Honeysuckle: Inspired by Pantone's Color of the Year
13 ways homes can wear this confident shade of pink, Pantone's color of 2011

Pantone is the design industry standard for color identification, so when they annually pick the new colors to watch, you can bet people sit up and take note. With 2010 drawing to a close, the experts at Pantone set their sights on what’s to come in 2011. Their answer? Pink, and lots of it. They chose fuchsia-like ‘Honeysuckle’ as their Color of the Year for 2011. Below are a few home design projects that take the confident, fun color and translate it into rooms we would definitely consider winners—this year or any other.
A little bit of the color goes a long way. Two Eames rockers flourish against the dark background of this home.
This door gives guests an artful and vibrant first impression of the home within.
Instead of painting a whole room in the shade, how about one wall? It still makes a splash without overwhelming.
But if you're a die-hard honeysuckle fan, far be it from me to stop you from going whole-hog. Pantone says the hue "is encouraging and uplifting." In that case, consider this room an extra-strength mood improver.
Houzz user veronika uses bits of pink around her home as an accent color with neutrals and whites. The result is decidedly unfussy, and strikes an original note.

A peek of pink makes a completely different statement when neutral tones are replaced with bright turquoise and black.
This room has shades of the great Dorothy Draper, who had no qualms about using pink abundantly and often.
Consider the shade like a sweep of lipstick before leaving the house—the perfect finishing touch to a look.
Pink and polka dots? There's a lot of fun going on here—perfect for the young or young-at-heart.
Honeysuckle branches are tough to find at the florist, but pink tulips are readily available and a close match in color.
A bundle of carnations will do the trick, too.
How wonderful to incorporate pink into a kid's room without it screaming "girl!"? A few coats above the bed adds interest but maintains the mainly unisex feel of the room.
