I have a Canon printer/copier/fax machine. I love mine because it's wireless. So I can sit outside on the porch swing with my laptop and send a print job to the back of the house where my printer is.

I have an HP Photosmart printer/scan/copier. I love the "photosmart" feature for uploading photos from my cameras.

Mine is a Brother all-in-one copier/scanner/Fax/Printer - cost under $100 - a couple of years ago, and works great. ...including a USB port to read photos from a USB data key, and a smart card to read from a camera.

I learned years ago to stay away from HP products.

I love my HP products - have out done the other products I have used.

I do stay away from the all-in-one's though, because when one part craps out, you have to replace the whole thing. I do understand the space saving part of it though - it takes more space with sep. components.

I have an Epson scanner that also does slides and negatives and a HP PhotoSmart printer that takes the 02 tanks. I would have purchased a HP scanner - but I loved the slide/negative part of the Epson scanner, and HP didn't have one in that price range.

Check out some of the new HP Photosmarts - you might be able to keep your 02 tanks.

I really like laser printers unless you do color, but if you do a lot they're still cheaper and less hassle than inkjets. I like the space savings of an all-in-one and looked at one at Target. I'm curious about the Kodak printers. They're comparable in price to HP but the ink is much cheaper than others. That's one of their advertisements. Don't know anyone personally who has one but the reviews I've read have been favorable.

I have a Brother HP2040 laser and it's great, but of course it's black only. I also have an old Epson inkjet that I bought for $3 at a garage sale but it's not working right - ink dried up from non-use. I go in streaks where I'll print 100 sheets or more in a couple days, then won't print anything for 4 or 5 months. Bought the laser right when I was required to do a lot of printing for work but that changed shortly after I got the printer! But I don't regret getting it.

I still have need for faxing on occasion so I would want the fax capability in it, and I think the copier function would be handy. I usually use a scanner and printer for quick copies. And use my XP unit for faxing from the computer on occasion or receiving if need be and I have a fax machine for sending too. Way more than you wanted to know, huh? LOL

I'll say this about HP. Generally they're good quality but they have big issues with drivers and software. They can really make a mess out of a machine when things go wrong. I've had to straighten out a lot of units and HP is far more problematic in this regard than others. However, when they work properly they're usually pretty good units. But from my experiences I'd personally avoid them. I'd rather work on their problems when I'm billing for it rather than my own time.

My step-father has a Kodak that he bought based on their ads of ink costing so much less. The ink costs a lot less than HP, Brother etc, BUT the printer stops printing when it thinks the ink is low. He looks at it on the computer and it says that there is still about 40% ink in the cartridge, but you can't jig the computer to read an accurate amount and it won't print, no matter what.
This is a common complaint with them. None of us would buy Kodak because of that.

I still have my first printer from 1999, an HP 832, and it's working flawlessly. I have an HP laser as well, just because I thought it would be cool to have one and had a $50 gift card.

Jasdip, Thanks for the info. What happens if you pull the cartridge out and reinsert it? Ran into a few printers where it would assume there's a new cartridge in it if you pull it and replace it. Sometimes you needed to recycle the printer between pulling and inserting.

No doubt the OLD HPs from the 90s were workhorses. A friend still has a Laserjet IIp that is still going strong. Weighs a ton and takes a long time to print by comparison, but reliable. And the old Texas Instruments Microwriters were fantastic too.

Don't get any HP that uses the 02 cartridges. My local Offix Max said the 02 cartridges were being discontinued, but will be carried for awhile for the older printers.

I just replaced my HP Photosmart 3210 printer with 02 cartridges. It was still working, but the alignment feature had failed - diagnostices pointed to a failed optical sensor and it would have to be shipped back to a service center. I didn't bother with sending in an obsolete printer, but applied the money on a new one before my present printer quit altogether. Interestingly, HP never mentioned anything about it being obsolete when they recommended to send it in. I learned about that from my local supplier.

The newer 564 inks are more smudge proof than the 02 formulation.

I just replaced my HP Photosmart 1000 printer (at LEAST 10 years old if not more!) with an HP Wireless all-in-one Photosmart mdoel, C4780. It prints outstanding color photos, and is very easy to use. Since it's wireless, anyone visiting who has their laptop with them, can hook up and print easily. That's very nice!

At one point, I had an Epson photo printer but the colors never printed true. I bought new cartridges for it, and had the same problem. So I gave it to my son who use uses it for b & w printing.

All wireless printers are accessible by anyone who can log into your home or office wireless network.

The nicest benefit, tho is the fact that you can place your printer anywhere in the house where there is a phone jack (for faxing) it doesn't need to be plugged into any computer or laptop.

That's a bummer to hear they are phasing out the 02 carts. I like having the different tanks.

I have not heard anyone who likes the Kodak printers. Same complaint as listed above. Ink tanks are cheaper, but they quit early - and some don't work at all. At one of the craft boards I go to, the comments on the Kodak printers were not good at all. Many didn't even work right out of the box.

You have to watch the size of tanks. Some are cheaper, but don't have much in them.

Not my printer. It is a small Canon - only feature is printing, which is fine. But I hate that it requires one colour and one black inkjet to operate. Despite the fact that I have "instructed" the thing to print only in black, it ignores me - as did my previous Lexmark printer. I find it very frustrating to not be able to print because say the colour inkjet is low, but the black is full - or the black is empty and colour is full (this is worse) - just wish I could put 2 blacks in it - but it won't work - I tried it. I pay now about $11 Cdn. for the black cartridge but had to pay $25 Cdn. the other day for a new colour cartridge. I won't buy the duos because they are often dry (funny how the singles are always sold out, but the duos sit there - and when I was working I had a few dry cartridges at the office). Must say the prices for printers in the U.S. sound pretty good to me.
