Rock and Roll at Home
Celebrate your favorite music in your décor
Have you been taking home design so seriously that you've sucked all the fun out of your décor? It's time to turn up that favorite playlist from your iPod and get inspired. Great art has always accompanied music; one big bummer of the digital music age is the loss of all those great album covers. However, there's still plenty of great ways to enjoy rock art and accessories. These include hanging a portrait of a rock icon (maybe it's a classic cover of Rolling Stone magazine), a favorite album cover, or that staple-holed poster you ripped off a telephone pole. Here are some ideas for how to rock out at home now.
Why not look at Iggy Pop whenever you're in the powder room? This piece of art looks perfect with the wild wallpaper and bright mirror.
A series of rock posters in identical frames and mats makes for a sophisticated wall with a wink of fun.
Oh The Boss... there's nothing more all-American rock-and-roll than the Born in the U.S.A. work on this wall.
Springsteen also has the perfect face for a fun throw pillow. No other decorative pillows are required.
The crisp black, white and red graphics on this White Stripes poster complements the modern architecture and chalkboard wall.
I'm not sure if one can snuggle up to a guitar at night, but to each his own.
Embrace the amps. Adding a great poster overhead helps enhance this musical equipment. A poster of Spinal Tap's Nigel would be a perfect pairing.
All right, I recognize Jimi Hendrix, but I'm having a little trouble with the star on the right. Is it Chrissy Hynde? Joan Jett? Steven Tyler? Please let us know who you think it is in the Comments section.
If you can't make it out to the Hard Rock Cafe, bring the Hard Rock home. This ultimate rec room/home theater has the fun feel of hotel in Las Vegas.
Red Woodstock Poster
For those who long for the days of Peace, Love and Music, this charming Woodstock poster is for you.
Album Cover Frames
If you're like me, you're hanging on to your old albums for nostalgia's sake even though you no longer have a turntable. Someday I'll invest in these great album frames for Never Mind the Bollucks, Here's the Sex Pistols, Meat is Murder, and maybe even that beloved Fame soundtrack cover.
Aerosmith Through The Years Poster
There are scads of fantastic rock posters available, whether vintage, reproduced or new. Newburycomics.com is a favorite of mine for eye-catching tour posters, livenation.com offers up show posters, and eBay is a great source for vintage posters.
