'Flash Sales'

In the Oct. issue of House Beautiful there was a little article on Flash Sales- sales that happen for a short period of time. I had heard of Woot from the Kitchen Table forum (I bought my MIL a Rhoomba a few years ago).I really like Rue La La and have made a couple of purchases. There are a few things I'm kicking myself for not buying! The other one from HB is One Kings Lane. I haven't bought anything from them yet. But today, Pur cashmere throws are listed and I thought of Meg's thread on the other side. Much of the time the items are soo expensive that even at half price I'm not interested. These 2 sites have home decor items, clothes, handbags, jewelry and sometimes vacation deals. I was wondering if anyone knows of other flash sale sites especially for home decor items.

How funny - I just posted on the other side about OKL for the high end throw - couldn't remember who originally posted that!

Oh how funny. I see you agree with me that some things are still a bit over the top price-wise. That's why I like Rue La La better. Most of the time they are more affordable. I'm looking forward to some of the up coming sales.

I saw a couple pairs I liked, but how do you know what size to order? I didn't see a size chart to indicate what is S, M, L or XL and whether they are mens or ladies sizes.

I honestly think they are starting to hear about their prices being so high. Now they are having decent sales. Before they would brag about a sale only to find the roses were only like $2 off. But 20% is decent. That comes to about $32 for most roses. With shipping that’s still pretty expensive (chamblees is $18 when you include shipping), but it’s not much more than say RVRs who sell bands for $20 before shipping. (Still pricey, but not insane).

Yes, I have noticed considerable fluctuation in pricing in all the Wayfair companies. I did think their Way Day sale was phenomenal but I did not purchase because indecision is real. I also have used google to search for items if I have the manufacturer name (the item name frequently changes even within the Wayfair companies) and have found variability on that. I did order something from BirchLane a few weeks ago and after I had checked all the deals and discounts I found sometimes a cheaper price would then charge for shipping. I have been using the program HONEY and that also does searches and told me this was the best deal. Anyway now of course I am sorry I didn't bite the bullet and order some major items during their sale. There were a few which were maybe $700 usually and on Way Day were like $450. Now it kills me to see it at $700 so this is a good reminder to kind of wait and see.

Check your hotmail. Today's bargains weren't for me but I just opened the box with slippers for DH that are so nice and I paid less than I would have at ll bean. I also bought some kitchen items that I love. I have googled to search for better prices on the items I bought and couldn't even come close. I am eager to see what prices will be like on Vera Wang by Wedgwood and the Frontgate sale.

Cooperbailey, I never heard them called that until I read the article in House Beautiful. Woot just has one item each day usually for a cheap price. But OKL sales are typically 72 hrs and can be as much as 70% off designer retail. They have at least 2 or more items each day (M-F I think) RLL sales last 48 hrs and they have several new items each day (M-sat?). But the best bargains go fast and are quickly sold out. I have hesitated and then gone back only to find what I wanted gone. WARNING: It could be really easy to spend a bunch if you are prone to impulse shopping!

I checked out the sites and everything still seems really expensive, even with the discount. I really like Hautelook better, at least their prices seem a little more affordable.

Nan53- well to be honest Hautelook has some pretty expensive items right now too. I guess when I meant affordable I meant that you can buy some items for under 50.00.

I did like the home site, I'll check back again and see if they have any less expensive items at a later date. I can't justify to my DH spending over 100.00 for a throw pillow. LOL.

Well I was tempted by a 25" copper Christmas tree this morning, only because I have a $25 credit (I think they give you that when you join). But, I passed. There are too many other places to put my $$ this time of year.

I belong to One Kings Lane, RueLala, Guilt, HauteLook, and Ideeli. There might be more...I hear of most through blogs. I only check OKL, RueLala, Guilt, and Ideeli.

I got a Serena & Lily pillow for $29 off Guilt the other day. It was out of stock on the Serena & Lily website. :)

I'm hoping today we get a good deal on a Flash Sale. I order my dh's dress shirts online from Jos A. Banks, and today I got an email saying "Buy 1 suit, get 2 free." Just last night dh said he needed new suits. I called the store and they're having a ONE DAY ONLY sale on these suits, so dh is on his way there now from the office to check it out.

He's so picky though, 10 bucks he doesn't get anything. lol
