Looks like our weekend starts today-- later this afternoon I'm prepping onions & green peppers for the sausage booth for the FD's End of the Summer fund Raiser & dance tomorrow evening-- Doc's cooking & I was going to work the counter but my tumor surgery has been scheduled for Tues the 25th & my surgeon at Guthrie Clinic said no to that idea-- no unneccesary enposure to "germs" from crowds-- so I guess I'll be helping man the grills-- & staying at least 6 ft from the crowds.

Sunday most of the family's coming for a cookout here-- seems they're worried about 69 yr old Mom/Gramma making it thru the surgery.

After several days of pouring rain and many tornadoes, the sun is finally peeking out! YAY

Having a bunch of the neighbors over tomorrow for a cook-out and maybe a bonfire, we'll see if the weather stays pleasant.

No big plans for Sunday then back to job-hunting on Monday. This is getting old.

Oh dear, Diane, I'm also sending all the good, strong, healing thoughts and prayers that you make it through everything easily and recover quickly and fully. You might surprise those "youngsters"!

Here? Tonight I'm brining pickles and making cake pops for a birthday party on Sunday for my sister's Terrible Twins. Tomorrow Amanda is coming over with the kids and we are going through basement storage to get items for a yard sale on Labor Day weekend, I am NOT moving that stuff. I figure it'll take me at least two years just to clean the basement!

Sunday is the birthday party and work in the garden, I'm hoping for enough ripe tomatoes to make my first batch of salsa for the year, I could can a batch Sunday night.

It's a busy time of year, that's for certain.

TGIF here too. Elery is on his way up for the weekend and he's bringing supper, that's a good thing. Tomorrow we're going out to visit my mother and I'm taking Amanda and the kids with me. Check up on the "old people", aka Dad and Stepmom, and do the regular chores then because Elery wants to go to church on Sunday. He wants to meet my pastor, he's shopping for someone to marry us, LOL. I keep telling him not to rush me.... Lori, no one notices those 10 hour days I put in either, but they sure sit up and mention it when I'm half an hour late because I have a dentist appointment or something, sheesh. They don't manage to add up those late days either, to find out that I worked 60 hours and got paid for 40, they just notice that half an hour. And have I mentioned that I just hate the media anyway? chase, I hope that septic problem is quick and cheap, this time of year, with all that snow, it's going to be a PIA, plus stinky. Ick. Terri, no Trader Joe's? Well, OK, I guess a new couch should make up for it. Michelle, we had 14 inches of snow here too, some is going to have to melt before we have room for any more! The rivers are already high here, it's so cold that the water doesn't soak into the frozen ground and we've already had flood warnings. In February! Yes, if we get a thaw, it'll be exciting all right. duane, I'm glad business is good. I think. (grin) Fish and chips do sound good, though. Annie

Maggie, you are first, hooray!! I'm glad your little "bean" is growing and hope you're feeling better every day. San, my friend, travel carefully and give your Dad and sister all my best. It's going to "cool down to the 80s" here too, and the garden is waiting for me. Deanna, Elery and I did just that last weekend. This weekend he's working, I'm alone and I'm sure the beans are still growing, somehow. So, what's in store for me? Tomorrow is the annual PowWow, so I'll go watch the dancers and give my regards. The Travelling Vietnam Memorial Wall is here at the airport and I've volunteered a couple of hours to help there tomorrow. Sunday is the garden, of course, and then I'll have canning to do next week. Stacie, it's NEVER good to hide things, that's a strain in itself. Both parties should suffer equally with financial issues, I think! Maggie, good luck with that room. I HATE painting. Be careful with the fumes, remember you have to take care of that bean. duane, I moved into my house 23 years ago and swore never again. It IS the only way to truly clean house, though. TGIF for sure!! I've been on the road all week and I'm glad to be home FINALLY!! Stacie, hot as heck here too...but I LOVE summer so the heat doesn't bother me at all. I'll take it over winter and cold temps.....yuck. Linda, I know for sure you will have a great time with the girls....I still remember when I finally figured out your forum name. Katie, congrats to beating the big "C" pal! I'm still shocked at how you pulled that off at camp last year. I still love you stemless glass tip! Pat, I missed the culinary school thing. Too cool! I'd love to read your blog or at least follow up here on the forum. What a trooper you are with all you've been through the last couple of years. Hot here too, triple digit temps are forcasted through next week here. I've been on the road all week and glad to be home....so is Lucy. TUMOR SURGERY?? What's going on? Did I miss some news?
I'm sorry to hear that you need it, but obviously it's not slowing you down very much! Please fill in the gap for me.

Annie, your weekends are ALWAYS super busy. You're amazing!

Mine is fairly quiet, we're babysitting tonight, but no sleepover--boohoo! Tomorrow errands and hopefully a concert or dinner with friends. Sunday we're taking DGS Jayden to San Diego overnight to visit some of the attractions!

Diane, I'm sorry you need surgery and I'm sending you good thoughts and healing wishes too.

Linda, I know the right job will come along for you and I hope it will be soon.

Annie, I'm hoping to make a few more pints of refrigerator dills this weekend to add to the four pints I made last week. I could never dream of canning on your scale. Salsa, yum! Have fun at the BD party.

Ellen, your weekend sounds like a nice balance of activity with the grandkids and a calmer day tomorrow.

We are having a kind of extended weekend, we're going to a friends house for dinner tonight to see a visiting friend from Seattle. Tomorrow were going to see a dog that we may adopt from a rescue shelter. I'll share details if we take him. Sunday, a quiet day at home and Monday we're going out to celebrate our anniversary which was actually this week. I finally got my biz tax information done and met with the tax person on Wednesday - just waiting for the outcome now - so I can really enjoy the weekend.

Linda, sorry I missed seeing in your post about job hunting. I suppose I'm mistaken, but I thought that awhile back you had found something else at the hospital.

Good luck job hunting, Linda. It's a hard time. Our unemployment rate is 23%...lots of frustrated jobseekers.

Annie...Salsa? (Looking at today's harvest, a handful of cherry tomatoes.....sighhhhh...)

Lee...I hope the dog is a good match and one more homeless critter gets a home!

I had to work today and again tomorrow...we are changing systems and this was a training day.They are going to owe me sooooo much comp time. Hopefully our conversion will be done by mid-Sept. and I can work part time for a month or so (in my dreams).

Fair starts Sunday, so Sunday and Monday will be spent entering preserved foods and stepping and fetching for the judges. I've been slammed with requests for canning classes for the last couple of months and I've encouraged everyone in the classes to enter their preserved foods. Hopefully I won't be regretting that encouragement by Monday night.

Ellen, I am still at the hospital, but my hours have been cut from about 30 per week to about 16 per month.

I have looked into a few other opportunities, but so far nothing has come to fruition. It is terribly frustrating. I am about ready to go flip burgers somewhere...

Katie, The wait is SO worth it. I am just lovin' little Zoe!

Lee, I hope the dog "picks you"! Let us know how it works out.
