Coming out of lurkdom to comment :) I LOVE that furniture! How fun to decorate for a little girl. I think it would look fantastic painted white/cream with a hint of the seafoam showing though on the edges. If you're going for the shabby chic look. Will you change the pulls on the desk to match the chest? And I also vote for the nightstand. It's perfect in my mind! Can't wait to see the finished room.

What a great find! The night stand will go beautifully once it is painted, but I'm not crazy about the chair with the rest. It looks more like an old kitchen chair and seems a little heavy and solid. I think white would be pretty, although I actually like the seafoam and think it is more funky. I would, however, paint the top of the desk to match and then buy a pretty blotter to put on it. Either fabric would work, so I would let DD choose! I agree that a white rug with the seafoam pieces, draperies, and white blinds would look smashing. If you can find something soft and washable, that would work. I have white rugs in our guest/hall bath that need washing pretty often, but they are holding up really well. The room could also be a "shoes-free" zone which would help. Our whole house had a "no shoes" rule when the kids were growing up and it is amazing how that helps keep things cleaner! Can't wait to see finished pics!

Then there is this daybed in link below for sale. I need to decide soon if we want it since seller claims to have other interested buyers. I love the look, but am concerned this is too much for her small room (10'x10') plus the back arch would go above the window sil. Sil height is 47" and back ranges from 33.5" to 52".

I want daybed to be centered on back window wall here:

The LxW are roughly the same as the bed there now, it's the height that is different, plus the fact this is all solid wood. An iron daybed would have a much airier look to it, but perhaps not as comfy as this one.

Oh, I thought you were getting just two pieces for the $260.00. You did good. And don't you love those feel good Craigslist deals? I helped our daughter sell her sofa recently and we were tickled with the lady that bought it and plan to meet up for lunch when I visit our daughter in California.
I love the way they look now. I think I'd keep them that way. Take a drawer with you to color match for the night stand. As for the chair I'd paint it too and make a darling little slipcover with a ruffled skirt showing just a bit of the leg. Otherwise I'm afraid it really doesn't go with the rest since the legs have a modern look. Cute as it is it's just not right as is.
I love the daybed you found on CL, but like you, am not sure about it's height. Though that's not much above the window sill my concern is would it affect the use of the blinds. I doesn't look like it would from the pictures. It sure is an adorable bed.

I have no color advice, but I like the nightstand, not loving the chair with the desk, and would hold out for an iron daybed for all the reasons you mentioned (plus it would be a nice relief from all the wood).

My 2 boys' rooms are 10x10 and 10x9, so I can appreciate how challenging the room is!

cyn427: If it were white, it'd definitely need to be washable. What type of washable carpets do you use?

justgotabeme: The bed may be a mute point since it may be gone by the time I make up my mind and can get out there to get it with a truck since it wouldn't fit in my SUV. That's the risk we have to take on CL though and I don't want to make a mistake since it'd be a hassle to pick it up. We'll see what others think and I still need to show it to DD. I see your point about the chair. What do you think of her current one? It definitely could use a paint job! Perhaps with a cushion?

I've had my eye on this daybed below. But doesn't come with trundle so would need to purchase separate. There are a few ads for the popup trundles so that's an option. Also don't much care for the brass and painted finials so would need to spray paint--perhaps aqua?

re: the white rugs-since mine are in the bathroom, they are just fluffy white rubber or latex-backed bath rugs from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I couldn't resist them b/c they are so amazingly soft, thick, and fluffy. I have washed them at least every other week for over a year now and they are like new. Since your daughter's room is not too big, you might be able to find something that would work-they have some pretty big bath rugs-too big for my bathroom. I don't think they were any recognizable brand and they weren't expensive, so I wouldn't feel bad if I had to replace them in only a year or so. Happily, that isn't the case.

Great finds! Just my style! I hope you and your daughter create memories together as you create her bedroom! And we have met the nicest people on CL. they become a part of the furnitures "legend"- something you don't get with new furniture.

Love the furniture, and that brown chair is really a much better fit, similar curves and detail, painted white with something seat cushion wise to tie the bed to whatever side of the room it goes on PERFECT!! That iron day bed is lovely too. BUT, I'll bet that if you painted the wooden one (I am assuming that's the one you have now) get some vintage shabby furniture appliques for it (my new fettish) are the drawers on bottom faux or functional? You could always replace them with cute glass knobs, pink or aqua maybe? well I know I've seen pink glass ones at hobby lobby and online, for pretty cheap. I think it would really change it up enough to make it fit with the other wonderfully charming pieces :) Did I mention I love that furniture!!

Val her current chair fits much better. I actually like it he way it is since it works with the wood top of the desk, but I know you wanted to paint that. If you do paint it I'd think about getting a glass top for it to protect the surface and make for a better surface since your darling daughter likes drawing. I know personally how important a good hard surface can be when drawing.
Now onto the cushion. Yep that would be great. I'd think about attaching it like you would for a dining chair though you'd have to alter that a bit for the back. Not sure how to explain that with out pictures. I should be in bed so no drawing tonight. Oh gosh, it's two twenty-four. Good night!

Just chiming in....cos my 7 yr. old DD has an aqua room too :) She picked out BM Jamaican Aqua as her wall color....We like it. We were debating between BM Florida or Floridian Aqua and Jamaican Aqua at that time...So you might want to look at both the colors.....

I originally wanted BM Palladian blue but it wasn't aqua enough for DD and she turned it down...Hope this helps...BTW, her furniture is white and I feel it tones down the aqua walls a bit. Bedding is Tommy Hilfiger Aqua & lime butterflies. I am sure your DD's room will turn out fabulous...Can't wait to see the final result :)

I also prefer the 2nd chair, as well as the iron bed. The iron bed adds more interest to the room and provides a bit of a relief from all the wood furniture. It's going to look great when you're done!

The one thing that I would take in to consideration when pricing a used bed is what do you feel the value of the frame is....I would never bring a used mattress into my house..No matter how clean the house appears that you took it from....Twin mattresses can be found soooo cheaply.....
A mattress is so personal to me...

Thank you everyone for all of the feedback! I'll keep looking for a nice iron trundle daybed. The one I linked above was sold (though I did find a used popup trundle). Most people seem to be selling off the mattress too, though I plan to use the two we have now since I also am squimish about used mattresses. I'm hoping I could buy w/o the mattreses.

DD, of course, likes the chair with the aqua seat better so may end up using that; though I think her old chair is a better match. I could probably get her to change her mind, though, if we make a fabric seat cushion. It's hard for an 8-year-old to envision what it would all look like cleaned up and painted.

meghnjosh: Thanks for the paint suggestions. I plan to go the BM store today for paint choices so will add those to my list. DD also wants AQUA walls, but I think I can convince her to go more muted if we have other aqua colors in the room. I'd love to see your DD's aqua/lime room. I ordered DD a lime lamp from JCP but am thinking of returning it for the aqua one.
