So I got the Miele Diamante Plus G2143SC installed yesterday. I ran it through two Rinse & Hold cycles first and then did a Pot Scrubber with detergent added so that the inside was clean of any manufacturing residue. I loaded it up with lunch and dinner dishes and pans that evening and ran it on the Normal program (the Turbo mode was off). I stayed near the kitchen the entire time and it sounded like it filled with water, pre-washed, drained, filled, pre-washed again (why?), drained, filled, washed (heard detergent door open), drained, filled, rinsed, drained, dried. Also, during the end rinse (which took about 30 minutes total), the last 15 minutes it sounded louder, like it was using higher water pressure. The entire time using the Normal cycle from start to end when it drained the final rinse water was 2 hours! The original GE Profile I had 3 years ago took about an hour using Normal, and the Electrolux from 2 years ago was about 1.5 hours. Tonight I going to use Normal again, but also with the Turbo mode turned on and see if there is any difference. Whenever it starts to fill with water, there is a slight is slight gurgling sound, but it only last for about 5 seconds and then fills pretty quite. During the pre-wash, wash, and rinse, it was very quite while running (more so than the GE and Electrolux I owned). I did hear (at the local Miele showroom) a Optima in use a few weeks ago (it has Q3 noise level) and I think it was a tad bit quieter than this Diamante (Q2 noise level) but not by much. When we checked it this morning, everything was perfectly clean (dishes, posts, pans, plastic cups (we don't use real glass glasses too often), and silverware. The plastic cups were dry except on a few that concave on the top where there was some water puddle. There was also a plastic storage container that was used to store left-overs. It was clean, but also has some water on the top part. Everything else was dry and spotless. So with only 1 use down, we're relatively happy with our purchase, and baring any problems down the road, I'd consider buying Miele again. A few other nice things about the way it's made, unlike most other dishwashers (including the GE and Electrolux we had), is that the exterior has it's own sealed enclosure on the sides and top, where most other brands you can see the fiber-insulation on the sides and top. This unit was side mounted (due to granite counters). The way it works is there's two screws on each side top and bottom, right before the water-seal. But instead of it drilling into the sides of the cabinet, they instead push a piece of metal onto the side of the cabinet that hold the dishwasher in place. This is nice, as it eliminates any drilling into the wood, but still holds it very firmly.

I'm so happy that you created this post because about 20 years ago I installed an Asko in a kitchen remodel and absolutely LOVED it! I never knew anyone else that owned one and somehow Bosch has gotten a lot of press over these years. Now I'm in a new house and hate the Bosch that came with the house and am doing a kitchen upgrade and in my search can't find hardly anything on the Asko dishwashers. I went to an appliance store and they were promoting Kitchen Aid so I was kinda going to go that route. Now with the shortage, I decided to find out about the lead time for an Asko and call different high-end appliance stores. I found a place that said they are receiving a shipment in early January. This time the lady I spoke with said that they sell many Asko's and that since SubZero/Wolf took it over many customers buy because of that connection. I was reassured after speaking with her and also this thread gave me the confidence again that I once had in Asko. It's just so strange that you don't find any comparisons or information on Asko. It's as if they are a non-player in the indutry but sounds like they are with those in the higher end world. Seriously I can't tell you how much I loved my Asko. I never had to rinse my dishes and that always impressed my guests. I mean why else do I need a dishwasher if I'm going to rinse or wash before???!!! Yay. I'm getting my Asko once again and I can't wait!! I'll try and come back here and post my experience since I'll have a fresh comparison with my current Bosch.

