Public proclamation of paint project. Pics! Need support!

I'm sick of looking at my paint-splotched walls in my family room. I must have test-splotched these walls three years ago. Been living in this house almost 7 years. Enough is enough! I almost don't notice the splotches anymore, until someone says, "Oh, you're painting?" My pathetic response, "Ummm, sure, yeah." Little do they know how long those splotches have been there.

One thing I did decide is that I've eliminated all of the color choices that you can see in the pics. I had used a bunch of leftover paint from previous projects, and even mixed some of the colors to come up with new colors!

I bought the paint I'm going to use last May (yup, that long ago). It's a medium/darkish greenish color - can't think of the name right now. That will be going on the top half of the wall. The trim and the bottom half of the wall (like a wide horizontal beadboard) will be painted Linen White.

My mission today is to devote 2 hours to prepping the walls - clean, spackle, prime. My DH will be off tomorrow, and between the two of us, my goal is to have the room completed by Monday.

I'm posting this so I will be held responsible. Feel free to virtually kick me in the butt if I don't follow through. I need all the cheerleading I can get. I will report my progress with pics.

Go Pam, go awm03!!! I'm off to do a few errands but then I'm going to finish stripping the wallpaper in the MB. It's just on the lower walls, below some chair rail and a border. I'm so over that paper! lol!

UPDATES Ok...Sorry I am not been around...had a sick cat in the house. The other cat and myself, were both busy trying to talk him out of kitty heaven. AnywaysVet was nice enough to charge a visit, and got some kitty antibiotics, he will be going back for surgery later...but, my cat is going to be fine now I think. Things are gradually getting back to 'normal' around here. People have sent me emails, and I am still trying to get caught up. Other than that, I got lots of good news. My phone was disconnected (I hate phones, so this is considered a form of good news) Strangely enought, my mother (whom I speak to on the phone maybe 3 times per decade) got wind of this, and for some reason, she felt determined to pay my phone bill. Luckily, I was able to talk her out of it. I told her, if she really wanted to help me so badly, she could pay the cable bill instead, so I could keep my internet. So, mom to the rescue, I am staying online! My future plants will enjoy a much safer childhood, if I can maintain my access to people who actually know what they're doing. Also, I popped the big question to my uncle on Tuesday. The answer is YES! Since they are going to be gone all summer, and won't be aroung to take care of their garden...my aunt was going to turn most of it into lawn. (EEEK) Instead, he said I can plant some of my plants in there, under the condition I help take care of their stuff too! Oh darn. I'll just have to struggle thru that. (I am really in heaven, but they don't need to know) So...I'm not going to loose contact with the outside world. My cat isn't going to kitty heaven. My garden project is no longer exclusively limited to the boundaries of the apartment, and I'll have a whole yard with a "real garden" nearly all to myself this summer. Can it get any better? YES, it can! The lady who has the "garden of eden" growing on the other side of my aunts fence...apparently she is a human botanical encyclopedia? My aunt just told me that when growing season starts, this woman purposely buys extra stuff, because she like to give plants and seeds away so much! She won't let anyone near her garden (even her husband) but, apparently she loves to answer gardening questions, and come spring... she turns into a real plant-pusher. I'm thinking, if I spend my free time loitering and tinkering around in my aunts yard this summer...I might actually learn about this faster than I thought. Yippe! I really have enjoyed this forum; I've gotton so many great ideas, and have heard from so many nice people here. I may be a poster child for poverty at the moment, but it is only temporary....and I think that by the time my check comes, I will have forgotton how to spend money, and won't remember what I needed it for. This place has really helped stimulate my creativity, and being broke has actually not been so bad. I have managed to come up with the most innovative solutions to problems as they arise, somedays its hard not to see the humor in my situation...overall it has been a rather amusing experience. I have all these containers made from stuff around the house. I've just emptied a coffee can that is about to become a bird house. I traded some cable cords for potting soil and perlite, and now my uncle donated some more to me: He said "it has just been taking up space in the garage." He also gave me paint for my plant containers that he was going to recycle. Someone else is dropping off styrofoam peanuts today. People have offered to send me seeds too, which was the necessary key element I needed before I could start at all. My aunt (a cake decorator) is getting cake flats and lids from her work for me to start my seeds in. She offered to give me some containers she has, that are specifically designed for starting seeds, but I told her that would be cheating..."wouldn't be frugal." I'm just having too much fun trying to find ways to make something out of nothing. Thanks for all the ideas, and support. I need all the help I can get, and I will always be looking for ways to return the favors. I got my garlic babies growing right now in the "nursery" in my fridge. I've gotton alot of good advice about that from people on the "Allium" forums. Anyone want to see pictures? They are absolutly adorable. I better go...but I'll be back. Thanks for everything. Leslie

