How do you make your baked apples?

It is apple season again. Just went to a local apple orchard and got a bag of freshly picked apples. I like a tart firm apple like pippin, gravenstein, granny smith or gala. I core them then put in brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins and/or walnuts with a little apple juice pour over the top. After looking up recipes I noticed everyone seems to like it a different way. I guess I am a purist and make them the way my Mom did.

Back in H.S. I made them with cinnamon red hots candy. Didn't really like them that way. I have seen recipes using: white sugar, maple flavored syrup (yuck), maple syrup, honey, orange juice, nutmeg, cloves, apple pie spice, nuts. Some of the more strange combinations, or at least to me, was prunes, dates, Cheddar cheese, oats, coconut, mincemeat, caramels, strawberry pop, orange marmalade, whole fresh cranberries, vanilla and all kinds of booze.

So how do you make yours?
