Sticking automatic gas shut off spout
Comments (3)>> Great idea but the spout really needs improvement You got that right. The o-ring unseats easily also. And I have already taken a knife and trimmed off that locking gizmo. I wonder how many federal laws I've violated......See MoreDo we really need all these shut-off valves?
Comments (2)You say one of the "red" valves are for the shower. Are you sure there isn't one for each the hot and cold for the shower. The cold might also control the toilet which then has a second shut-off. I've never known of shut-offs for a shower but personally think it is a GREAT idea. I understand your not wanting to have them on display now that an open vanity has been selected. Perhaps by removing the nut atop the red handle, the handle can be removed. Then, if ever the shower needs to be shut-off, reattaching the handle will enable that to be done. If that is possible, the values will not be as apparent. Otherwise, it is necessary to turn off the water supply for the whole house to work on the shower faucet....See MoreI need a loud kitchen timer that will not automatically shut off
Comments (18)I had a wonderful timer...it had a clip on the back and I could attach it to my shirt.....and it rang until I shut it off. Alas though it wore out!. Since then I have gone through 3 or 4 others....one that was very good, Peppi gave me.....and my son who has "rock band ears"...played in a rock band as a kid and wouldn't pay attention to me about using ear plugs... anyhow he "stole" my timer because he said it was the only timer he could hear. I need one that clips to my shirt ...or hangs around my neck. I remember walking over to a neighbor's who was in his yard....and he saying "Linda, I don't know what you are timing but you only have 2 minutes left!" I need that polder one....and I need to get rid of the 3 in the drawer that you have to punch 45 times to set for 45 minutes!!...See MoreLaundry room - access to shut off valves for washer?
Comments (21)Some realtors do not like to negotiate at all for fear the contract will fall through. My POV is that it does not hurt to ask. However, if you really want the home and think that there is enough competition in the market, you may want to just worry about it later. If that's the only thing wrong with the house it sounds like you found a winner. As long as there is a main shutoff that's easily accessible, then Jeffrey is right. However, some older homes (or those built by short-sighted builders) may not have one. In that case, I'd ask for a main shutoff to be installed where it is easily accessible. We have owned some rental properties where you have to call the city or a plumber to come shut it off....See Moredudleyfuddpucker