Several things to do. 1) start with ONE drawer. If you finished that and feel like continuing, do! You'll find that once you start and feel a sense of accomplishment, you want to keep going. 2) Throw anything broken, too dirty to clean, out immediately. 3) Go to Freecycle.com every day when you've cleaned whatever you do. Offer it free. People will come take it immediately. You can leave it outside too. 3) if you don't have any takers for the items, throw them away or put on the curb with a sign "FREE" 4) If you want, donate the rest to thrift shops but put all the items in the trunk of your car so that you'll not have them in the house. It's one step closer to making you actually GO there. 5) If you haven't used it in over a year, it's chuckable/donatable. You will NEVER NEED it if you haven't used it in a year and you will never find a use for it. I know, I do that trap too! I always say "it's nice, I can use that later or make something from it". But honestly, you will not. 6) Really interesting, antique or good quality items, put in one area for selling. Try Ebay before a garage sale. But if you are not going to Ebay it, then give it to family or a church for auction or sale there. 7) don't stop. If you stop, you'll never start back up. You'll accumulate more and be where you are again... you gotta keep going. 8) Break habits. Do not shop. You have enough clothes, shoes and your babies/grandbabies do not need 101 teddy bears... It's adorable in the store (whatever it is) but you do not need it. If you REALLY want it, go home, think about it for a few days and go back for it if it's on your mind. If it is still there, it was meant to be. If not, you probably are better off without it. 9) Take all the money you've made from sale and then take any money you'd of spent by buying something and use it for something that doesn't fill up your house. Like vacation. Or like a dinner out... 10) Lastly, if you DO buy something, then you have to get rid of two items. If you bring a 12 pack of pens into the home, you get rid of 24 things. Even if that's going through your pen/pencil box and checking all the pens for ones that don't work! Hope this helped. I started with the WORST room in the house (kitchen because it has the most glassware etc). I then cleaned it so well...and it was beautiful. Then I went to the second worst, my spare closet. I got rid of 80 suits and old work stuff. I freed up a closet's hanging space. Then I stopped. Major mistake. But I kept the shopping rule and if I buy a new blouse, I get rid of two clothing items. It's kept my clutter down a lot!

I have, at the deep end of that closet, one of those gray metal "garage shelves" style of shelving unit. And like all other "utility shelves," it has way too much space between shelves. Here's how I added shelves NEAT-O IDEA NO. 3 Fortunately, the corner poles have holes for bolting the shelves into place. So I measured the space between the end supports, and sent DH to Home Depot to buy that ClosetMaid shelving for closets (white-coated wire, w/ a dropped lip in the front), because they will cut it to size for you at HD. And I had him pick up some cable ties. I fastened those shelves in place by threading a cable tie through the hole for the bolts. I moved one of the metal shelves down by 4 inches to eliminate headroom. Note how little "air" there is between shelf and box, on all shelves. And you can see where the white shelves are interspersed. I toyed w/ the idea of installing the shelves w/ the lip in the back (so it would be out of the way), but decided it was sagging too much and needed the reinforcement. (it prob. sags in the back, but you can't see it). I'm thinking of putting a third shelf in, placing it in the top gap. That would let me put the very flat boxes there each on their own shelf. If I do that, I will very definitely flip the shelf so that lip is in the back. There won't be much on it that's heavy.

OK, I'll play, I surely need the motivation/public humiliation. We built this house and moved in 1.5 years ago and our LR was C2 Shark Fin, a lovely color, but too, well, blue for me. Over the holiday break I painted the LR BM Pine Grove (mixed in Aura), which looks great, it is the right color for the room. In the meantime mr. sandyponder has put up the trim aroung the ceiling, now it's my turn again to paint the door and window trim that's currently a stunning shade of primer white. I have the BM White Marigold (also mixed in Aura) and I hope to at least make a dent in it this weekend.

Next on the painting hit parade is the mudroom/pantry and the den. I guess I will be on this thread often, as I have till spring to get all of this done (and I work full time), luckily for me spring comes late to these parts...

Here's a before pic of the LR, hope to post an after on Monday.

