My lunch was so good...but oh so bad!

Up here at the cottage and a little short on day to day fresh groceries. I'm up here doing roasted peppers, hot sauce, cabbage rols and 'kraut....got all the stuff for that but no bread etc.

So I had to go digging for lunch and ended up with canned brown beans to which I added some sliced weiners and topped with KETCHUP!!! It was so darn good...I mean really, realy good...... weiners and beans and ketchup , haven't had it in years ...so bad, but oh so good! I ate the whole mess up and was licking the bowl.

Promise tomorrow I will return to scratch but damn it was good!!!!!

I was rummaging around for a can of beans last night....I really reallyw anted just a little of those B and M canned baked beans....with ketchup and sweet pickles!
Didn't find a can though....but I did find another can of those chopped jalapenos..LOL!

I used to grow Stupice and prefer Matina which is a look alike in all ways except I think the taste is better and it too is early and productive and have tried Kimberly and Bloody Butcher as well. But what I currently like the best is Moravsky Div, which is very early and for me has great taste. There were four different Stupicka's developed in Czechoslovakia, two for outdoor growing and two for glass house growing. At another site there's been a very long thread about Moravsky Div and there appears to be some agreement with research done with Moravoseed and other places in Europe that Moravsky Div may be one of the indoor ones but grows great outside as well. In my experience the fruits of MD are a bit smaller than conventional Stupice or Matina but the taste is much much better and it has performed well for me in my area all summer. Below is a link to Tania's T-base for seed sources and I was the source of seed to Glecklers, Jeff Casey, Sandhill and Victory Seeds, where I usually send the best of what I've grown each year. I also send to Linda Sapp at TGS but she's very behind in trialing varieties right now. Glenn Drowns comment at Sandhill amused me b/c he notes in his catalog/website that he put out 4 inch transplants and had fruits 43 days later. No I don't know them, and my comments were harsh. Mainly because of that innocent little girl, now she will surely know that finances were part of the reason her Daddy hanged himself, and if it does not occur to her this year, within a few years and certainly when she's older, she'll most likely think back to her extravagant birthday party and blame herself. That is why I said what I did about her mother. That kid could have had a $15 cake from the grocery store, 8 friends and pin the tail on the donkey and been just as happy. That party was to indulge her mother's ego. But you know how I am about people not being personally responsible--and yes, it was his fault for not putting his foot down, but regardless as to how much she knew about their finances, her spending was over the top and vulgar. In fact, her life seemed vapid and vulgar, to me. As to many of them. Just what I deduce from what I'm shown, and what they agreed to be a part of. I don't know why I tune in when I do (haven't watched all the franchises, or any complete season) but it's like watching a train wreck.

Annie, I actually don't have a problem with Sebastian choosing to socialize rather then eat, well not with Sebastian anyway. I feel that part of why he is going to school is for the social part. I hate the way the schools devalue eating and socialization. The other problem is the cafeteria, actually it is a cafe-gym-atorium and it is loud and awful. All the kids prefer it when they have lunch in their classroom, at least according to my informal poll. lol, I have often had much with them in the cafeteria and once in the classroom. They were much better at eating while socializing in the classroom. The problem is lunch is when the teachers get a break. I would like teachers to eat with them and have their break during recess. My felling about food is make sure to feel good about everything you serve so it does not matter what they make a meal of. I told a friend of mine when we had 1 year olds, serve them good food and don't pay attention to what is on the floor or still on the tray. So long as you served it it counts. I don't even make my kids take a bite. I tried that once and the gaging etc was not worth it. Plus he had built up that he would not like it. I have told them if it is on their plate and they don't want it, don't talk about it. If they say something is disgusting I will require a bite, ignore it and I am fine. I just hate to have my food insulted ;-) Also they will need these manners for other peoples homes. My kids can have problems in the house of some peers as they are used to a certain level of food. They will not eat frozen pizza, super market rotisserie chicken ... We have friends who eat frozen pizza, when we go over to their house for pizza we bring dough, sauce etc. -Robin

Hi all! Had a lovely cool shower! My neighbors just gave me one of those detachable shower heads with the hose on it. They're moving and didn't need it. Last night Frank came over and put it on. It's been years since I've had one of those so it's a real treat! Then I had my lunch--Greek yogurt with a little granola, and my noon cup of coffee. :-). Finally went outside to get those pics for Caroline! So this is the house number we hung up on the side of the house. Underneath it are the stickers that are so tacky. We put a rope hanger on it and stuck a hook on the house with adhesive and then hung the sign on it: It's visible from the street, which was our main objective. Secondarily, we're going for a cottage look, so this was the first small step. Here's the "Cozy Cottage" sign we made and put up on a tree next to the street. It's also very visible and we think it's cute, lol! The second pic here was taken from the street. I know this wouldn't fit everyone's style or taste, but it works for us. I also wanted to mention that I was at the hardware store the other day and they had quite a variety of numbers, mostly metal and/or plastic, in black and kind of brass, that looked like you screw them into the post or wall. I could do that lunch and no need for silverware. Just scoop up the beans and dogs with potato chips....yum!

I remember eating Beanie Weanie when I was a kid. Loved it. Had to heat it up on the stove because we didn't get a microwave until I was 15 or so.

Mine was good and really bad. Cream of vegetable soup made with mostly whipping cream. Yum! Clog goes my arteries!

I love Spaghetti-O's. I can eat a whole can. Never tried adding Parmesan, but I do add pepper.
Another secret indulgence used to be a can of tamales heated up in a can of chili.

chase, I ate that exact dish for dinner last week, when DH was out of town, except I had a blob of yellow mustard to dip my weiner pieces in.
I sat down in front of the tv with my bowl; quick and easy dinner.

I might as well confess that I had a Mae West cake to top off that meal.
chase will know what I mean !! if I'm going to be bad, might as well be really bad.
