Lindac, how DARE you insult one of our spammers.
I am aghast, (wink, wink).

Every morning my Inbox is filled with offers from sites where I have signed up. The best for me has been Groupon and I have gotten some great deals there. However, I only buy things I have been thinking of getting anyway. I really need to "unsubscribe" from some I never use. Thanks for the tip, Moni. I learned about Woot on the CF and got a great deal on a steam cleaner.

Cooperbailey, I never heard them called that until I read the article in House Beautiful. Woot just has one item each day usually for a cheap price. But OKL sales are typically 72 hrs and can be as much as 70% off designer retail. They have at least 2 or more items each day (M-F I think) RLL sales last 48 hrs and they have several new items each day (M-sat?). But the best bargains go fast and are quickly sold out. I have hesitated and then gone back only to find what I wanted gone. WARNING: It could be really easy to spend a bunch if you are prone to impulse shopping!

Heads Up on a Great Cookware Sale

If anyone is looking for a nonstick skillet/fry pan, may I recommend Scanpan (no affiliation btw!)? We'd been using DH's very old non-stick skillets on those occasions when a NS pan was warranted (mostly if DH was making himself some scrambled eggs on a weekend morning). Not only were the pans old, but the non stick surface was degrading (nicked or chipped in spots, that sort of thing), and I really didn't know if they were even safe to use any more. I did some research here on GW (checked out Scanpan, All Clad NS, Swiss Diamond, Le Creuset SS NS, etc.) and spoke with some of the guys at a nearby cooking store (one of whom is a good friend of ours and has and loves his Scanpan--his family uses theirs every day). I liked what I'd read and heard about Scanpan's performance (also, they are DW safe, you can use metal utensils in them, they are oven safe, and you can brown/sear in them, too). I've only used it once since I got it a couple weeks ago, just to try it out (nothing sticky so I can't speak for it's NS qualities!) and it was spotless just from a rinse, before I even touched it with the sponge. DH used it to make himself some eggs recently and said "I like the new pan." I guess that's good enough for me!

Lindsay, I quit buying Christmas presents. Last year, my daughter and her family got the unique present of my presence at Christmas. I didn't know where I would end up money wise, nor do they really need anything. I decided to stick to that. Neither of my girls, nor grand kids, nor my son in law will receive anything for Christmas. All have all they need, and can afford all they want. At Christmas last year I saw such an abundance of "stuff" being unwrapped... There is no way I will ever go back to Christmas shopping for anyone but me. I have never exchanged Christmas gifts with any of my friends... and if someone gives me something I will NOT feel like I have to give back, cause if they do, they break our rule. During my divorce I lost a lot of tools, and I am gifting myself to resupply. I love books, and found a really cool one on Amazon which I own now... plus I have a couple for the grand kids when they come at the end of the year. The scarves are my luxury as well as I need one, cause mine are still somewhere in storage... no telling which box... beside, they are "just acrylic". My income is small, and it has to last for everything. I am not going in debt. Moni

Moni is not a spammer, she's been on these forums for ages. She was well-intentioned, but did not anticipate Linda's objection.

Ditto Sushipup. Moni is a long time forum member. I'm a member of 1saleaday. There are certainly some bargains to be had. I get their emails. They aren't a problem for me. Sometimes I look, sometimes I do not.

I looked at this set of bargains. Tempting but I am flat out of storage space!

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Moni.

I don't get their emails. I used to be signed up, but during the last long vacation I unsubscribed.

However, I look in daily when I can. I like sharing the good deals.

Yes, you have to sign in/up for flash deals. Never had any spam because of it. NEVER!

and, flash deals have no shipping cost!

Sorry to offend you Linda. Please disregard future posts about great cook oriented deals from me.

oklamoni, you should change you name to SpammerMoni! I can't believe someone thought you were a spammer, obviously they don't come around much. You've been a member since 2005...HELLO! HAHAHA!

Moni...I wasn't saying you were a spammer...just that I couldn't see the link without joining....and I get easily 14 emails every day telling me about special deals....I could unsubscribe....but..How else would I know what books are cheap, how much off with no shipping I will get on nightwear, what new sock monkey toy is out there,....and what my favorite ebay sellers are offering?
And there is Woot!! and That Daily Deal, and what's on special at the wine store...and the coffee shop...
What is it on That Flash Sale? Food or kitchen equipment?

I wish etailers would realize that their sites would get a LOT more traffic if you didn't have to give your name and email before viewing their wares.

And lpod...a wise remark followed by a "wink" is no less offensive.

Linda, there were some great cookware, blender, etc. deals on that day.

I didn't really think you called me a spammer, I just think it isn't a big deal, to sign up, to get in. HONEST.

And, I have been here longer than 2005. I used to be here as giantcycle99 (lived in OKC back then), then tahlequahgardens (while living in Tahlequah), and the last time I renewed back when this was a pay place, I came up with OklaMoni (this happened, while I lived in Tulsa Oklahoma). I am back in Oklahoma City, and as OklaMoni, fit in as long as I stay in Oklahoma. :)

Like I said, if you don't want to sign in, scroll on by.