Darn it. The trim/wainscot color isn't right. In fact, it's the same as the old color. I was wanting to go darker. Will put the wall color up this weekend & take it from there.

Hi all! Great to see other people joining in! I've finished all the sanding, caulking, and priming. Actually, DH did the caulking. We had a lot of gaps where the wall meets the top of the wainscoting trim; the finished product should look much better with that extra step. Tonight, we're going to tackle the top half of the wall - the green. We should be able to do two coats. DH will cut in; I'll roll. Oh, I found the name of the color. It's called "Leafy Rise", and it's from Lowe's. Tomorrow I will paint the wainscoting and trim Linen White. The "thing" that my TV sits on is a built in. I think I'm going to paint that a different color - probably dark brown/black. I don't have the paint for that yet.

Yayagal- good for you and your DH for getting your projects finished! My mother is 70, and she would not know what to do with a paint brush!

Awm03- that's too bad you don't have the right color. Don't you hate it when you have to stop once you've gotten motivated? I'll be right there with you this weekend trying to finish everything. I plan on checking in at least once/day.

Diana- how's the wallpaper stripping going? I hate that job - esp. trying to get all the residue off the wall.

Sandyponder- love your room! You know, I didn't even notice your paint splotches and chips on the walls until I looked at it a second time! See, I do have my blinders on!

Well, I'm off to the paint store because I don't have enough Linen White paint, and I don't want to have to go to the store tomorrow.

This reminds me of a thread on another website where each Monday everyone had to report in and show pics of their finished projects. What a great idea! We could do it here in another thread if enough are interested. A "Post your finished projects thread"!I have a gallon of paint waiting for me in my DR!

Well Pam, I got a little sidetracked at Target. lol! But I now have my grubbs on (painting/work clothes) and all my tools lined up, ready to start in. I did get two small walls next to the bay window stripped a few weeks ago. The worst will be the wall behind the bed since I'll have to move it. Gonna have to get DH's help with that.

Sandy, what a nice room! I like the blue but perfectly understand wanting to change it. I almost missed your paint swatched wall. Is the darker color to the right of the opening and by the white cabinet the Pine Grove?

kmcg85, I like the "post your finished projects thread" idea. Of course you know renofan will probably have 3 to our every 1. lol!

I completed one coat of the Linen White on the bottom half of the walls and trim last night. Was originally going to try to get the two coats of green up on the upper half of the walls, but decided to start with bottom half first. Slept in today and having my first cup of coffee now. DH is in "the room" caulking some areas that we didn't realize needed it until I put that first coat of Linen White up.

Today's goal is to complete the wall (top and bottom) where the couch normally goes so that we can get the couch out of the middle of the room, and back to its original position. Then, I'll go back to my method of doing the lower part of the other walls, then the top (green) sections.

Diana- I understand getting "sidetracked" at Target! Now move that bed, and get the rest of that wallpaper stripped.

kmcg85- I like that idea too!

I'll be back tonight to report in.

All right I,m game. My back splash still isn,t done because I cann,t deside on the color to paint the paintable wallpaper so I might as well move on to the play/guest room .The kids have requested a light blue ceiling with clouds in there. I will get into town to get the paint today and get it done by tomarrow night.

Just checking in for a few minutes. Most of the paper is down except the wall behind the armoire. I'm going to do that this morning (It's 10 a.m. on the west coast), then patch and primer. Got the bed moved, Pam! DH did that and even helped strip the paper on the wall behind it. Of course you know that bed stayed in the middle of the room, resulting in my running into the wall on my way to the potty in the middle of the night. : O

Good for you, Pam, getting all that painting done. Is Linen White a SW color?

Welcome to the "game" madeyna. : ) Clouds on the ceiling in one night - wow! that's ambitious! Please post pics when you finish.

Ok, it's back to work for me. I want to get this all done today since I'm going to a quilt show tomorrow. Plus I don't want to walk into any more walls. No wonder my mama always had a night light in the bathroom. ; )

Usually post on kitchens and appliances, but can I play? Mudroom wallpaper is almost stripped. Good-bye 1980's bunnies!! I'll finish that and get the mini powder room done. Then it's on to the parts of the kitchen that need stripping b/c they stay post renovation.
AND since I'm alone in the house for the first time ever tomorrow night, I'll keep packing the non essentials in the kitchen.

I love reading the progress reports! Need more pics, though - my bugaboo is not wanting to wait to show "finished" pics, & I'm never quite done :(.

