I have to take the boys out for school supplies today, since school starts Monday (do I sound sad about that???). This evening we have a cocktail party to attend, and RATS, I can't have a drink due to the fact that I am still on post surgery pain meds. Oh well, some ginger ale with a splash of cranberry will suffice:-) Saturday is wide open, a rare commodity in this house. And Sunday is the first day of Hebrew school for the boys, then we have a birthday party in the afternoon. Here's to keeping busy, staying healthy and being happy! I'm raising a steaming mug of Oren's House roast to you all.

Donna, I remember school shopping. Glad I don't have to deal with that anymore...

Not much going on here this weekend, DH's cousin is getting married in South Lake Tahoe tomorrow night; that should be fun. Sunday is wide open for us. The weather is going to be cooler this weekend and the Greek Festival in going on here in Reno all weekend. We may attend haven't decided yet. There's always great food to be eaten LOL

I can't believe school is starting already? My birthday is thursday and I always think of this time of year as being about the middle of summer, which in Michigan it really is. The tomatoes are rolling in (my favorite!) ...and the corn....and the days are nice and hot....school???? Not in my day. Always went back after Memorial day. That should be a law.

Anyway, enough of my rant. Aside from boarding a couple of dogs I have zero to do this weekend. However I should get over to my dad's house and help him pack. Him and my sisters family are moving into a bigger house and the closing is on friday. I hate moving...but I guess somebody has to pack. It used to drive my mom absolutely crazy....my dad procrastinated to the point of madness. Anyway, might do some homemade hot sauce or spaghetti sauce..canning or freezing...not sure which. The weather is cooling down to the low seventies which will be a nice change. Makes me think of comfort food (meatloaf/mashed potatoes/chili etc) but that time will come and too soon for my liking!

As usual, I work tomorrow, but Sunday we have plans to visit with our niece. We may go to the Farmer's Market, but I'm also thinking about going to a somewhat close pick your own organic farm. We've done that once before and enjoyed it. They have Purple hull peas and corn and squash and pears available! They're such nice people, too. We might just do that.

Monday I'm thinking of going to see a movie, either Rattatouie or Bourne Ultimatum. I can't make up my mind.

Hey Donna - when you said your boys are starting school I looked at your profile to see where you lived! DH grew up in Atlantic Beach and I have family in Cedarhurst. My nephew David makes his Bar Mitzvah in September - they are in Plantation, FL. We had plans to go but I will be having a baby right about then - LOL. Good luck school shopping - I always forget Florida starts so early.

We are staying home this weekend and doing my husband's absolute least favorite thing ... painting! We are moving Andrew to the bigger bedroom and making his room the nursery for the bean. We use the bigger bedroom as a guest room/playroom so have to move everything out. We are painting it Santouri Blue and Dill Pickle Green - Pottery Barn colors by Benjamin Moore. The boy picked them out with a little help from Mom ;). The bean's room right now has white beadboard, half yellow wall, blue ceiling and navy carpet. I want to paint the half wall Pink. I love the combo of pink and blue and found bedding that has pink, blue, and red - I love it! I put a link - can't believe I found it at Target. I paid double for my son's nursery bedding! Isn't it just dahling!?

TGIF to all! Today I'm off to work, this weekend is the big move to our new campus and there's tons of work to be done! Luckily, the powers that be have left me off the list for the weekend duty so tomorrow is lunch with a friend and probably dinner with DD. Sunday I think we'll have DGSons to give DD a break. Her hubby is out of town, so she's got the two little ones all by herself! It's hot as heck here, so most likely we'll stay around the pool.

I'm taking the kids swimming today and them dragging them off to a museum of sorts and making them get edjucamated. Bwahaha. Dinner will be on site, kind of a big party thing. See my 'farmers market' thread if you want more specifics about where. Tomorrow DS #1 is getting together with one of HIS internet friends (gee where did he get that idea) and we'll try to find teen boy things to do. There is a big flea market that should keep them busy! Sunday I haven't figured out yet.

Well not much going on here. Have to meet with a financial planner. Getting by on only one income is starting to be a strain. I have been hiding things from DH and things really came to a head today and lots of hollaring and tears on my part. But it is something that we really need to take care of. So will get started tomorrow, won't be much fun and am not looking foreward to it at all.

