Right now I am finishing up on some Roasted tomato garlic soup:) Wonder where the recipe came from

On Sunday made and processed some of Chase's dill pickles (12 quart) and 14 pints of Annie's salsa. I am done with canning this year. Last year I canned over 360 jars of stuff and with the new baby this summer I don't have the time or energy to do more canning. But I may get some canned stewed tomatoes done, I am running low on those.

Tomorrow we are going to popcorn days at my in laws home town so that should be fun. MIL bought tickets for the girls to ride on all the rides. Then we have a benefit for classmates of DH and I. They both found out they have breast cancer within weeks of each other one is 32 the other is 36 and they have 7 kids under age 10 between them. I really feel for them and would like to show some support.

We talked with the bank this week and they offered a home loan to pay off all our debt and set it up so that we can afford the payments. I am feeling so much better. Things are much better between DH and I now that things our out and we are honest.

So busy weekend and hoping it stays cool. I opened the house over night and it is still nice and cool, perfect for canning.

Katie, sounds like a nice end of summer weekend. (Good for you for supervising and making tough decisions) I actually like car shopping, so have fun.

Stacie, I can not can 1 thing and you did that with how many babies! I am impressed.

Today is my nephews 10th birthday. My sister, his mom, left her husband 2 weeks ago (it really is a good thing in the long run) but this will be a hard day for both of them. We are going out to dinner with them tonight.
We leave tomorrow at 6:30 am to Guelph Ontario for an anniversary party and then to get Chance's (new) arm fixed. It did not last a month and we are having major mechanical problems. Going to do alot of hanging around the hotel pool next week, and just checking out the new neighbourhood we are staying in.

Heading into a week of vacation so for sure I will be clinking you all around 4 pm!

Katie, the competition at this year's fair was non-existent. Of course, I didn't get to enter anything either and neither did the kids, my sister was supposed to get entry blanks and didn't do i. Something about her son's wedding, LOL. Next year. Congrats on the ribbons and good luck on the car, the assistant and taking Sunday off!

Stacie, I'm glad things are better with your DH. As for canning, there's always next year.

Here I have tomorrow to mow the lawn, clean the pool and maybe do some baking. The carpet needs cleaning and Ashley starts classes on Monday. Sunday is the farm and my sister is having a birthday party for the Twin Terrors, Autumn and Summer. They will be starting kindergarten this year so she says they need school clothes, not toys. I guess I'm shopping for birthday gifts.

I'm hoping I have tomatoes ready for salsa, but we'll see...

As we speak I am doing peach jam and stewed tomatoes. Tomorrow we have a wedding at one of the wineries in Niagara On The Lake, should be lovely. Sunday Meredith and I head to the cottage until Tuesday. She flies back to Halifax on Wednesday : ( I'll take a couple of bushels of tomatoes to the cottage and do some canning up there.

Annie, happy baking and shopping (I certainly can't get myself to say happy mowing, carpet cleaning, and pool cleaning). I did a little shopping for Mackenzie this week. The clothes are too cute for that age.

Chace, your weekend sounds perfect - absolutely perfect!

A busy weekend as usual here. It's the last weekend before school starts (Wednesday). We're heading to New Hampshire with about 35 family members to go to an amusement park. It's always fun. We do it every year before school starts, and we act like we own the place. I hope the weather is warm enough for the water rides. Kids love it. So do I.

Thursday night my 18 yr old nephew was a passenger in a car with three other friends. It was speeding, hit a tree, and the three others were killed instantly. My nephew walked away with a broken bone in his hand and a few minor scrapes and bumps. He was so incredibly lucky. Seeing the car would make you cringe. His best friend was in the back seat. He's got a very long road ahead of him emotionally. So, I'm really looking forward to the part of the weekend that will be spent with my brother and his family.

Once again this summer, we are fortunate to be in a situation that could have turned out much worse. I'm so sad for these other kids and their families, but very fortunate to still have my nephew.

Okay, enough of that. This is supposed to be an upbeat thread!!!

Saturday night's Powerball has a 300 million dollar jackpot. Everybody else can save your money because I've already bought the winning ticket. Big plans for my winnings!

A special clink this weekend to everybody who is sending the young'uns back to school next week. May you regain your sanity soon! LOL

Sounds like a good weekend for most- productive and fun! We're in hectic school mode where I work. Our move finally took place last Saturday and this week has been crazy with all the construction re-dos and unpacking as well as school business to carry on. The new phone system perplexes me, I think I'm too old for this challenge- LOL! I'm off to school in a moment, short day with a doctor's appt and have to p/u desert for my Dad's 84th birthday dinner tonight. I wanted to make apple strudel using the Phyllo Phun recipe, but life got in the way!
My new washer and dryer is being delivered tomorrow morning- I took the front loader plunge. The good thing is that if I don't like them, Lowe's will take them back w/in 30 days. I ended up buying the Bosch 500 series, with pedestals. Ouch$$$!
Don't know what else the weekend brings, probably a bbq on the new grill Sat or Sunday or Monday eve.
I'll clink with a big glass of vino this evening! CIAO!

I forgot to say to Lori how sorry I am about your nephew's friends. My heart goes out to their families. I know your relief is tinged with sadness over their loss. My DD lost three classmates around the same age, as did I. Somehow these kids think they're invincible. Proof positive that they are not. So sad.

Lori, I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew's friends, it's so tragic to hear about young lives being lost.

Lori, so very sorry for your nephew's tragic loss. Glad he is okay, even tho it is bittersweet.

I haven't done any canning at all this season....yet. My neighbor wants me to teach her all that I know. That oughtta take about 20 minutes! LOL

Booked my ticket to Grand Rapids tonight for the slumber party at Annie's. I am psyched! Have my ticket to Chicago for the November Tennessee trip, too! Yikes, there goes my Xmas money! Heehee! (Sorry, kids...it's all about mom this year! LOL)

Lori, I'm so glad to hear that your DN is okay...what a terrible thing to happen. We lost three high school students up here on the first day of school a couple of weeks ago. It really it this area hard. BTW, I have the winning ticket so don't bother checking tomorrow night..LOL!

Ellen, business moves and new phones/computers are not fun for me either. Happy Birthday to your DD! Let us know how you like the new washer....I know you've been doing a lot of research lately.

Nothing special going on here this weekend. The commute home was he!! thanks to heavy rain and storms. The rain is welcomed though. Tried to get something going for next weekend but with all the kids back in school or college the pickings are slim for invites. It has been a strange and slow year up here this year. I've went as far as looking at houses in the city this week....maybe it's time for a change.