I also love the idea of checking in with others on projects. I'm still muddling through my office/stairway project, which is full of little surprises & decisions every step of the way (old house issues)

Excellent progress folks and I agree with moonkat99 that we should post progress pics. I will try to so once, ahem, I make some progress (at least I got the trim paint on my way home from work last night).

myredhouse, the sofa came from, natch, CL and is a Bradington Young about 6 years old I believe.

This is fun! How I can be motivated by a group of people I've never met IRL makes me wonder about myself! Anyhoo, here is a before pic of one of the corners I showed in my original post-

Here is the same corner with the wainscoting painted "Linen White" - a Benjamin Moore color, for the person who asked.

Now that we painted the lower half that color, it's making the brick of the FP look dingy. I think we're going to have the paint the brick Linen White too. Not sure what to do about the mantel and trim around the FP. I'll see how it looks after I paint the brick.

Here's a teaser pic of the green color in another corner of the room. I took it right after my husband cut in, and before I rolled. I mentioned in a previous post that the color is from Lowe's (just their regular line of colors). It's called "Leafy Rise", but I had it mixed by Sherwin Williams. I'm loving the color so far!

Glad to see other people joining in! Keep posting so we can stay on the first page!

I found the perfect fabric for my new DR chairs today... and I've got it cut out. Got the staples pried out of one seat only so far, but I'm workin' on it, not procrastinating. Pix when I have something to show.

Wow! I'm so impressed by all of you. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see all your before and after pics.

1 coat on the wainscoting, trim, & 3 large picture windows. Second coat & some wall prep tomorrow.

Hope y'all get a good night's sleep after working so hard today :)

I got all my drapery hardware and tomorrow we put up the drapes. We're editing the room so we can have a calmer atmosphere. Right now it's utter chaos!!! Love reading what you're all doing. Carry on!!! :-)

2nd coat of trim color is up. DH helped, bless him. Now to check the walls & sand the glitches. Wall color goes up tomorrow.

Yes, I'm working - getting a late start though. Just have one wall to finish (the green only)! Don't have the paint for the built-in entertainment cabinet yet - probably pick that up tomorrow. Got to get to work now. I'll check in later tonight.

All right - I'll join in! I think this sort of motivation will be very good for me :)

This is a little more than painting, & I've done some of the painting, but there's still a fair more to go.

I'm giving my back room/office a badly needed facelift, which started with replacing the leaky, rotting casement windows, & grew into ripping out a dark, overbearing wall of bookshelves. This is what I started with (after the new windows had been installed):

Where I'm at now:

I need to do some more repair at the ceiling & replace the 1/4 round (in the interests of saving time & money & conservation, I'm not buying new ceiling moulding), get some door moulding, have a mirror cut to fit the bathroom window, & paint all of the trim. I'm using motivation from here to shop for the door moulding today, & hopefully get some trim painting done.

I've ordered beadboard paintable wallpaper for the ceiling - hoping hoping hoping that it will be a viable fix for the nasty looking existing ceiling (which is too low to add another layer of anything thick on to it, & raising the roof is simply not an option)

Mooncat, you're doing great!!! My arms are about to fall off from installing the hardware for the drapes. It's all coming along but I'm done for today. We put in six tough hours today so now to relax and see what's going on the real world. I'm off to my t.v. woooooo hoooooooooo sigh

Today's report: I procured my door moulding, finally! & primed & cut it (LOVE my miter saw!), got the ceiling repaired, & got some of the trim painted.

& made a lovely shrimp bisque for dinner in between shopping & painting lol!

And I know that I got that much done because of having put it out, in print, here. Thanks everyone - I love this concept! :)

OK, just finished breakfast & I'm off to tape the woodwork. Burnt orange milk paint goes on the wall today. I'm not loving the trim color, really: too yellow. And I'm not convinced that the orange will work either. But I'm sick of the old sage & blues, so this is my Inauguration Weekend Decorating Plunge: talk about Hope & Change!

Got a preliminary coat on and going back to do the edges. I think I'm going to like pumpkin! So energizing! It looks great with the floor color. In fact, it looks good with a lot of colors. Who knew orange was so versatile?

