When do you shut off your floor heat?
Comments (15)Just turned mine off. We love the cool tiles on a warm day. Ours is from Flextherm. It has a feedback loop (thermostat) and is silent. However, the manual that comes with it is quite confusing. At least it has default settings that you can use while you're figuring it out. Also, be sure that the warming elements are close enough to your sink to keep your tootsies warm. I challenged my contractor on this just after they installed the wire. He promised the warmth would extend several inches laterally from the wires. It doesn't!!!!!! idiot!!!...See MoreTurn EHD On/Off with a Lamp Timer?
Comments (8)OK. Thanx. Never thot about the energy consumption - just figured it should be shut down when not used for long periods. Make it last :-) Generally itâÂÂs been months between starts. With my new backup zeal (automatic) that would be once a week. Maybe oftener if I get serious. Its an old SimpleTech 300GB (I think) model 96300-40001-001 maybe 8 or 5 years old. No energy star visible. DC adapter 12v 2a. I just turned it on. The adaptor is running the same temp as my handy dandy DSL modem. If the noise and light (red) doesnâÂÂt bother IâÂÂll leave it on. If it does then IâÂÂll get a silent timer. Not counting the graft charges I pay $0.14260 per KWH. $0.16835 graft included....See MoreOven shutting off when timer shuts off?
Comments (14)On my GE Profile, the minute timer is labeled Kitchen Timer (and is subtitled On/Off) and the timed baking function is Cooking Time. Setting the minute timer is matter of pressing Kitchen Timer, entering the time. Press Start to trigger it immediately, or press nothing else and it'll start after a few seconds delay. Pressing the separate Cancel/Off button turns off the timer, and the oven, if the set time has elapsed to beeping ... which is a logical function being as one would reasonably want to turn the oven off at end of the minute timer cycle. Otherwise, press Kitchen Timer when the time has elapsed to shut off the beeping without affecting the oven. If the time is not elapsed, press Kitchen Timer once to pause it (as if to reset the time), then press a 2nd time to cancel the timer....See MoreHave you heard of an a/c shut off switch wired into your doors?
Comments (13)While the idea is logical for lighting, it seems overly complicated for A/C and would do little but reduce the life of your A/C unit. Every time someone opened a door the AC would shut off, then as soon as the door closed a few seconds later it would come back on again. Cycling on and off repeatedly is not good for your A/C compressor, or any electric motor for that matter. Just do it the old fashioned way and make sure windows and doors are closed before firing up the A/C, and make sure people know not to open windows when it's on....See More- 11 years ago
