Well he's cute as a bug's ear...and the picture looks great...but I wonder if they will be able to use it for the year book.
I can't believe you didn't have professional photographers all over wanting to sell you a package.

Daniel lives with his father... need I say more? LOL! If anything came in the mail, I never saw it! I even asked Daniel for the packet of materials he must have received regarding all the senior stuff. Nada.

I printed it our per Daniel's request in the size he wanted on photo paper. I burned a CMYK hi res tiff and jpg to a CD and included that in the envelope. I'll hope for the best. If none of it translates, his school ID photo will appear in the yearbook. There will be a photo. (You know if this were Alice, she'd have booked the professional photographer two months ago and had 3 outfits picked out and a makeup artist on hand.)

That's the same "little" boy we've been watching grow up for the past few years?? What a change.

My sons' space in the yearbook also included a candid shot and a baby picture. I like this shot of Daniel better than those dumb posed ones from photographers.

I agree, it's a great picture of Daniel, but he looks so.....grown up. Sigh.

Ashley's senior picture was done by a studio but her best ones and the one she used for the yearbook, were done by my next door neighbor. She went out to the farm and took pictures with the horses, out in the pasture, down on the dock by the lake. The best one had her sitting on the dock with her hair blowing. The one for the yearbook had to be "head and shoulders" and so she took one that had her leaning against a tree with her hair blowing in the wind and the water behind her. It was better than any of the very expensive professional ones.

Aw, thanks! I'm not crazy about those posed shots either and I'd be a very tough client so it's probably best that I did it myself. Daniel only let me shoot so many. He thought one camera snap would cover it.

I have a friend/neighbor who is a "serious" ( equate that to expensive!) photographer who started out just like you did....taking pictures of her kids.,..then friends kids and then strangers kids, weddings and even some commercial stuff!
I just heard that someone had her do their son't senior pictures and the "whole package" meaning finished 8 by 10s for them and grand parents...huge array fo wallets, all the proof poses finished as 5 by 7s ( and there were 3 venues) plus the Cd of all the pictures....to the tune of $2200!!!
So....keep taking those pictures of those cute kids!

Linda, I have actually thought about working at being a portrait photographer. My sister is a "serious" and very good professional photographer in Phoenix. I hesitate because I don't want to ever step on her toes. It does interest me, though.

I think that's a wonderful photo and Daniel is really cute.

That is a lovely photo of Daniel, and he looks so handsome and kind. My favourite photo of my DD at that age is a candid shot I took while she was laughing as she cooked dinner on the barbecue while we were on a holiday. All her posed photos she had this weird smile like a fox trying to eat peanut butter out of a wire brush.

Great pic and a good lookin' young man for sure! I can't believe he is a senior already....same goes with my nephew. Man, time sure does fly by!

VERY handsome. My son did the senior photo thing with no problem, it was the rest of high school he didn't relate to! LOL And his ons, just turned 13, is starting to give him the same stuff. Revenge is sweet!

Barn, your son is very handsome and I think the pic is great and would not change a thing.

Our senior pictures were so corny. It was pouring rain for my photographer appointment and my hair was a mess. The photographer put a fake "flip", remember the flip from the 60s, at about shoulder level but in reality my hair was almost to my butt and 70s hippie style.

Oh well, I never cared for high school any how so it made little difference.

Jan, I do have paybacks to look forward to. My kids are much easier to get along with than I was but I always say I was the teenager my mother deserved! ;)

Michelle, I remember those stiff senior portraits with the off the shoulder drape that all looked alike. I can't believe the photographer gave you fake hair! How bizarre! I went to a small boarding school my last year of school and if there was a yearbook and senior photos, I was out of that loop. I graduated early anyway and was gone by March of that school year.

Shaun, I don't know what he was thinking but he was saying something along the line of "I want to go change. Aren't we done, yet? I think the first shot was fine (his eyes were closed)." So there is no mystery why I have 50 pics of Alice to every one of Daniel.

Well, I confess I missed the deadline on not one, not two, but all three of my children. I never got used to getting pics done professionally, cause my mother was a professional portrait photographer, and she always was taking pics of them. She slowed down by the time they got to highschool, and by then I just never thought of hiring anyone to do the pics. That's my excuse and I'm sticking by it.

I say you ought to seriously think about becoming a pro photog....Thinking of other pictures you have taken of your kids....youa re really good!
Now go find someone elses kids to photograph!....and then sell them the pictures.
