The LG's woes result from it running on 120v/15a power, which gives it access to only 1800 watts, compared to the 7200 watts available to a conventional 240v/30a electric dryer. This causes the LG 27"w washer/dryer to take a long time to heat the water in the wash cycle, than even longer to dry the clothes afterward. The only 240v washer/dryer combo available in the US is the Fagor FAS-3612 and FAS-3612X which are excellent (and have a $100 rebate through the end of June), but being 24"w and 24"d they don't hold nearly as much laundry as LG's 27" W/D combo, although it will get your clothes clean substantially faster. There are a several ventless 240v dryers from major brands available, though all that are currently available are 24"w. General Electric, Bosch, LG, Miele, Asko, and Fagor all make at least one. Some of these dump the condensed water down the same drain as your washer (I think all offer this capability, but check to be sure), but some others have the option of collecting the water in a built-in tank that must be periodicaly emptied, which, though less convenient, is essential if you can't place the dryer near a drain. You can pair these dryers with any washer, though only one from the same brand can be attached for stacking directly underneath it, and you'll want to avoid a washer with much larger capacity than your dryer, or any washer that doesn't have a high spin speed (the ventless dryer needs all the help it can get). If you scour eBay, craigslist, and the like, you may, once in a very blue moon, come across a used full-size Frigidaire Filtrator ventless dryer. These are hard to come by now, and there is so much pent-up demand for full-size ventless dryers that they typically sell for much more than a new dryer costs. If appliance manufacturers were more astute than they are, someone would take notice of this and reintroduce full-size ventless dryers, which are so obviously still in demand.

I bought a Miele 3035 (stainless) and vented dryer last year (funny they are still selling 3033 that as it was discontinued in favor of the 3037 which is the newer model.) Didn't go with Bosch as I was told that vented dryer was being discontinued. After my purchase, I read here that Miele was discontinuing their vented dryer -- may be that's the holdup? Between 2 houses I've had both pairs. Hard to go wrong with either. If you want a slightly larger capacity and don't care about very hot water or control then Bosch is a good choice. If you need high heat cycles, excellent control and superior cycles for things like woolens then with Miele.

joelle: Those units look very much like the ones that we installed recently, W6222 washer and T712 dryer. Since the write-up mentions rental use, I assume that some features may have been eliminated to save costs, but you'd have to do a comparison to be sure. One cosmetic difference is that my washer has an outer, drop-down door in addition to the inner glass door. It's just for looks, I guess, since you can leave it open and watch the exciting action inside the washer. We are very happy with these machines, and I would recommend them. I'm not sure what you mean by regular plumbing drains. Do you have laundry machines installed at these locations already? If not, you will need to talk to your plumber and electrician for codes, etc. Note that the washer is 220v, and plugs into the dryer. So you only need one 220v, but it has to be 30 amp, if I recall. Also, your title says "ventless" so I assume you mean the condensation dryer, which is available in that model. We have a vented dryer, so I don't have first-hand experience with the condensation model. From the posts on this forum, many (some?) people don't like condensation dryers, but some do. If you can vent the dryer in some or all of you locations, you might want to consider it, because I imagine that drying times would be quicker. The Asko vented dryers can be vented from the rear or either side, which is a plus as far as flexibility of installation.

I have a Bosch ventless washer/dryer in the bedroom of my master closet and it doesn't add excess humidity. I can't think of any negative reasons not to install one but it seems as though it might be redundant since you already have a laundry on the same floor. In my experience, most people install washer/dryers on the second floor because the other laundry is in the basement so it is a convenience. As you are aware, the ventless units tend to have a smaller capacity than the standard ones that people buy in the US since they were originally of European origin and design where all appliances are smaller. In the US - at least in my experience - they tend to be used as auxiliary units where there is a larger family laundry room or are installed in condos or coops because there isn't a way to retrofit a vented unit and also to some extent, the need for a large machine for a family isn't necessary. But again - if you think having a unit in your master suite enhances your life - why not? Only possible downside is that it takes up a portion of your closet which probably isn't a factor if you have a large home with a large closet. ETA My ventless dryer dries very well so I wouid suspect any problems are related to the quality of the machine as not all appliances are created equal. Anything I put in the dryer winds up dry within a reasonable period of time. I live in a high rise where everyone has a ventless dryer and no one is hanging their laundry to dry except for delicate items which aren't put in a dryer 😂. There wouid be an uproar if someone hung their laundry on their balcony. In some ways my set up is like OP as I have the washer dryer that is operated by my condo down the hall and I use that to wash my down quilt since it is very bulky But for all my normal wash needs, including towels amd sheets, the compact washer dryer in my unit is perfect.