Here's a slide show. The morning was so pretty, I took pictures of the lovely sunshine before painting . It's overcast now with snow on the way. The last picture is the truest color.

moonkat, that room is looking great! What a nice, cozy spot you'll have soon!

owls4me, I always use wallpaper sizing on my walls before papering. It makes removal of the paper so much easier. When removing the paper, I lightly score it with the tip of a small putty knife and spray the paper with hot water from a spray bottle. Then I start peeling it off with the putty knife. Here's a pic:

I managed to get all the paper off and the room is now painted - Restoration Blue. That was the previous color, too, but it had really faded over the years. I'm at a mile high elevation in So.Cal with tons of natural light so paint and fabrics fade even from northern exposure light. sigh .

Today I'm painting window trim. We replaced all of our windows in the last few years and the bay window in this room is the last one to get finished. I'll be sooo happy when I'm done! : )

awm03, I love the colors you're using. I always had color in my rooms but,since we may sell eventually, we're doing 'SPA" colors to make it more appealing.
Angelcub, that is the most amazing blue, I love it.
Mooncat, you even cooked??? Kudos to you.
I found that most of my wall art doesn't work with these colors so today I ordered online the bamboo blinds I want and then took off to a few stores to find the right table lamp. I found it after three hours. Came home with Chinese food and that was it for me, Hey I'm getting tired. lol
Keep up the good work, we can all have a drink together afterwards.

Just got home from work - it's still a beautiful day here so I'm going to get some gardening (translation: weeding) done, & then hope to get a little painting done this eve :)

awm I love that pumpkin! I admit that I shivered a tiny bit at first on seeing your outside pics, but what a nice view :).

& angel what a beautiful blue! I can really see that blue in a high elevation.

lol yaya - it only took you 3 hours to find the right lamp? I'm impressed ;-D

Keep it up everyone! I look forward to the day we can have that drink together.....

Thanks, everybody. The pumpkin is interesting. As the day grew darker, it read rosy terra cotta, and now in incandescent light, a tomato-y red. I like this milk paint. The colors seem to look good no matter what the lighting.

angelclub, what a pretty wall color. Are you keeping it?

I haven't forgotten about all of you! DH and I finished the bulk of the painting yesterday, and I fell asleep around 8:30 last night! Today I had to take two of my kids to the doctor, so I didn't get a chance to log on until tonight. I am thrilled with the results of my new green/white family room. It looks so cozy! The only things I haven't painted yet are the built-in cabinets which hold our TV, and the double doors that lead into the Study. I also mentioned in a previous post that I'm probably going to repaint the brick on the fireplace, because it looks dirty to me, now that the lower half of the wall has been painted Linen White. I'll take some daytime pics tomorrow of the room, but here is the before again...

I still need to work on hanging things on the walls, but I feel like I made great strides with the paint. It really helped me knowing that others were working on similar projects!

awm03- that pumpkin color is gorgeous! Your outside view looks just like ours. I'm getting a little tired of the snow though!

Diana- I love blue and white together! It looks so soothing. It must have felt great getting rid of the last of the wallpaper. Also, I thought the quality of your pictures was terrific.

Mooncat- Your room is coming along great - love that wall color too! I'm impressed that you've used a miter saw! I have no experience with cutting wood, although my DH has a pretty decent workshop. I wouldn't know where to begin.

Yayagal and Oceanna- thanks for the encouragement - it is appreciated. Would love to see pictures of your projects too.

You have all made great progress, and love all the colorful rooms (our house isn't very big, but there is nary a white room to be had).

Here are a few pics of our LR, walls are finished, trim around exterior windows and one interior doorway finished, the framed opening to the kitchen still needs to be finished and we have to get everything hung back up. Our goal is to have the LR done 1-31-08, it remains to be seen if we make it.

Sandyponder- your room looks awesome - even if it isn't 100% finished! Was it difficult for your DH to install the curved trim on the ceiling? Where did you move the white armoire? My goal is to have all my details finished by 1-25, as we are having a family birthday party that day at the house.

Wow, Sandyponder! It's beautiful. Such great colors, and perfect accesories for the room too. We just had new trim installed like yours: flat board with back band. It's so simple and elegant, don't you think?

I love your paneling (Pickwick paneling). I fantasize about changing out our cheap 60s mass produced paneling to Pickwick paneling. Our FR is currently painted the perfect milky white (Martha Stewart White Crane, SW 8000), but it would be so beautiful if only it had paneling like *yours*. Oops, drooling a bit here :)

Sandy, that looks like a whole new room! The green goes so well with the fireplace and the wood ceiling. Love it!

awm03, the paint color is staying for now. I need to get things done in my living room. I've been wanting a change in there forever so I just wanted to get this room's paper off and painted. Later I will get back to it with new window treatments and new furniture.

