Comments (4)Very nice photos, thanks for the link! Although those prices for prints are quite pompous, almost devalues the point of the story/pics. I'd agree don't let tree names hold you back. The web and members are here to help. Only place you're likely to get blasted for nomenclature is the conifer forum!lol...See MorePogo and Annie (a very short photo essay)
Comments (8)She really is. I rescued them from my neighbor's barn when Pogo was a little kitten. He and Annie were a devoted nursing couple, but after he weaned she wanted no part of him. When he'd try to initiate play, she would hiss at him and attack. He hardly ever approaches her anymore. It's sad, because they're the only two house cats now, and Pogo would love to have a playmate. Right now my two elderly dogs require a lot of my attention, but maybe when they go I'll consider adopting another kitty. Of course, there's no guarantee Pogo and the new one would become fast friends . . . Annie's personality might have been affected by an illness she had shortly after I brought her here. Her liver enzymes were so bad that the vet refused to spay her. After she recovered (and was spayed), he told me he hadn't expected her to pull through. Ever since then she's been a little odd--sometimes seeking out attention, other times cringing if I try to touch her. When I first met Annie, I was brushing a huge amount of snow off my car. Not knowing she was at my feet, I buried her in it. But she just removed herself, shook herself off, and rubbed against my legs, purring. She has not exhibited that level of outgoingness and affection since her illness. But she seems pretty happy otherwise. She loves soft beds and warmth, two things she never had as my neighbor's barn cat....See MorePhoto Essay 1: Huntington Botanical Gardens (several pics)
Comments (11)Lindsey, both my old and new cameras are Olympus. The old one is a 10x zoom and the new is an 18x zoom. The old camera had better depth and clarity. Photos from the new camera don't have the wow factor that the old has. I look at photos of my recent trip to Alaska taken with the new camera and they are flat and blurry looking to me. I have been blaming it on the cold but then I remembered that the photos I took in Antarctica with the old camera were in a very cold environment as well and took stunning photos. I dropped my old camera a couple years ago and the battery cover broke. That I fixed with duct tape but I think it messed up the zoom a little as well. Jodi-...See Morecalliope
