Before you replace the countertop, which works well with the flooring and the backsplash, have you considered painting the vanity and the trim around the mirror to match the rest of the trim - hopefully a warm creamy white, not a cold pure white, can't tell what it is with the picture.

White quartz usually is very white and harsh looking - I don't think it would work all that well with the rest of the room.

What is the tub front? It looks very dark in the picture.

Anyway, I would do a mock-up - put a warm white sheet or cardboard around the vanity, see how that looks. Swap out the pictures and experiment with some different colors there before you spend time and money on a new countertop.

A sheepskin/flokati rug would look good and very luxurious and cozy, I think. Not sure how easy it is to keep clean.

I see you don't want to repaint but do think that changing from the yellow (or gold) and adding a rug with colors would do a lot to reduce some of the brown quality you aren't liking.

I agree the snook. The yellow paint is the elephant in the room. Isn't that the resaon it is named the Winnie the Pooh room?

The following suggestions are for working with the yellow if it truly can't be painted any time soon. However, painting is absolutely the easiest, cheapest and best way to change the feel of the room. The yellow is really making the room seem browner that it is. A beautiful cream would help the browns look more neutral.

So, if you can't paint:

I second painting the vanity and mirror in a soft white and adding a colorful rug. I would also swap out the artwork next to the sink for something larger and colorful. Hang something colorful on the other side of the tub too. That will help distract from the yellow and brown by giving the eye something else to focus on. You can also pick up colors from artwork and rug for things like towels. Another quick fix is to replace the brownish shade over the tub with one that matches the trim.

I know you want to replace the counter, but I don't know that white quartz is the way to go. From the photos, it doesn't look like the backsplash relates to the floor or tub tile, except in color family, and adding a very different fourth finish isn't going to help it all feel cohesive. I think you need something that ties the tub tile, the floors and the backsplash together. That might be a challenge. Or maybe just bite the bullet and replace that backsplash too. The simplest thing to do would be a tile counter and backsplash that match the tub tile. Is there a shower in this room? Is it tiled?

You say you made some mistakes in the room. I think the yellow paint is what makes you think that. It just doesn't go with the other finishes and the other finishes are nice and they all go together well.

If I knew photoshop I would show you how great your other finishes are. I attached an image of a bathroom with travertine floors and a not-yellow wall color. This wall color would go with your floors, the vanity top, the seashells, the backsplash, the tub surround, the door and the trim.

Sorry. I know it isn't what you want to hear, but I think the yellow paint would be the first thing I would change -- and it's the cheapest and easiest. I would not use a sheepskin rug unless that is a seldom used bathroom. Perhaps not even then. Whatever you use should be washable.

I'm with the others...the first thing I thought of when I looked at the pic was that the yellow was wrong for the space. The counter, backsplash and wood tone all works together pretty well. Then I'd want to add softness around the tub with towels and window treatment...

Not fond of zebra or sheepskin for a bath...I'd really prefer to keep the color scheme going with the more natural tones of wood and soft green and taupes. It can go very organic in looks...

Sorry to say that I agree with the others on the paint color. I also wondered why the back splash over the counter top wasn't like the one over the tub area, which seems to relate well to the floor. I almost wondered if the last pic was in the same room!

I'd change the wall paint color and try to make the counter top back splash similar to that over the tub area. Good luck!

I agree with the others about the paint. We used a porcelain faux travertine in one of our baths and painted the walls a yellow/gold color. It resulted in my detesting the whole bathroom. I changed the walls to an off-white and the room looks completely different. I think you'll find the same thing if you change out the paint.

Add me to the list of not liking the yellow. I feel bad saying that too. :(

The browns you have in there would go well with taupe, as Annie said. Elegant color combination, IMO.

Add me to the list of changing the paint color - and I LOVE yellow! Something light like the color below, or that picks up on the lightest color in your backsplash, would make a world of difference.

I like the tile and the vanity. Please consider all the opinion to change the yellow. This is a very pleasant and classy bathroom

I love the yellow paint and have it in several rooms in my home, but I agree, it is not working here and it would be the easiest thing to change. My dh would not go for painting the cabinets, but I think he can "see the light" and go with painting the room. I think he hates this space more than I do!! I will have him read this thread and I am sure that you all will convince him!
I do want to upgrade the counter, it is laminate and I would like to update it with quartz or granite.
This is our master bath and it opens to our master bedroom, which is SW Bamboo Shoot. How does this affect the suggested paint colors that you are offering?

The color in the bathroom I linked is SW6106 Kilim Beige. I think it would work well with Bamboo Shoot.

I also dislike the yellow. It's the wrong color to go with the rest of the elements. And the lighting. And the bedroom.

Pick something else...taupe, cream, a soft green, a teal-ish blue, greige, navy....whatever. But I'd fix that wall color before I spent a penny on anything else.

Maybe find a fabulous patterned fabric that has some of the tile colors in it to use as a starting place?

Fix the color and then take a step back.

I'd lean toward a cream for the walls.

You can bring color in with your towels, rug, and even a valance over the tub window.

We hear you!! LOL!! Thanks so much!!! I talked with dh last night and he is OK to repaint! I had him read your comments. I am off to the paint store today, trying to find something that works with the Bamboo Shoot. DH would still prefer it if we could pick a color as opposed to a cream/beige, but he will go with whatever I feel works. So, off to the paint store I go! I'll be back with my colors and see what you all think!

I think a warm white or a cream (not beige!) would work best with the green and with the browns in the bathroom. There is nothing wrong with a nice shade of white, especially when surrounded by other accents like nice tile.
