Daybed on screen porch?
Comments (46)My first idea for you Carrie, since you mentioned yu have a single mattress to use, was to find a king size head and footboard to make into a day bed like you would make a bench out of a smaller bed. If you have a holliwood frame for your bed all you'd have to do was cut the footboard in half and attach it to the ends of the headboard and then to the frame. Plop on the mattress and dress the bed! My second idea is similar to Lynn's. Make a platform the size of the mattress with large pullout drawers. Only I'd find a simple twin head and footboard cutting the head and footboard to be just high enough to hold a bolster at each end looking more like a backless sofa. As for protecting the mattress, I agree that a waterproof mattress cover would take care of the worry of rain. And for the idea of a swing bed....here's one of my favorite beds from my inspiration albums. You wouldn't want to actually swing on it, but it could certainly sway you to a deep sweet dream filled sleep....See MoreMy latest project
Comments (21)It took me about 2 months to get up the courage to start this thing once I realized how involved it was. I was also stalling because I wanted silver fabric instead of gray. The Chacopaper I found at Michaels. Now that I purchased a bit of 30's repros, I will be using them for several of my blocks, like the mixing bowls & teacups. I was trying to use stuff out of my stash that looked sort of old fashioned before I broke down & bought MORE fabric. And will buy some 30's for the border. I'll probably hang this in my dining room. I don't have room in my kitchen & wouldn't want any kitchen messes to end up on my work of art! The pattern is by Lori Holt. "Bee in My Bonnet" patterns are available from Lori at 801-446-9117. They aren't widely available & she doesn't have a website that I know of. Here's her Apron Club pattern. http://www.pipersquilts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=pipers&Product_Code=apclb&Category_Code=patterns...See MoreWould this caned Anglo Indian daybed originally have had a cushion?
Comments (21)That is really a beautiful daybed, good eye! Will be interested to see the final results. I have a similar project going, last month I found a lovely antique daybed for a song on CL. I also ordered the same cushion as you did which fit exactly, but it just wasn't right for me. I also looked at custom, but too $$. Maybe somebody can benefit from the solution I came up with. Shopped for foam online and found a 3" latex foam mattress topper not too expensive. As a full-size is 54", exactly half will perfectly fit the daybed, so I'll cut it exactly in half and have a 6" thick cushion. Not sure how I'll cover it as I'm not a sewer, but with friends I think I can craft something pretty cute....See MoreXpost, This is my latest project, anyone else have projects to share?
Comments (26)Everyone's quilts are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I've never tried quilting... yet. :) I want to share another of my roadside wicker "saves" because it's so unusual. lol! I saw these legs at the road while on a walk one day last year and passed them by initially, but felt guilt pangs and had to try to save it. :O) The lower part of the base was shot, the toes were shot, and the top obviously had problems. lol! I was able to pull away the bad parts and (masterfully, if I must say ;^) weave in the base, new toes, and a whole new supportive "girdle" so that I could make a small tabletop for it. The original weaver did a fabulous job on the legs, so I had to save them! :)...See MoreJamie
