I stumbled across the website of Pleasant Valley Farms daylilies via another post and caught site of 'Lady Stephanie' daylily. Absolutely a beauty! I want one, I will get one! No, no, no she's too expensive! I could reserve her for spring... Oh no, what am I thinking? $200 for a fan! But, she's soooo pretty! Help, my fingers are twitching on the keyboard, my brains getting fried by images on this delightful looking daylily.

HELP! I don't know how long I can hold out! :O

How's this sound? We live in Northeast Ohio - we shouldn't even be thinking of ordering anything right now - we should be preparing our gardens for winter. She is a beauty though!

Noooo, lol you don't understand. I'm not thinking of planting right now, but in spring. Oh darn. Oh well, I have to go to work soon, maybe that'll talk me out of it. Thanks though! lolol

If you cant get them all in, as we have pretty much agreed is the best idea, you can knock together a sort of plant hotel that will get you through and be usefull in the future. I had a section of fence, between my house and my neighbors that was both very sheltered, unimproved, and sort of a micro climate. I rounded up some old boards. I had 4 2x6's available, and nailed them together in a rectangle shape that looked like a sort of empty window frame. Then I layed it down on the ground in my shady sheltered spot, and staple gunned a sheet of 6 mil plastic inside of it. (think inside fitted sheet) be sure to leave one corner with enough extra plastic that you can just weight it, not staple it, so that when you get rain you can tug this corner down so the whole thing can drain. then I set the plants in and I filled around them with part of an old rotted straw bale I had, you could use compost or what ever.this will both keep them cool and moist. I used this for an ill-timed family vacation to disny land, when we were having a heat wave at home and didnt loose a thing. later in the season, I tented it with more 6 mil plastic doubled in a lean too against the fence,(plastic down the fence side, too, all tucked in) and it made a great cold frame. this lasted several years, and I have thought often that altho I finished off that area and there isnt room for the hotel there any longer I should put one someplace else, because it really saved me over and over.

hahahahaha - You are so right - I didn't even think about it that way! You guys crack me up! And I thought *I* was the one being sneaky! lol He has me doing all the weeding and mowing the back, too! Now we're *discussing* a vegetable garden. He wants to do it one way, I another. I told him that I was going to do it my way and he could just stay out of it! I'm with lauriedeee on this one. Step away and think about whether you can and actually WILL use these tiles before making an impulse purchase. I am currently storing tile that I picked out for a bathroom and tile that I picked out for my kitchen and it's not pretty. Yes, the price is good, but if you don't have somewhere you absolutely will use it, then it will end up a waste of money and storage space. Take a deep breath and look at your house. Is there a space you absolutely will remodel and this is the perfect tile? Or are you trying to fit the tile in somewhere just because the price is good? Do you know the exact quantity you need or will you end up purchasing a bundle of tile only to discover you didn't purchase enough or you purchased way too much? If you find a project for it, do you have somewhere to actually store the tile for a long time until you get to that project?

Carol its easily -50 windchill just a few miles from you! LOL I am speaking in my direction! Thermometer is reading -14 right now and the wind is blowing harder than it has all day! DH's wind gauge is showing steady 45mph most of the time. How much snow do you have over there? I thought the very eastern part of the state wasn't supposed to get this, but I saw Fargo on the national news tonight, looked worse there. Bismarck area had 11.5 inches at 6 am this morning. I know we haven't got near that (thank goodness) only maybe 6??? Thats a guess, its too blame hard to tell! We have a drift waist high in front of the house. Shoveled 3 times for the dogs so far, betcha its gotta be done once more before bed.

Here's an idea...wait until next season and visit Polston's garden when it is in bloom. Take a good look at it and then decide if you must have it. You are close enough to do that fairly easily. It is ideal to see it in an actual garden before forking over megabucks.

You have great taste, it's lovely. It said sold out except with collections and then it also said the 2008 collections are sold out. So you probably can't get it anyway as it seems to be totally unavailable.

Yesterday I saw one of the 2009 intros, INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE on the Lily Auction and the bid was up to $400.00 for a single fan and there was still aboiut 6 hours to go. I don't know were it closed at because I didn't look. Again, it was only available with collections and the collections are sold out.

Well, if it is LADY STEPHANIE VICTORIA REDDING your referring to then here is the reason......it is sold out according to the website.
I have to admit, when I saw it last spring, it was my favorite also.
Only Polston I have is ANGELS IN WAITING (04)which is new to the garden this year so I have not seen it bloom yet. Perhaps next year it will.

To the people saying it is sold out: so is Interview with a Vampire but Joel had a fan on the Lily Auction. If you want it give Joel a call and see what he can do. If I had the money to spend I would spend it on what I want.

Yes, but he got a heck of a lot more than the asking price on the LA for that fan. Both were collection only plants and I figgure in this case, he truely means the fact that its one fan.

The final winning bid for INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE (with 9 bids) was $400.00. His auction listing said he did have a few fans of INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE left, so he may put another one on auction. At that price, I know I would!

I emailed him. OK yes I did it, I emailed him about it lolol! He said it was sold out :(
BUT, he said he'll put me on the list for when if at all, it comes in again.
So, I guess I don't need to be talked out of it, yet.....
I saw the Vampire one too, and wow! Nice, and that Drops of Jupiter I liked too. Now, if only I had more room for that many!

LADY STEPHANIE VICTORIA REDDING won a Junior
Citation from the AHS back in 2008. So it could very well be destined to win more awards. It is quite a beauty. I just saw Jamie Gossard's presentation yesterday and talked w/ him this weekend about what he's working on and his garden being on tour for the 2012 National. Talk about being blown away by what someone has coming out in the future! AMAZING futures from Jamie- that's where all of my daylily money will be going in the near future.

I visited Tom's garden this past July and I refuse to talk you out of it. Lady Stephanie is even better than the website suggests. The branching on what little of it he had was outstanding. The intense red againt that edge was to die for. Its been on my list since I saw it. Hubba hubba!
