I love Country Living (just wish I could actually visit all the neat homes they show in there! Comfy, cozy old homes with fireplaces, lots of art, books, interesting nic-nacs all over the place!)

Gives ya lots of home decor ideas on using old stuff, too!

I was going to say The New Yorker, which I read every week at work (I work in a library), but I have say I like Country Living even better. The New Yorker makes me think, but Country Living makes me feel good.

We cancelled most of our magazine subscriptions long ago, now we mostly read online. I had a subscription to Martha Stewart for a year, but that got boring quick so I didn't renew.

I have to admit the only subscription I still have is Vogue, which I have subscribed to since I entered the workplace 3 decades ago!!

Food Network. The only one I get.

It is a toss up between "Country" and "Birds and Blooms".

We only subscribe to The New Yorker. I'm usually two to three weeks behind though!

Oh, we also look through the publications that come to members from The Royal Oak Society, US affiliate of The National Trust(GB). Those come three to four times a year.

National Geographic.

I'm getting a few now because of great subscription deals (like $5 a year ) but can't say one is better than another. I hate the ones who use pastel fonts so you can't read them anyway. I liked All you a lot because of the coupons. Most are glorified OTC drug company outlets I think .
I usually skim thru tear off the address and take to the Laundramat.

My neighbor bought me a subscription to Redbook as a thank you for a favor I did for her.
If I had the extra money, I would love to get Guidepost, Readers Digest and Good Housekeeping....those are my favorites.
As I get older, they are getting harder to read with such small print, I canceled our newspaper for that reason.
Online is better.

Saveur and Fine Cooking.

I subscribe to several(more than I should, probably). I like Country Living, Reader's Digest, Saturday Evening Post and So Simple. I just got the first issue of a gift subscription to Ophrah's magazine and I must say I am not too impressed. Too many ads and not much relates to my lifestyle. She did have an article on decluttering and organizing which is good. Now if only I would heed the advice!

I like The Week. It's a compilation of writing from other news magazines, even international ones. It also has other intereting sections--fabulous houses for sale, a recipe (always odd), puzzle in the back, great artwork on the cover.

Good Housekeeping....been reading it since I was a child, it's the only subscription I have now that Gourmet is gone.

Am getting rid of most--get Reader's Digest, not as good as it use to be, Food Network, lots of good tips just gave away a year's supply, Good Housekeeping, may not renew, I really like more short stories, not so much beauty, etc.
Also get two church ones that I do enjoy.

I only take one magazine and it was a gift. It is Reminisce. It is nice. I would like National Geographic and Mother Earth News.

I get too many magazines. womens mags, beauty mags, gardenuing mags, housekeeping mags,etc. Too many. I look at them and throw them out or bring them to the hospital waiting room or laundromat. I decided not to renew any of them, just let them go. Then today I got a call from Birdes and Blooms, Do I want a special deal? Sure, send me a bill. Sigh...

I stopped almost all of mine,except birds and blooms and whethat runs out i won't renew it either.Tried both Oprah nd Martha Stewart at one time,too many ads,which is what i find wrong with most magazines these days.Even stopped all my cross stitch ones as well.Do pick up Womens World,and All You every once in awhile at checkout.

I hope I get a good offer for Mother Earth News I loved the older issues and wish I'd save them all. When
I see them at a sale I try and pick them up.I used to clip out articles and put tems in those c=see thru plastic
pages then I'd give them a number and list them in the computer. Who know when we'll need them haha

Fine Cooking and the Food Network magazine which is really pretty good with lots of recipies. Today my friend Derek suggested I try the Cooks Illustrated because that is the one he prefers. He bought Fine Cooking for the first time this week and was impressed with it and already used a recipe for short ribs last night.

I also love cooking magazines but seldom buy them.

I don't subscribe to any any more, for the same reasons others have mentioned. The text is so faint it isn't readible; mostly ads and some of them are on thicker paper which makes it hard to turn the pages.

My DD takes several and brings them to me; I scan through looking at the pictures. We have a new Mission Center Thrift shop that opened recently so I will be taking the mags there. I have been putting them in the Recycle bin. They sell them for 25¢.

I don't understand why the mag companies print things that so many of can't read. Surely pale pink ink is not that much cheaper than plain black.

I have every issue of Country Living and Country Home ever published , and had a subscription to Cottage Living. Well CL and CH are now defunct and CL might as well be. This magazine is nothing like it used to be and even tho I could get it for $7 a year, I declined. Their rate used to be $24 a year. It's on its way out the door too. I just got my last issue of BH&G, and I won't renew. They cater to the 20's and 30's and that's fine but not for me.

I receive Everyday Food. I didn't renew Chatelaine or Style at Home. All magazines are catering more to fashion and younger styles now, than they used to. I like the recipes and they are getting scarce.
They will show a picture of a meal and encourage you to go online to view the directions, and more recipes. Hmmmm if people wanted to go online, they wouldn't be subscribing, so why not keep the recipes in the mag?

I received a number of Good Housekeeping, Women's Day and
BH and Gardens. They've changed as well since I remember buying them yeeeeaars ago. All kinds of advertising, and less information.

I also received a bunch of Taste of Home a couple years ago. I had never heard of them, but really enjoyed them. They were older issues. I now see them on the racks here, and I browsed through them. They've changed significantly as well, and I won't subscribe to that one either.

Lily, I used to have every issue of Country Living, but got rid of all of them, except maybe half a dozen, a couple of years ago during a decluttering frenzy.

I used to subscribe to so many magazines, but now I just subscribe to Birds and Blooms, Country Living and Southern Living. I keep all B&B magazines for the pictures. I give the others to my mother who looks thru them and passes them along to her neighbors.

Harrowsmith - great articles on recipes, living green, gardening, etc. It's a country life magazine, done very well. Boooo, it publishes every second month though.

I used to get Country, Readers Digest and Real Simple. I decided to stop them and got my SO Bass Masters and Deer & Deer Hunting. The are definately not my favorites...

Mscsippy..I did a purge too a few years ago but kept all the really good issues of CH and CL. To compare those magazines in the 80's and 90's to what they have begun today, is astonishing. CL actually has FASHION now. If I want fashion I'll do Vogue, if I want cooking I'll do Cooking Light. I want a magazine that features old houses and antiques. There ain't no such animal any longer.

When I get the good $5 deals on Sunset and BH&G, I bite. Let it run out then renew when "we want you back" at a terrific deal. The only one I get and really look forward to is my Clean Run mag. It's for us (dog) agility fanatics.
