Infusing vanilla bean in non-custard vanilla ice cream

We're planning to make another batch of the vanilla ice cream we made last weekend. This time, I want to use a vanilla bean instead of the vanilla extract.

This recipe is very easy: blend whole cream, half & half, sugar, and vanilla in a blender, the pour into a chilled ice cream container, chill in fridge, then churn in ice cream maker.

However -- I think the vanilla bean flavor won't infuse well in the cold mix, so I'm thinking of heating the milk w/ the seeds and bean, let it completely cool, add it to the blender, and continue with the recipe.

I'm I correct about this?
