OK, I'll play devil's advocate:
(1) It is WAY TOO BIG.
(2) It is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
(3) It is a BAD IDEA to buy rugs over the Internet because you can't be sure of the color, you can't touch it to make sure it's gonna feel good on the tootsies, and you can't be sure that the pattern isn't just stamped on instead of woven in.
(4) It is gonna be a bear to return when you realize all these things.

Where do you live? If you don't like it, I'll come and take it off your hands. (I think it's really nice!)

Can you order a small size first? Or try to find it elsewhere on the net, perhaps a site that has better color representations? Have you read all the reviews? I know I have preached about not getting caught up in the semantics of color, but there can be some clues in the reviews.

I just returned a rug to Overstock. It was easy enough to return but it did cost twenty bucks.

Besides all the reasons NOT to get it that you have mentioned, I am sure you may find a very similar style one in a size to fit your room that is cheaper at a local store in your area. That rug is not all that unique.

What would you do with a rug that is the wrong size anyway?

I have successfully bought rugs online. But before I was successful, there was the $60 investment in the smallest size offered of one rug that turned out to not quite hit the colors I wanted. So I have a $60 wool rug for wet shoes when you come in my front door now. Then there was the rug with the funny weave that was a little TOO gold for my living room. It vacuums really funny because of the weave. It now lives in the office where I used to work. My office partner and I painted and decorated and my rug fit right in. Too bad my job changed and I now share the office next door with people who don't want to spend their own time and money to decorate! I do get to go visit my $250 rug occasionally, though, when the work slows down. If it slows down.

So, yeah, go ahead and buy a rug online. Just be sure you will enjoy re-wrapping it, paying for shipping, and hauling it to the shipper. I am too lazy, so I ended up with rugs to spare.

That is really what I needed to hear. It's really the size that's the deal breaker here. It's just too big. We're not moving into the house for another 6 months, so I should be able to find something I like in the right size 6 months from now. Thanks!!!
