This is my baked beans recipe:

2 31 oz. cans Campbells Pork and Beans
1 lb. bacon, chopped (hold aside 3-4 slices for top)
1 onion, chopped
2 1/2 C ketchup
1/2 C maple syrup
3 T mustard
1/2 C. brown sugar

Mix all ingredients together with hands (clean of course). Pour into 9 x 13 dish. Cover with reserved bacon slices, drizzle with maple syrup. Bake 325 3 1/2 hours.

I open a can of Bush's Baked Beans because I usually decide at the last minute that I want baked beans.

I put jalapenos in my baked beans... makes they extra spicy!

I will have to look up the meaty baked beans I like and post it later. They are yummy.

Used this recipe for a get-to-know party with group I was traveling to Ireland with. Everyone loved it.

Paula Deen's baked beans

4 (16-ounce) cans baked beans
1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1 cup molasses
1 cup BBQ sauce
2 tablespoon yellow or brown mustard
5 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
1 (6-ounce) can french-fried onions, crushed
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In large bowl, mix together beans, pineapple, molasses, BBQ sauce, mustard, 1/4 of the bacon, and 1/4 of the onions. Add some salt and pepper, to taste. Pour beans in 9 by 13-inch casserole dish and sprinkle remaining crushed onions and bacon on top. Cook in oven for 1 hour or until beans brown and bubble. Serve warm.

I open a can of Bush's original beans, put into a pot and add some pure Maple sugar. Stir and heat.

Texas Baked Beans:

Stick a ham bone (with meat attached) in a pot
Add some rinsed, hard, pinto or navy beans, say 2 cups
Cover with water

Boil 'til the cows come home (beans should be semi soft)
Try to find all the the bones from the ham bone and remove

Add 1/8 tsp. of Budweiser. Pour all into a big baking dish (juice and all).
Add probably two handfuls of brown sugar, a hand full of onions and 1 cup of catsup (ketchup). I stick in a dople of liquid smoke here.

Bake for a couple of hours on 300 degrees. Works good in a crock pot for all day too.

Finish off that Budweiser and enjoy.

I make my beans starting out with the cheapest pork and beans I can find. I used to find a brand called "Big Top" or something to do with a circus and they were really good. I dump them in a bowl with some chopped onion, lots of brown sugar, green pepper, a couple squirts of ketchup, a dab of mustard and a little salt and pepper. Pour in a greased casserole and top with bacon slices. After they've cooked a while and the fat has rendered from the bacon I give it a good stir and bake until they're done. I didn't used to add the green pepper, but found I really like it.

Monica, Bush makes a baked bean with maple syrup in them and they're delish!

I just don't like all that sweetness and neither does my husband...I like to just add the typical ingredients but no extra brown sugar because pork and beans are already almost too sweet as it is. OR I just make Ranch Style/Chili Beans, those we like better anyway. It just seems like everything is loaded with sugar these days...like honey BBQ sauce...yuck!

I make mine pretty much like Georgysmom, but I don't add maple syrup. I also use Van Camp's Pork and Beans. I don't measure I just add stuff.

Hamburger Easy Baked Beans

Brown one diced onion with 1/2 pound of ground beef. To that add:
1 large can (28 oz) B&M Baked Beans
1/2 c. catsup
2 tsp vinegar
1/4 c water

Stir together, and pour in greased casserole dish (2 quart). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min.

I've done the same thing as sheila, but have added liquid smoke.

If we are talking canned beans, bushes vegetarian beans taste better than their orinal pork & beans

To make my own I begin by baking a 12 or 15lb ham,,

When the ham is baked I remove the skin and save it for my beans.

After we have finished the ham I put the ham bone in the crock pot, then I take all the skin that I saved and cut it into 1" squares and put those in the crock pot. I then put two 1lb bags of dried navy or pinto beans in the pot (prefer one bag of each) and chop two or three large onions and toss them in. Add a 1/2tsp of chili powder, 1tsp of course black pepper and a cup of molassass. Turn the crock pot on high and cook for three to four hours (till the beans are done.) Sometimes I add a couple small cans of tomato paste too.

Note: when the beans cook down all those pieces of the ham skin will soften and have the same flavor and texture as the chunks of meat in cambels pork & beans.

Similar to bulldinkie's, but I use Grandma Brown's canned beans, to which I add cooked bacon, sauteed onion and molasses.

My Mom swore by Granda Browns. I can't find them in my local stores. I take Campbell's pork and beans, add bacon (cooked , drained and chopped), and a good amount of ketchup, mustard and molasses.

Similiar.....

2 cans Van Camps Beans
1/2 cup diced cooked bacon
1/2 cup diced cooked onion
2 TBL brown sugar
1/4 tsp seasoning salt

I use van de camps beans, maple cured. Add ground beef, ground yellow mustard, some bone suckin barbeque sauce to taste and lots of green peppers. I slow cook for a few hours and they always disappear.

If I don't open a can of Bush's beans then I use pork n beans with lots of chopped onions, catsup, brown sugar and slices of bacon on top.

Even people that don't like bakes beans like this recipe that I got from my MIL.

Several cans of Campbell's baked beans
Chopped onion
Chopped green pepper
Several squirts of yellow mustard
Several squirts of ketchup
Approx. 2 T Brown sugar
Turkey kalbosi sliced - I add lots

I add everything without measuring so use your best judgement. Mix all together in a large baking dish or foil container. Cover with foil (put slits in top) and baked in oven for an hour or so at 350.

Delish.
