am bothered by jewelry. I only wear stud earrings. I used to like rings but I have a form of dermatitis that affects my fingers.

Even when I wore jewelry watches always seemed to get in my way. Before cell phones I used those little clip on watches or a necklace watch.

I stopped wearing a watch when I was in high school. There's always a clock around somewhere in places where I need to know the time, and the rest of the time I don't like to live by the clock anyway, preferring to do things whenever I feel inclined to do them.

Nowadays my mobile phone is my watch. I've seen polls that show the popularity of wearing watches has plummeted amongst younger people for this reason. As usual, I was way ahead of the trend :-)
