Is it the cheap mandolin or what I'm trying to do with it?

I bought a sirloin strip and hardened it up just a little though the surface was still pretty unfrozen and tried to slice it on a cheap mandoline I bought at BBB.

I wanted to do this to be able to make philly cheese steaks at home. The Meijers meat counter person I asked about getting it sliced said no.

Anyway it didn't work, not even close. Is it the cheap mandolin? Or the fact that mandolins weren't really meant to do meat?