So hope everyone has a much better weekend than we will be having. Hopefully we can get things taken care of, I have been waiting for the other shoe to drop and it sure has dropped, and someone kicked it into high gear.

duane, I moved into my house 23 years ago and swore never again. It IS the only way to truly clean house, though. Oh, and happy birthday on Thursday!

Elery will be here tonight, leaving Sunday morning. We are planning to spend the evening on the porch swing with our Diet Coke or a glass of wine (which he likes). Tomorrow we're going to Grand Rapids to hit Penzey's, Russo's, The Middle Eastern Market and then the new Fresh Market.

I'm on a mission to find shelled, fresh, unsalted pistachios. My boss has found a recipe for a lime tart that takes a cup of raw unsalted pistachios in the crust, and 17 limes and 24 eggs in the filling. LOL I gotta encourage such behavior!

Sunday morning Elery goes home, he has to work Sunday afternoon. I'll go to the farm, I have this feeling that I have a ton of tomatoes and sweet corn to deal with and the beets are ready for pickling. I love this time of year, but it makes me tired, just thinking about it.

Stacie, sorry for the troubles and I am not one to give advise but Annie is on the money. You have to be a team - no hiding things. It helps to have a you and me against the world thing...and yes he should suffer, too. Good luck and work it together. I know it is not easy being a SAHM and you have 3 under 5.

This is definately something that is a long time coming and I am actually pretty glad that it is somewhat out in the open as far as the hole we are in:) We will spend tomorrow going through everything and hopefully we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.....When you get one step behind it doesn't take long before you are so far behind and wondering why you missed the bus.

Ping pong fever!!! I am playing about every other day now. I'm taking lessons from the instructor Sundays, and we discovered a place where you can rent a table that has robots that keep lobbing balls at you. And it's really, really fun! (This is so much better than a gym or aerobics class or my stupid exercycle that hurts my ass.) So we've been going there after work to practice. Can't go tonight - taking a customer to dinner. So it's robot tomorrow, instructor on Sunday.

All our friends are indoctrinated-I mean INVOLVED (LOL) now too. 6 of us. Another 2 couples who play a little haven't been introduced to the lessons and robot yet, but I think it's just a matter of time, bwa-ha-ha-ha!!!!

Maggie, Ashley's starting to walk by and say "Aw, sappy old people. That's so cute." We make sure we're extra sappy when she's around too! Darn, I thought the "fumes" excuse was a pretty darned good one....

Good luck Stacie, it's hard to catch up when you get behind. Take it from a single Mom with a single income and a kid in college. Sigh. It happens.

Gina, you gotta watch out for that sore as*. (grin) I used to play ping pong when I was a kid, we had one of those boards that you put on the kitchen table to make it a ping pong table. I remember it was pretty darned fun!

Stacie, good luck to you. We've had some serious financial woes a few times in our married life, and somehow worked through it. We're by no means well off, and watch every penny now, but when I think back to those times I am thankful we made it to where we are now. You all can do it, too, but as everyone else said, it works much better when you work together.

Annie, tomatoes and corn ready at the same time I can understand, but beets too? Here in Texas we have to grow our beets in the winter. I'm jealous you can grow cool season crops in the summer.

Happy weekend, everyone!

We have a beautiful day today! Sunny and cool! Nothing much happening here, Probably just going to do not much of anything :) Have not cooked at all this summer, but the grill is calling for tonight, and we just might eat in the back yard. Haven't done that in a long time, it's been way too hot!

Camp is winding down, three more days to go, then I'm on vacation until September 10th when the Nursery School begins. I have no plans except to sleep, shop, have lunch with the girls, and shop some more :) I am looking forward to it!

This last week at camp the kids made ice cream with those play n freeze ice cream balls, it was a big, big hit. They would make a great gift, the kids loved the ice cream and they had a blast. It took a half hour of rolling around and then we had ice cream! We made quarts, but there is a pint size! The smaller ones take less time. All in all, a great summer so far! but it will be nice to have some time off!
