Ordered the Speed Queen washer, hope it was the right decision
Comments (2)I don't see how you can go wrong. All the new technology added to washing machines is for energy efficiency or marketing nonsense (steam, etc.) I spent a year with an HE frontloader and loathed it. For $1500, I expected an appliance that would make life easier, not harder. A machine that would got clothes cleaner with less effort. A machine that didn't take all day to wash clothes. For those who say Europe has used front loaders for decades, I would say yes, but not the giant-sized, hyper-efficient water-starved machines that are for sale today. They don't use enough water to wash and rinse properly and I'll never be convinced otherwise or purchase another. A year of experience with it was enough proof for me....See MoreHelp me make a decision (or make it for me)
Comments (42)I was very pampered as a child. Toys, dolls, books, you name it, I had it. My Mom saved a few of my Little Golden Books.(The Pokey Little Puppy,The Saggy Baggy Elephant, etc.) She gave them to me to keep when I got married and had a house where I could store them. I think she was de-cluttering more than anything. I held onto them, looked at them once in a while. I eventually had two daughters. When one was a toddler, I gave her one of the books to look at. She started tearing out the pictures! Tried again when both were older and in school (more responsible) but by then they were not interested. They liked their school books better. So I donated all my old books to a local charity (Salvation Army). I went back a few days later and saw them on display. I don't know what happened after that but I knew my kids didn't want them. And I was rid of them without actually throwing them out.Maybe a young mother with little money bought them for her child. At least that's what I'd like to think....See MoreHELP!! I can't make paint color decision!
Comments (141)Amberley- We are going for an unfitted look in our kitchen and have had a pine work island table an 2 jam cupboards custom made and because of budget the rest of the cupboards will be Ikea Tidaholm. We're doing alot of customizing ourselves so although they might not be our first choice in doors they are a simple shaker that we think will blend in well with our other period pieces. I would really like to have the doors sprayed but cannot find a single place in Toronto who will spray them in F&B. Most places like to use their own brand. I know you can't color match BM to F&B and thats why I don't want to waste Old White on the cupboards. I thought it would be easier to pull off a cream/off white color in BM and use Old White on the walls. We're putting on a fairly large addition and doing all our own work so having someone else paint the cupboards is a gift we decided to give ourselves.I guess the other alternative is to break down and just do it.The problem with that is that they have to be sanded as well, my least favorite job, I think I recall that you were going to go with Ikea doors as well or order from Shers(spelling?) Did you paint your own and if so what kind of a finish did you get? Your kitchen is going to be gorgeous and your house looks beautiful as well. It's old is is not? Theres nothing like old American Architecture....See MoreHelp with bathroom paint colors and making a decision please!!
Comments (1)After looking at this picture and researching, does anybody think this color is BM Quiet Moments or is a lighter color than that? The picture when I found it was labed "green and brown bathroom". I would not be opposed to painting my vanity an espresso color or something similar to the color in the pic in order to achieve this look. Thanks again for any and all help...I am in desperate need!...See MoreCarrie B
