Electrolux Washer & Dryer: Load Weight issue?
Comments (25)Thanks for the useful, thoughtful points, ladies and gentlemen. Upon further thinking, i think this might be the best solution: - Warm/Warm and press the Eco Friendly button. Reason: this reduces the normal "Warm" temperature, and will be, between cold and warm. this, in theory, in this frigid winter weather with freezing cold "cold water from the tap/outside", should result in a barely warm water, right? This would ensure both a "Barely warm wash cycle, and then a Barely Warm rinse cycle", ensuring a thorough rinsing of detergent. Furthermore, when Warm/Warm (with Eco Friendly selected) is done, I think I ought to do one more Rinse Only cycle, with extra spin, at "High" speed spin. This would ensure that detergent would be thoroughly out, and that water would be centrifuged out. Any comments please? Advice? How should I fold my natural wool fleece mattress pad when putting it inside? Only one person has made a suggest thus far, and he suggests that i fold all the wool fleece INWARDS. My fear is that detergent might get in and not get out! Thx in advance....See MoreQuestionable New Features on Washers & Dryers
Comments (26)jonsgirl--- I am of the opinion that the "six months of laundry soap" thing is a stupid gimmick. Honestly, is adding soap that arduous? I'd also be worried about it forming some weird biofilm. AND it seems like "one more thing to break." I love the temperature boost option on my Bosch--I use it when I have white cotton that I want REALLY white/clean. About once a month I run a load of white towels on temp boost...I think it helps keep the mildew/biofilm issue at bay. mepop-- I routinely use vinegar in my wash...haven't used liquid chlorine since I was washing diapers when the kids were babies. (20+ years ago) I DID sometimes add vinegar to the final rinse on the diapers...but that was a second "extra" rinse after the diapers had gone through the full initial rinse cycle. Any chlorox left would have been so residual as to be negligible. Left the diapers nice and soft...even when line-dried....See MoreNew Electrolux Washers & Dryers
Comments (152)I was fortunate enough to see the 617 which our local mega dealer has on the floor. I am in NE Ohio. This machine certainly has eye catching appeal, and I don't get why no big box retailer dedicates floor space or stocks locally. Without seeing, touching, comparing, few buyers will purchase sight unseen. IMO the 70 series was feature laden with specialty cycles and stain treat options and a fantastic 3 slot custom memory. I get the impression Lux chucked the otherwise difficult to navigate interface of the 70 series, simplfied popular options, and gave it an overhaul chic appeal! It appears to be a very well built machine and drum looks to be identical to the 70 series. I am not so much sold on the detergent pre-mixing tank, especially if your a powered detergent or pod user. My concern is does the machine fill through the tank and effectively flush between uses, or is there a potential to have crud residue, and stench built up? Its difficult to differentiate between detergent and water in the sump, and sprayed on the load during fill as many machines do. The only advantage I see to the Lux system is perhaps a more complete mixing of detergent and water applied to the load uniformly. You could always bypass it and add product directly to the drum. My only other peeve is the display is not back lit and difficult to see, but not a deal breaker by any means. My overhaul impression is this machine is a winner and will have no problem compeating, that is providing the retailers allocate floorspace. It offers top tier features and P172 certificaton, at a price point (899.00) that is several hundred dollars less than the competion. I will look forward to actual usage reports....See MoreWhirlpool, Electrolux or Samsung for washer/dryer?
Comments (21)pcpr_gw......very well put and valid points. I have had my 617 set for exactly one year now and do not regret my choice of appliances. It is easy to want to recommend them but everyone has their own expectation of how a washer should act so I hesitate to flat out say..."get them, you'll love them." I have said before that my items are cleaner with no pillage or shrinkage. One thing I have noticed with items that I have laundered then stored away. They smell fresh after being stored for several months. I used to get a sour smell with that type of wash after a period of storage. Is it the 617 or what? I do not know but it is just one more star on the page for Electrolux for me. I do not use fabric softeners or dryer sheets and only use Cheer powder or Persil Pearls plus always an extra rinse. My wash cycles average 52 min. (never use normal) and I do not find that to be excessive. In my city, Electrolux appliance service technicians are readily available, but none are available for Miele. That ruled out the Rolls Royce of appliances for me but I am happy with what I now have so I did not look back. Good luck with your decision making.......See Morelaundryvet
