What to do about an unvented dryer

My daughter recently moved into an older (1980's) apartment complex. A new washer and dryer was furnished. The first time we used her dryer we discovered it was not vented. She contacted the management and they said they would install a dryer box. This box catches the lint and distributes the filtered air back out into her bathroom, thus adding heat and humidity. In West Texas we can use the humidity, but adding heat is unacceptable. Does anyone know if this is within code. We never thought about checking to see if the dryer was vented prior to her signing a lease. I thought all dryers had to be vented to the outside. I tried to find a place on the Southern Building Code Institute web site to post a question, but it is only for members....not the general public. If anyone has some suggestions, please post a response quickly. Thanks, Susan
