mysteryclock I just had my Axxis dryer fixed once and for all. What an ordeal. Really would have been easy if I got the right repairman right off the bat. I've been all over this forum trying to figure out what has been up with my machine. I knew it wasn't right. It just took forever to dry and then eventually i kept getting this huge puddle of water under the machine after a while. It was drying sometimes and acting funny at others. Ultimately after 4 service calls and replacing all the parts on the entire dryer, it turned out to be the heater. For anyone with a condensation dryer, i cannot stress this enough- get your machine checked once in a while. I had 4 blissful years with it and it was telling me gently that something was wrong by slowly wigging out. If i would have had it looked at when it was just acting weird, I would have had to replace far less! I got a GREAT Bosch tech, who i would highly recommend to anyone in the LA/Pasadena area. It took me a while to find him but he fixed the problem in less than an hour once he diagnosed it. If anyone wants to have their Bosch or other German appliance fixed, call Ricky at Appliance Masters. I've heard some of their techs are not so hot. This guy was a senior tech and he was the best. After all the drama with this machine and service call after service call, i'd say this guy has a halo and angel wings! He fixed it in less than a hour once the parts were ordered. These high end German appliances are great unless something is off. I have had probably 5 repairmen with my various German appliances in the last 6 months. All of the good ones said the same thing- great appliances unless you are having a problem with them. I guess the moral of the story is- it's better to pay a bit to maintain and get check ups once in a while rather than wait until the machine goes up in flames or in my case out in a puddle of vaguely warm water. All it needed was a new heater, not a complete overhaul, which i wound up with anyway. In my house full of Gaggenau, Liebherr and Bosch, call me converted. I'm going to get these insanely expensive appliances looked at frequently so they stay calibrated. It seems to make all the difference in the world. I'm humbled and feel kind of bad that this was such a colossal headache. I still love my washer and dryer. It's the best purchase I've made, with a close second being the Gaggenau dishwasher. I love me some German appliances!!

Cold water over time is highly corrosive and now we introduce a feature that makes that look clean. Boiling off water to make steam is a great way to make a science fair project inside your washing machine. What a combo - an appliance to clean clothing coupled with a pool of disgusting mineral laden crust sitting inside a steam generator. I'm sure glad LG got everyone believing this was a good idea. Clearly a feature designed by the marketing department not the engineers.

If you can only afford the steam feature in one appliance, I would recommend the washer as the steam really gets stains out. Insofar as getting wrinkles out with steam in the dryerforget about it unless you have only two or three garments in the machine. IÂve used the steam feature on my dryer and all I can say is the iron companies have nothing to worry about. I thought the steam feature on the washer was a gimmick for stainsÂnot so, it really works. However, be careful to check for colorfastness; I had a set of towels I purchased from MacyÂs that I used the steam feature on and it took out the color with the stains! I can't use bleach because of a allergies and a skin condition; the steam really got my white things white again. BTW, my clothes are not as wrinkled with my FL large capacity as there were with my large capacity top loader. In fact, my husband could wear his causal clothes right out of the dryer if I werenÂt an obsessive compulsive who ironed everything before I put it away. I have the Samsung 338Âs and I LOVE them! Not only are they super quiet in my 2nd floor laundry room, but the wash features galore give this super picky obsessive compulsive housekeeper all the wash options she could possibly want. There are only 2 of us in the house; still I do about 6 loads a week, plus I wash the 3 large bathroom mats from my master bathroom once a week. IÂve used just about every combination of wash options and dry options on my machines and they performed excellently. IÂve even used the delay start time when I wanted to have a load ready to put in the dryer one morning at 6 am. If you decide to buy pedestals, it is absolutely essential that you do not allow the installers to turn your washer upside down to install the pedestals. I told them not to flip my washer and dryer at the time of purchase and they said they would not do it. Yet when they came to deliver, they flipped my dryer, and I refused delivery on it (my husband took the serial number off it to make sure they didnÂt try to send the same machine to us). The installer told me they flip the washers and dryers all the time and that as long as the shipping bolts were in it was okay to flip them. I told him it was never okay to flip a machineÂwith or without shipping bolts. When I spoke to the delivery department at LoweÂs they told me SamsungÂs rep had just paid them a visit and told them to stop flipping the washers because it throws the drum off balance and does other damage, but that it was okay to flip the dryers. I told the guy when he pays for my dryer, then he can flipÂuntil then, he ainÂt flipping nothing IÂm paying for. I then called the Operations Manager and made it clear that anything I pay for will be delivered as I specifyÂhe agreed and a new dryer was delivered. IÂve only had my machines since weÂve moved into our new home at the end of March, but so far no problems. I dry the door, rubber seal, and the soap dispenser after the final load, then leave the door ajar and the soap dispenser open to air dry. I donÂt want mold to developÂit only takes a couple of minutes of my time and I have my husband trained to do the same already so itÂs no big deal. But then again, when you suffer from OCD, not much is a big deal when it comes to housework.

I had already written on another thread that I just purchased the Samsung 328 so I'll paste some of that here: *********************************************************** A little over 5 years ago I bought an LG WM2277HW - and now it's kaput. The maintanence history was not extraordinary - the motor had to be replaced shortly after the manufacturer's warranty ran out, but to LG's credit it was replaced without charge. I noticed that the new LG's have a 10 year warranty on the motor (guess I wasn't the only one with a motor problem) But now my LG has blown electronics and bearings, estimated $1,000 to repair. In a matter of two days I've purchased a Samsung WF328AAW. It's a little bigger than my LG with a few other snazzy upgrades pertaining to Samsung. ($750 from Best Buy using a price match from Frys sale). The LGs still looked good but I just could not bring myself to buy another LG because my old one should have lasted longer. I figure the Samsung and LG are comperable, I just decided to give my business to Samsung this time. I most definitely prefer a FL because I like to wash bulky things like comforters, stuffed animals, throw rugs, sleeping bags, etc. My daughter has many household allergies so I like to wash all that stuff regularly and I used the extra-hot sanitary cycle on anything that could handle the heat (supposedly kills dust mites). I probably use the extra-hot sanitary cycle every-other-day and believe that that is why I've never had a problem with mildue/mold I need the onboard heater. I also liked the hand wash cycle on the LG, unfortunately the Samsung I bought doesn't have that cycle. I plan to keep the LG dryer - I don't care if the washer and dryer don't match, they're in the garage. The Samsung washer is scheduled for deliver on Monday - it will take me a couple days to catch up the laundry, when I get a good feel for the washer I will post my experience. ********************************************************** Houserookie - your model is fancier than mine: bigger capacity, steam, and more washing options. I had the salesperson put in the delivery order to be sure to leave the machine in the box and DO NOT remove the shipping bolts until the machine is almost in place. The salesperson said that the delivery guys already know that but I had her add it anyway. I really liked my LG, but it should have lasted longer. After reading this forum I'm beginning to wonder if I was using way too much detergent and I am to blame for its demise - I'm a little compulsive about cleaning products - I always put in the amount written on the pachage and maybe a little more. Then I read on this forum about people using one or two tablespoons detergent. This time I'll try to control myself and not over-do it. I used various HE detergents over the 5 years, they all seemed fine EXCEPT the Costco Kirkland liquid HE. That's when the LG motor broke down. Now I stay away from generic brands. Not long after that I noticed that Costco didn't carry it anymore. Maybe I'll try Charlie's soap. I've got a mountain of laundry building up for the delivery. Hope there isn't much of a learning curve.
