I messed up my printers....I need help...long

I don't know if I can even explain it.

A friend wanted to use the printer...I told her to hit the button for selected item...I guess she didn't so it wanted to print something like 24 pages.

I pulled the paper out so it thought it was out of paper. I clicked on the icon for the printer so I could cancel the pending document. It wouldn't cancel.

So I played around trying to figure out something.

I transfered it to my other printer that is also connected to this computer. (don't ask me why...I can't remember why I did that...but that printer is out of ink)

Next time I turned on computer the second printer started shooting out all the paper, one piece at a time, with maybe a couple lines faintly printed. I had paper all over the floor. I think if I had a hundred sheets in there it would have shot them all out.

Anyway now...because of the transfer, even if I click on the other printer to be printer of choice, it sends it to the printer that is out of ink. The other printer is set as the default printer.

But the other printer won't print because it has a document pending and I can't delete it...

I'm going nuts here.

I'm thinking I need to delete both printers and reinstall...but I don't know how.

Okay now that you know what a mess I am...ya think you can help me?

Try turning the printer off then on. That sometimes helps when we have that problem. And sometimes not. Computers and printers can be so STUPID sometimes!

Patti - try this.

Go to the START button. Click on that to bring up the start MENU. Select PRINTERS from there. Double click on the PRINTER - and it will bring up a new window. Click on PRINTER (at the left of the toolbar on that window)and select "Cancel all documents"

Do this for all the printers.

Hopefully this will clear it up.

Otherwise - unplug your printers (power plugs) and reboot your computer. Plug the power plug back in and it should all be cleared.

It is likely you will get blooms because they were formed before the bulbs lost their leaves last season. What might happen, though, is that they won't last long in flower with the high temperatures you're experiencing. (75F) That much warmth reminds bulbs to finish with the fancy florals and get ready for dormancy to survive the heat ahead. I suspect that's why you fridge them - so they're primed to take advantage of the very short spring between the end of winter and the onset of long summer. (Our spring tends to meander along between August and November, with only the northern parts rushing into warmer days.)

"Pulled them out"? Literally? The best way to transplant is to just transfer the entire root ball to a larger container and add more soil media under and around it. Try to keep the root ball intact to avoid root damage. You'll have to wait and see if you damaged too much of the plant. It shouldn't take long if you did much damage. Sue

I would think that if you put a LOT of weight over a shallow root system it may affect it. So try to stack them not too high - a few layers. Just a gut feeling, I have no proof of that. The other thing is oxygen - if you completely cover the soil around a plant doesn't that keep air out of the shallow soil? Although trees grow right next to pavement and in small holes in the sidewalks in cities so what do I know.

Foam is not a proper substitute for sill flashing. Pull the door and have it done correctly.

Start
Control panel
printers and faxes>open
from there you should see what is in the queue
Click on printer at the top there, and you should be given the choice to 'cancel' printing.

or at least that is the way mine works.

I'll try the unplugging of the printers...but I have hit every "cancel" and it doesn't work.

I just won't cancel...

Okay I tried that...but everything is still transfered to the printer that is out of ink.

We even deleted that printer. When I rebooted the printer that was deleted came back . AND the document is still stuck in query (sp?)

And the printer that is out of ink...started shooting paper out again...with a letter or two printed on each page...but no real words...

So do you think I'll have to go to the remove programs and erase all traces of the computer and reinstall?

What IowaGirl and ChemoCurl wrote will work. It's the only way to cancel your print job. Unplugging the printer won't do work because the computer will continue spooling the print command.

So, cancel the print as explained above. The problem is it takes so long for it to cancel, so you will have to restart the computer for the cancel command to take effect. The dreaded problem I have with WindowsXP is doing it the one time doesn't work. If the first time doesn't work, restart the computer and do it a second time. Then restart again. Otherwise, you just have to sit and wait for the print job to cancel.

Just saw you last post. Removing the printer is not necessary. Cancel print job, restart. If needed, cancel again and restart again.