Would like to add my two cents regarding the Asko dishwasher: Purchased their basic model (D3112) back in 2003 to replace a broken KitchenAid. Our options were limited to either Asko or Miele due to a height limitation (previous homeowner installed a new floor on top of the old one; our choices were to tear up the new floor, tear out new coutertops, or go with the dishwasher that fit the space - not a difficult choice). We decided to go with the Asko based upon the fact that there was a $400 price difference between the two - and for us, that was substantial. I will say that it took four visits from the installers to finally get the job done right - but that's the installers fault, not Asko's. We quickly realized that very few people actually knew how to properly install our dishwasher - and if it isn't installed properly it will malfunction. For instance, the first installer wanted to undo the high loop even though the instructions said not to in bold letters. I pleaded with the installer, he said I didn't know what I was talking about. I showed him the manual (it states that if the high loop is undone, the warranty is void). He decided to do it the right way afterall, but as it turns out, he then forgot to pop out the plug in the disposal. He turned the machine on to test it and a few minutes later, my kitchen was flooded. I called the store manager and the following week I had a new machine, a huge refund, and a more experienced installer who did a great job. He also explained two very important things about European dishwashers: they only need a teaspoon of detergent and DO NOT PRE-RINSE the dishes! If you follow those rules, your machine will work wonderfully. He really stressed this and explained why: If you use too much detergent, the machine produces excess suds. But the machine can't tell the difference between suds and water, so it thinks there is water in the bottom of the machine and it keeps trying to drain it. Eventually the motor burns out. He also stressed that we should never buy the fancy pre-portioned detergent cubes - they're a waste of money and will cause the machine to malfunction (again, too much detergent). Four years later, we love the Asko! We follow his advice faithfully and have never had a single problem. We never pre-rinse and everything comes out sparkling clean. I love the condensation drying method - no energy required due to heat retained in the stainless steel interior. I love the minimal water usage. I love how quiet it is - our kitchen is an open plan that looks out onto the family room - trust me, it's super quiet. We love that it was so much less expensive. Granted, we chose the basic model - few options means fewer things that can go wrong. Also, for us, four cleaning cycles is plenty. We use the same cycle everyday. Love the cool LED light too - silly I suppose, but whatever. Anyhow, just felt it was important for people to remember that if a machine isn't installed properly or used properly, it will malfunction. That isn't the fault of the machine or the manufacturers. IMHO - most Americans are using way too much detergent, waste way too much water pre-rinsing their dishes, and fail to read instructions. Our Asko, one properly installed, has been fantastic. So much so that we're buying one to replace the piece of crap that came with our newest home purchase. I was sad to leave my Asko in the house I sold. BTW, I was sure to leave the instruction manual and my tips for the buyer. They actually contacted me recently to let me know how much they love the Asko too. Hope this helps everyone. As PP mentioned above, the average joe just doesn't care - they load the machine, drop in a dose of detergent (and in a lot of cases, actually overdose above what the manufacture states) comeback to wet clothes to move to the dryer and as long as look and smell clean - they're happy/not bothered. However, for those who do care, it becomes just like chemistry - everybodys laundry is completely different: detergent type, water type/temp/level, machine type, cycle type/temp, load size, fabric type in the load (and what's loaded in together or not), stain types and even down to how long an article has gone between last wash, what its been subjected to, and even what its made of (2 items of 100% cotton could be different due to manufacturing processes and dyes etc) - I'm waffling, but this list won't even be all that's at play. Detergent manufacturers are a business, they need to make money; they have stakeholders, employees, suppliers, contractors and marketers to pay - so they must drive value and revenues. Don't' suppose it'll ever be proven (or ever admitted), but it's in their interest to give customers what they're happy with/what is acceptable, whilst maximising revenue - end of the day, if they dont make money, what are they doing it for? I did read somewhere (and I wish I could remember where) that a certain big manufacturer of a very famous detergent was starting to see revenues drop to a level below what they were aiming for/happy with, and it was centred around the launch of single dose detergents - on the one hand, they carry a premium price tag and it guarantees that a user gets no more than the stated amount of loads - but what they actually found was customers weren't purchasing detergent at the store as often due to the fact that compared to when the same users were using powder/liquid format, the overdoing (just dumping 1 full cap in) was causing people to repeat purchase more often than that of pod users. And what do you know, the dosing recommendations for pods were increased - going from 1 pod for any load, to 1 for medium, 2 for large and 3 for high capacity/extra dirty. The same has now become true of liquids - dose increased - line 1 for medium, 3 for large and line 5 for "full he loads" as "they are a higher capacity than standard top loaders and of course more clothes = more dirt)" --their tag line-- All this in a time when detergents are becoming more "concentrated" and front loaders use as much as a quarter the amount of water than that of a TL. Now how can detergents be being concentrated, Used in machines that use less water (which is what will ultimately determine the strength of the solution that detergents are dissolved within) and the doses are going up? Add this to the fact that washer manufacturers often say use less than recommended. Makes you think.
