shellfish: Oh, lovely room. That is right up my alley as well! I'm so envious of your space! I like the idea of the white coverlet which I may add in winter below the duvet. DD and I are still looking through the samples though lean towards a more saturated color like boxerpup's DS's room, then a lighter shade for the ceiling. Hope to narrow it down to a few paint samples to test on the walls. DD has little patience with me as I wanted to show her the inspiration pics. I'd rather she just pick a look she likes and let me narrow down the paint colors to 2-3 that match the one in a picture. That has always been my difficulty in doing her room--she just focuses on one aspect, the bedding, WTs or paint and not how they all look together in her room, with her floor and lighting. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done in terms of room layout at present and it's not possible to remove just the head and footboard. It's a captain's storage bed with four drawers which she uses for her clothes. In another year my DS will most likely go away to college then I think I will let her move into his room which is a smidge larger and then we can do something similar to paintergirl's rendition. In which case I'll be repainting both rooms in a year's time. If it wasn't so hideous right now, I'd just wait another year, but she and I both hate it and the bedding and WTs can simply move to the other room when the time comes. I lvoe the paint color in the living room photo above and think DD would agree to that since it's so vivid. That B&W accents really seem to mitigate the intense shade as I'd hoped it would. Does anyone know what color that is?

dixie, that is one cute room! I'm also looking for a headboard -- did you get yours anywhere I might find online?? My DD saw this quilt and said Ooooohhh.... and for this price I couldn't pass it up (link below). Now I just need to find a rug... and a headboard... I decided a black-on-white toile wasn't going to work because the bottom of her walls are white wainscoting and I didn't want the white against the white. Very pretty room so far. I recognize the bedding from PBteen. Have you checked their website for inspiration? I think either choice is fine, though with any panels, it looks like you would need to move the dresser you've placed between the two windows. One advantage of the chocolate drapes is that they would be more room darkening. Another option would be to go with the dotted sheers to echo the bedding. I checked the website and they have white with chocolate dots (even on sale!) which you could layer with a chocolate roller shade. I wonder if you could paint the shades you have now with fabric paint. You can echo the same WTs' over the closet area as well. I know you didn't ask about room layout, but if you do opt for panels, I'd suggest placing her bed between the two windows with the nightstand off to the side. As it looks like the desk and bookcases are part of a unit, I was wondering why you split them up? It would seem more functional to group them together on the long wall where the bed is now, though perhaps there is not enough clearance. I have 3 kids, two high school age and I find it very practical to have a nice study area with plenty of desk space and shelving nearby. Pretty room and I must say I am partial to the colors having only recently done both of my two DD's room in varying shades of aqua (one like you did it, the older one more of a turquoise). When you say a wide band all the way around, do you mean top and bottom of the panel, also? I will need about 2 inches to have the panels meet (when closed) with a little gather of the rings/fabric at the rod. Would 3 inches of band on each side of the panel be enough, do you think? Or should I go a bit more? But as per your suggestion, solid banding it is--Thank you! Light terracotta for the headboard -- it doesn't matter if the color of the fabric on the headboard is not the color of the coverlet? As long as the color is in the same family, right? What is the general guideline about a tailored bed skirt, same color family but different shade OK? I'm having a heck of a time when it comes to the colors Terracotta/Rust. Everyone has a different hue/shade of the color. Haven't been able to find any two that even come close so far but I'll keep looking for that special pillow I want to make. On the same thought, if I go with the Blue Banding on the panels, what if I have the same trouble finding the exact blue as in the window panel fabric? The blue is not blue-blue but has what seems like a bit of green. Not enough to make it aqua but enough. This is going to be a tuffy. *smile* As for the shams, oh how I would love to make matching shams (I'd have to read up on Welting 101 but I'd do it!) but I don't think I'll have enough fabric----eeeek! Unless I do the panels with a different color at the top and the print 3/4 the rest of the way. But that would bring me back to trying to figure out more color coordinating combos. Why oh why couldn't I have been born with even a tad of decorating gene *grrrrr* As for the dark bark green bed -- I love how it's turning out as long as the room's lights are on or at dusk. With natural light coming in the window each post, each side of each post of the bed takes on a different color---- Another Eeeeek! I'm thinking about adding an antiquing on top of the dark green just to unify the dark bark green color all around. The antiquing would look ok in the turns of the posts, no? Don't mind the temp bedding or stuff on night stands. All temp until I figure out what I'm doing. Colors of Footboard Post and Wall just to left of post are the true colors. So I ask daughters this morning what they thought of the direction I was taking in the bedroom and one said "Mom, looks like you're going for a Bold Mediterranean Mother Earth thing". The other daughter nodded wildly in agreement. *sigh* I haven't seen that style listed in any decor book.
