Lots of times!! I made my DS's 1st birthday cake & it ended up with plastic train on it. I was glad it was only family seeing it!! I took lessons on cake decorating & got so I made all the cakes for weddings, showers etc at church. Crafting or decorating is learning how & having a good eye & sometimes even that doesn't work. If you have some 20 or 24 gauge wire & some beads(old necklace that broke etc) you could put about 8 wires with beads every inch with a loop on both sides of bead going across leave center area plain& wire on heart thereby filling in the heart kind of like a spider web but nicer,where wires all meet in center of heart add a couple of 1/2 marbles 1 to each side, Put a wire on top & hang in the wind for a sun catcher!! I was given some afghans to finish by GF's husband after she died. Well, she was right handed & I'm left, normally not a problem only I was supposed to start where I usually end. I had to find friends to make them up & they did & used them. If I had refused them, her hubby would have thrown them away. My crochet looks different but I wasn't going to throw them out. They were more than 1/2 done with the rest of yarn to match. Now they all remember Lora Mae every time they cuddle up in winter. I got some other things I could use & did. So it turned out well. You can use any color on the wires, about 4 beads to each wire, 2 before center(leave free for the 1/2 marble to be glued on) 2 going to far side of heart. About 32 beads total!! Thanks Kim. I wish we had made it to Perfect Perennials and Herr's. We will make a date for next summer for sure. I'm excited to see your seedlings bloom too. This was my first year with seedlings blooming and it was amazing. I have at least 10 that are keepers for now, and I can't wait to see what they do next year. Now if I could just win the lottery and get some acreage to put all these seedlngs I want to try. I've made at least 2000 seed pods this summer, and have started to harvest and dry. I'm almost ready to start selling them on the LA. What a job. It is a labor of love, as it would never pay all the time and energy that goes into it, of course, unless I create the next great new and different daylily. I know, dream on... Nina

DH bought a car with OnStar last Fall. This is our first trip away from Southeast Michigan with it. We went down to Ohio and across I90 through the far northwest corner of Pennsylvania to New York. Our first stop was at Binghamton, where an old college friend of mine lives. (Isn't funny how you can not see someone in 15 years and within minutes you are right back there, chatting as friends. What was supposed to be a two-hour brunch turned into an all day stay as we shared our lives! DH missed seeing the Baseball Hall of Fame that was on the agenda for the afternoon, so we have to make it up later.) When leaving our own neighborhood at the start of the trip, DH pulled into a shopping center and asked OnStar to send us to Binghamton, NY. It wanted to send us through Ontario, Canada. That was a fine route, 40 minutes shorter than the route we took - but only if there were no international crossings to negotiate. There are two, one in Detroit/Windsor, and one at Niagara Falls. We were fairly certain that the two crossings would consume far more than 40 minutes on the last weekend of the summer! Well, Onstar could not help us. It insisted on only that route, so we had to wait until we were in Ohio to ask OnStar to give us the correct route to Binghamton! The system was a bit bothersome, sometimes telling you incorrectly the name of a road you were on. "Take 36 West to Summer street and turn left. Continue for 4 miles until Summer St. becomes Union St. Travel for 3 tenths of a mile, then turn right onto North Rd." Well, Union St. would never appear, and like a true dysfunctional family member, OnStar would act like it knew the right name all along, once you got past that section. "Travel 3 tenths of a mile on Summer St, then turn right onto North Rd." It did save us when we were "confused" about what route to take. After Binghamton, we went to an inn on the Hudson River. We took a drive at lunch and visited the town of New Paltz. Our route back to our Inn had a detour and the instructions on the road signs were confusing to the dear H, and he asked for OnStar to come on and direct us back to our route. It worked fine. The road signs had taken us to a semi-deserted downtown area, and dropped us there without a clue about where to turn next. OnStar played the little "I will rename this block in honor of one of my programmer's dear great-uncles, who passed away during my beta testing," trick, but we were onto it by then and ignored the faux-street name change. Oakley, sorry you're going thru this. As bad as it is, it could have been a lot worse :( Yes, I've been given the wrong medication but even worse, the wrong medication was given to my daughter when she was just a child. But, being the proactive type, I always check meds before taking them. Before the Internet and Google, I used a PDR to reference drugs. It was the same pharmacist both times. I tore into him when he gave my daughter the wrong medication and complained to the store management. This guy seemed to be on too many drugs himself! Found out later there were many complaints against him and soon after he was fired. Being in the hospital is so darn dangerous anymore (well has been for many many years). Superbugs, overworked staff, staff on drugs, under educated staff...you can't leave a loved one in the hospital by themselves. Someone needs to be their advocate. DH has been in the hospital exactly 2x. The first was for a crushed heel. The care (or lack of) and staff was so atrocious I spent most of my time in the administrator's office :o I later filed a complaint with the state board of health and after reviewing my complaints and finding them valid, they zeroed out his bill. The 2nd time was for a double bypass. EXCELLENT care this time around in a much better hospital (Louis and Peaches Heart Hospital in Tyler, TX). Everyone from the janitorial crew to the surgeon and his cutting edge bypass procedure and the sharp as a tack nurturing and caring nurses. You would have thought he was their only patient. I've been taking pro-biotics daily for a few years. There is no doubt in my mind they prevent all kinds of illnesses. A happy gut full of good bacteria is a good thing :) I have a friend that got C-diff in the hospital. Hers became so bad she needed the bowel transplant. My mother also contracted it in the hospital, I think during an oblation for A-fib. She didn't have the bowel transplant but it took her months to get over it.