I think I've found the fabric for my LR windows. Will post more later, hopefully with pics.

Thanks to all of you for both your compliments and your kick in the [paint] can, I needed it!

pam14, the trim was pretty easy to install, it's very thin and bendable, with 3 evenly spaced beads. We prenailed, with a nail every 2' or so. Cutting it was the biggest challenge, finish carpenters we are not, but mr. sandyponder is so good at plumbing and electrical that it more than makes up for our shared bumbling on finish work.

We moved that white armoire to the game room (room formerly known as the DR), and it's storing all the stuff that was hung up on the walls in the kitchen and LR. It may go to our camp or it may go on CL, I'm not sure yet.

awm03, it's interesting you call our paneling Pickwick, the local lumberyard that sourced it for us called it "butterfly edge" and it's poplar, which paints like a dream (and that Aura, nice stuff).

Thanks again, and all tbe rooms look great. Keep on posting pics. Once I get my next colors lined up (still dithering), I'll post the wall splotches, maybe that will keep my motivation up!

Still loving the concept of this thread, & it's still motivating me. I'm still plugging away on getting my trim & moulding prepped & painted - hopefully will actually have it installed later today :)

The wall color is BM Pine Grove and the trim is BM White Marigold (both mixed in Aura, matte for the walls and semi-gloss for the trim). The Pine Grove is pretty dark (but warm toned) and definitely has some brown in it, but our SW and W facing LR gets very strong light all day, which washes out light colors. The White Marigold is a rich creamy white with green undertones. Our bedroom is also painted green, BM Weekend Getaway, which is more of a spearmint green, kind of cool toned and paired with C2 Milk Mustache (bright white) trim.

Gotta keep this motivation alive!!!

I ran into snags - the sort of snags that run rampant in a 100-yr old house built out of mostly old growth redwood & living in earthquake country. You know the sort - finding a 90 degree angle that's actually true is a rare cause for celebration; pounding a brad into the wood without drilling a pilot hole & praying that the wood won't chomp down & crunch it like a pretzel, spending hours filling & smoothing out the marks that look like they were made by a rabid bear. I love this house, really I do....

Anyway, days after I thought I'd be done with this stage of my office, I finally am! There's more to do, of course - still waiting for the ceiling wallpaper, & I'll be asking for advice about other odd little glitches that the room presents.

I'll take some pics tomorrow in the daylight:)

& how's everyone else doing?

So the LR isn't 100% finished, but it's much closer, and next weekend is filling nail holes, sanding and painting the rest of the trim. In the spring we'll yank out all the cheesy builder grade baseboard (not what we spec'd, but not the hill we wanted to die on with the builder) and replace it with some cedar 2 x 6 boards we're going to rip down to 1" and then rout out some sort of decorative edge.

The BM Pine Grove and White Marigold turned out well and the Aura paint is really nice, goes on well and dries very evenly. Our decorating style is, well, kinda funky/crazy my cousin calls it Mary Engerbart on acid, but since I don't really know who Mary Engerbart is, I can't comment.

Any more progress to report?

sandy I absolutely LOVE your house, decor & colors!! Greens, golds, reds, & wood - I could move RIGHT in & be completely at home :D

I haven't posted my pics because I ran into *sigh* yet another snag - totally my fault this time; I broke the old glass in the bathroom door, & had to completely redo the mirror frame, so between cutting new (old) wood, waiting for layers of paint to dry, & other aspects of life, it isn't done yet.

Moonkat, so sorry about your mishap. Perseverance is everything!

We finished the foyer trim & started in on the dining room. We need to change the foyer color, repaint the family room, & paint trim in a small BR. Then in the spring, I'll go back and paint the sashes in our new windows. I think at this point we're about 70% done.

Sandy, your home looks like a HOME! It exudes the warmth and personalities of its owners. I just know I'd be comfortable there so if you see a strange person on the lovely red chaise reading a book (ok, taking a nap, lol!), it's me! : )

awm03, 70% is a huge accomplishment! Good luck with the windows. I like to paint but windows are my least favorite paint job.

We didn't do much this weekend, which is rare for us. DH was under the weather and it was rainy and cold so we veged out.

I'm thinking this thread is getting long. Maybe we need a weekly proclamation thread. I'll start one and see how it goes.
