Have you read the manual? That should tell you, or Samsung's website.

I wonder if someone actually uses this setup. Mainly I'm concern for 2nd floor, if I stacked them together wouldn't that be dangerous for flooring to put so much weight in one spot? Also will that generate more noise/vibration having dryer on top the washer?

I don't think I'd want to stack them on a second floor. If I stacked them anywhere, I think I'd want to have them on a concrete floor.

Thanks mara_2008, I guess I'll stick to 'inconvinient' setup. I don't want to risk damaging my second floor.

The dryers are usually fairly light. When they delivered my LG pair, the guy lifted the dryer on his shoulders and placed it on top of the washer. The washer was a different matter.

Look and see if the Samsung requires a stacking kit. It's usually a couple of strips of metal that attach to the washer and are designed to hold the feet of the dryer so it doesn't dance around. It would not be nice if it fell off!

Amd111~ For what it's worth, I have a Maytag Epic set. They are stackable also & did require a kit... Just remember if you have to take the feet off the dryer to put them in a safe place!... Anyway, I originally had mine stacked & it didn't seem to cause any problems; no extra noise, vibration, etc... Also, we live in a mobile home, and there was no problem w/ the weight at all, I was also paranoid about this to begin with. Just recently, I unstacked mine to create hanging space in my laundry room, remember the "tip" above? I lost 1 of my dryer feet & DH had to rig up boards of the perfect height to go under my dryer so it was the same height as my washer!

About the venting situation... Why couldn't you buy a longer dryer vent, possibly the expandable periscope vents, and maybe even a longer dryer cord if necessary to put the machines like they're supposed to be? I had to rearrange my laundry room from the way it's supposed to be set up b/c of the depth of my machines, I just bought a longer dryer cord, a periscope vent (these also let you push the dryer further back), and longer washer hoses... All of this stuff is readily available online.

amd111, did you ever stack them? I am in the process of designing/buying a custom shelving system for our laundry room - old house, everything has to be rigged special somehow, and it would free up so much space to stack. Also wanted to let you know I had a heck of a time finding the kit - Samsung will not sell it directly and Sears insisted they didn't have it, but once I got the number from Samsung, I was able to find it on the Sears Parts Direct website (still no luck at the 800 number). The part is SK-3A1, or SK-4A if you want it in stylish chrome.

Logged onto the forum this morning in the hopes that there would be a general discussion about stacking and lo and behold here is a discussion with the exact same model we have - I should have known. :)

You can stack any Samsung laundry set. You don't have to worry about the dryers, because they are normally quiet. The washer is what you should worry about if you do not want noise. Samsung has this technology called VRT and it's extremely reliable. Many pther manufacturers say that their model's the same or as reliable as Samsung but it's not true. I've tested them all.

I have the 337 set stacked on the tenth floor of my condo building. It doesn't move or vibrate whats-so-ever! I know that condos are constructed differently but my friends that have this set and placed them on the main floor or second floor of their home and the laundry set doesn't make a peep. In regards to installation: You just have to make sure it's installed correctly.

I was able to stack non-compatible models of Samsung Washer and Dryer. The washer broke and we brought a new Samsung Washer WF42H5000. Older Samsung dryer model is DV206AES/XAC. As per Samsung the new washer WF42H5000 was stackable only to a relatively new dryer model DV42H5000EW/AC. But we were not happy to buy a new dryer as old dryer was working good. This is what we did:

1. New Samsung Washer WF42H5000 will be at the surface. Stacked the old dryer on top of it.

2. Used old (which was already existing in the previous set-up) stacking kit. I don't know its name.

3. The handy man bored/drilled new slots in the behind of the washer so that the steel bracket from dryer correctly fitted to the new washer slots. That's it, we were done.

4. The washer runs without any problem, no vibration. It runs normal.

5. Please make sure that both washer and dryer are of same width, in most cases it will be same, say 27 inches.
