I don't understand. You have been using Tide HE and LCB for a year. I am assuming you once had white whites prior to getting your LG? If thats the case there should be nothing different as long as the water temperature is correct (HOT), and the correct cycle is chosen. The only other varient would be a change in your water supply for some reason. If that LG has an onboard heater, and all else is not changed, there should be no reason for lackluster whites.

Water quality, water temp, detergent/additive types and amounts. There really isn't much else unless the machine itself isn't cycling properly.

Do you know about your water's characteristics...hard/soft, iron or other contaminants? Does your model have an internal heater? What cycle are you using? How long does it take? Does the machine seem to be operating properly through its cycle? How large is the tub on your model? Does it seem to be filling with water to the proper level? How much of the laundry products are you using?

LG's are fine machines. Maintaining whites shouldn't be a problem unless something in this group is amiss.

Does Tide HE contain oxygen bleach? If so you should stop using the chlorine bleach, they just work on eachother and in the end you don't get any bleach effect at all. Just use Tide HE and if you want to get your whites white just add some oxygen bleach. High temperature Tide HE and oxygen bleach in the right amount will make your whites dazzling white again.

You can do a few things:

1. Let your clothes soak in the detergent/LCB for some approx. 15 minutes, if you can with your washer.

2. Wash your clothes with a few household products: white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide (active ingredient for OxiClean), lemon juice, or ammonia (never mix it with LCB). Or, purchase Borax. I would suggest performing a trial & error to see which product works best for you.

3. Clean your washer out by running a complete cycle with detergent and LCB (or rust stain remover) in case you have rust stains, or washed something that left a stain (start using SHOUT ColorCatcher for your colored loads).

What is LCB???

I have Fridgedare FL. Just switched to HE detergent and OXY, but can see no DAZZLINGNESS being restored after 3 weeks.
I do however use mineral oil gel after the shower - it is left on my towels. They are HOPELESSLY gray (but ooooh my skin is so nice - even in the dead of winter!!) So is the sacrafice of my towels worth it? My DH says oh yeah!

I have given up hope of ever getting them white again. Have city water - could it be a mineral problem, or does anyone have a grease cutter that really works?

From my understanding LCB is Liquid Clorox Bleach.

After your machine is running for a few minutes in it's "wash" cycle and your sure your detergent and non-clorine bleach additive is dispersed and/or dissolved, pause your washer (if you can) for 1/2 hour for a soak then resume the wash. Of course, use HOT water. This applies to both top loading and front loading machines.

LCB - I believe stands for - Liquid Chlorine Bleach

My white brightener is liquid dishWASHER soap... it does contain a bleaching agent (not sure what kind).... but putting this in with the detergent always gives my white load a boost.... it also works great for removing spots on WHITES... again it has bleach, or something similar, so don't put it on colors...

Yellowing can be caused by a too hot clothes dryer, and or, excessive bleach use. To get your whites back to point one again, use "Yellow Out" (stores stock this with the stain treatments.) After that, stop using hot water for the whites (warm is more effective for "bio" contaminated things like T-shirts and Undie's) reduce the amount of bleach you'd normally use, and use a powdered detergent (it's stronger than liquids)that doesn't contain an added bleach (I recommend Arm and Hammer/Perfume & Dye Free) rinse twice (back off on the amount of fabric softener too) and dry on lowest heat setting.
If your white's are completely mucked-up due to the use of Tide and Downey you can pour an entire box of Calgon powdered water softener into the machine and let the clothes wash in that prior to using the Yellow Out.
I've had both a front loader and top loader for a number of years now and I can tell you that front loader's are lousey for anything that requires a good scrubbing--don't believe Consumer Reports Ratings between the two classes of machines, they're slanted.
Front loader's are excellent for cleaning things a top loader can't like comforter's, pillow's, tennis shoes, but not undie's.

Automatic dishwasher soap has phosphates in it. That may be what's helping..
