Help With Shiloh Cabinets - Soft White
Comments (4)I recently ordered Shiloh Homestead Shaker cabinets in soft white. Unfortunately, they haven't been delivered, yet. I do have a few pictures of the door style in my house with the cream colored trim we have in the house. The trim is beige cream from Muralo. The soft white is a pretty good match; not too white, not too yellow or beige. We installed wide pine floors when we bought the house 9 years ago and will be installing matching floors in the kitchen. The pics below show the off-white door (perimeter cabs), the Alder w/heritage stain (not the door style we ordered) for the peninsula, and our possible back splash tile. The pine floors in the pictures are in the dining room and are 'distressed'. Also is a kashmir white sample which I have decided against. We are doing Silestone Stellar Nights (DH's choice) on the perimeter and granite on the peninsula. Comments (0)I saw the Shiloh cabinets in person today - people like them so much on this site - and I really do like them. I saw the Square Flat, Homestead, Heritage and Richmond styles. Polar white seems to be the one on display. I'm thinking square flat with beaded inset - also liked the richmond with plain inset. Does anyone like theirs? I see a lot of pictures doing a search but many refer to them as inset cabinets and don't specify which types they are. TIA!...See MoreColor match to Shiloh polar white?
Comments (22)Did anyone ever get an answer on a BM or SW paint for trim when you have polar cabinets? My builder was thinking a more stark white (pure white or extra white) to go with the window colors but I’m nervous of it making the cabinets looks yellowish....See MoreAcadia white cabinets vs linen white . . . thoughts!
Comments (24)I see a lot of gray in both cloud white and white dove - less in cloud white but it is still there a bit. The Velvet white has no gray in it and is more of a warm white, but no highlighter yellow and lighter than linen white by a few shades. It is still quite a bit darker/creamier than both cloud white and white dove. I did read, in my search for the perfect cabinet color, a decorator (in the House Beautiful 500 best paint colors thing) say that when linen white looks too yellow, he sometimes mixes it with decorator's white. That was too complicated for me and my quick decision but if you have some time, you could buy a sample of each and play with the proportions a bit. . . Oh and trying to find that quote (I didn't find it) - I found this and a picture. . . It's true the whites I use are not all the same shade, not even in one room. I use Benjamin Moore Linen White quite a bit, but I use it in various densities. I mix it with pure white to take the edge off the commercial color, which is always slightly too blue. I do the baseboard and trim in the brightest white because it sparks up the room and really plays up the architecture. The living room walls here are two parts pure white to one part linen white, while the trim is five pure whites to one linen. Linen White ages so well, you don't get tired of it. In my own little house in the country I painted the walls in it 20 years ago and I still like it. Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreRelated Professionals
