BM paint that looks good with BM Carrington Beige

I have a townhouse and you can see the whole main floor from front entrance. My living room and dining room are painted BM Carrington Beige and I want to paint kitchen a colour that will co-ordinate well with the carrington beige. The next colour up or down from carrington beige is Wheeling Neutral. Any opinions on painting my kitchen the Wheeling Neutral to get the "flow" from kitchen through dining room and living room? Suggestions appreciated also.

Gee...hasn't anyone used the BM Carrington Beige? I don't really like the next colour up "wheeling neutral" but would appreciate any suggestions on what colour would look good with the BM carrington beige.

I have not used Carrington Beige- but in my old home I used BM Stone house which the Carrington Beige reminds me of. I used all earth tones that worked with it (not at all in the same families, but all coordinated well with it and I loved standing in my foyer looking at every room to see all the colors and how well they worked together.

What are the other colors in your kitchen (cabinets, counter-tops, etc.) Would you be willing to use another color family or did you want to stay in the neutrals?

Simply White has a creamy undertone. I like the grays....like Edgecomb Gray and Winterwood (both taupe/gray). The greener grays like Old Prairie are so pretty too with the creamy white. I think it might be good to see if you have a dominant secondary color that you love....to go with your black/white theme. Do you love a jewel tone as a splash of color (red, yellow, lime green), or do you prefer something more understated like a gray, soft sage or soft blue as an accent? Once you look at a few pictures and see the secondary colors you are attracted to, I think you can start narrowing your decision. In addition, if the floorplan is open, what colors are in the adjacent room--is your couch brown or red? That can tell you something too. I love reading the postings by this woman. You might take a look at BM 234 "Crisp Khaki". I'd grab the strip with that one and the strips on either side. The historical pallette doesn't really work like a conventional pallette where you have strips with 6 colors on them-it's a bit more disjointed. It will be easier to find lighter/darker tones of a given shade in the classic colors pallette because of the way things are laid out.

You are so very welcome! :-) We tested a "gajillion" colors for the FR (this room is off the FR) until we finally settled on Mascarpone (one of my first choices, BTW, but DH wasn't too keen on it at first). Somehow I just knew that the Muslin would be the winner in the Guest Bedroom from the get-go. I did look at a two or three darker colors in there as well, just to be 100% sure, but really wasn't ready to go darker in there. Muslin is a terrific neutral color. We both absolutely love the Muslin. It looks a little creamier during the day, leans more toward khaki at night, but looks great either way. We are very happy with the Aura matte--have used it in every room we've painted over the past 5-6 years, incl ceilings (used matching colors to the wall colors in the satin finish on the baseboard molding in all rooms).

What BM white paint for walls will look good with BM Atrium White trim

I would just change the sheen unless you want more contrast. I would not use White Opulence in this situation because they are both too close but too different. It would be just "off" in that head scratching way. Now I do know White Opulence very well,as I've used it for all my trim and all the kitchen cabs in this house.

Because you can see right through my kitchen into dining room and living room I just thought it would be good to have colours that co-ordinated well because its a small area. So I thought neutrals would work well. Thats why I was considering what would work well with the BM Carrington Beige maybe just a shade darker. I had considered doing the kitchen in the carrington beige but because my cupboards and counter top are white thought maybe a bit more contrast would work better. Thanks for any suggestions.

Maybe try having your Ben Moore paint shop mix you up a sample of double and triple-pigmented versions of the lovely grey-greenish Carrington beige? While I haven't used Carrington beige yet, it is a high favorite on a sample wall I'be been living with a while. It also was a recommended color of the guy that did "Designing for the Sexes", an old HGTV series.
