Don't you love dog hero stories?

Here's an article about a dog who saved his home. The writing could use a good editor. For instance, I really don't think it was the owner who let the dog out the front and then ran around to the back. :-)

A dog was called a "hero" Friday, after alerting a Dyberry Township homeowner to a developing fire on the outside of his home.

Honesdale Fire Chief Stan Pratt also credited the quick action of the homeowner to contact 9-1-1, and the fire companyÂs quick response, to stopping the blaze from doing any more damage to the log home, high on top Heaven Lane.

Firefighters were alerted at 8:20 a.m. to respond to the home of Lester and Bonnie Stinnard, off of Route 670. Due to the hour, with many firefighters at their jobs, additional companies were called to supply manpower.

Seelyville, Prompton and Browndale were on scene, and a Pleasant Mount Emergency Services tanker was also requested.

The blaze appears to have started outside in the rear. Mr. Stinnard had let his dog out the front door, and ran around back. The owner was alerted when the dog began to "go crazy" with barking, as flames made their way up the house. "So the dogÂs a hero," said Pratt.

Only Mr. Stinnard was at home, and he and his pets all got out safely. There were no other injuries during the fire fight.
