Autumn-it is! It's the Electrolux slide in induction with double ovens. Although the 2nd oven is just the bottom drawer, but should still work for cookies, roasted veggies, etc. We haven't really had a chance to fiddle with it too much yet-it was just hooked up on Monday. I'm super stoked about induction cooking especially for the ease of clean-up. This house had an induction cooktop when we moved it, but it was literally one of the first US models available-installed in 1981. Only one burner worked, and not very well. I think the only thing I ever made on it was eggs. I got a screaming deal on this unit from an overstock dealer. It's new, and I probably could not have afforded it full price either. I found the unit on eBay after a tip from here to search there for appliances. The guy was within an hour drive so I talked DH into going to pick it up. Nosoccermom-I like that idea a lot. I picked up a grey as well as white shade. I'm thinking the white may be just TOO much white, and introduce yet another shade of white, but I'll definitely post the photos for opinions. Amanda-thank you! I think you are right that dark would be way too busy. I'll pos pics with white an d gray colors.

Dream It Can be: i can tell you that I LOVE the cambria for two main reasons. 1) you can never tell its dirty. yes, I shouldn't admit this but I don't always wipe up right away. Everything disappears on this counter. 2) no worries at all. I know granite is sealed and shouldn't stain but I know for sure that this won't. I've been handwashing my dishes and leaving them on a dish towel to dry without any concern. I might not have any problem with granite but I would still worry. I think you'll love it too. Oh and a 3rd reason - everyone who comes in actually thinks it's granite. The Cambria designs took a big leap forward in 2011. On all who posted on fixes for the glass doors - I'm going to investigate some of your suggestions this weekend. I'll let you know how that works out. Lastly, how kind you all are. You were encouraging and supportive before the final pics. never did you say, "OMG what have you done?" Only now that the final product has turned out well (love is in the air) have you admitted that you too were worried! I love it. That's the kind of friends one needs during a kitchen remodel. :)

I am not happy with the outlets in the pantry, think I will decouppage these so that they are much less apparent. michoumonster - No special finish on the fireclay tiles, this was just the way they came. Hi a2 - thanks! Did you say you were finished? Wahoo! IowaCommute - thanks for the kind compliment, of course I was worried about not being happy with these, it took forever to select our final choices. I think I can accessorize and decorate around these, when I want a change, so no, at this point, I am not worried about growing tired of these. Decouppaged outlet I should have used plugmold - curses!!!! Also, don't like the grouted vertical corner line, stands out too much. Need to lighten...

didn't have time to read all the answers. I have no backsplash and have never regretted it...been over 6 yrs. It is painted with BM matte...which has ceramic in it. It is as beautiful now as it was when first painted. I love the fact that I can showcase other things ...art etc in my kitchen and no competition. Also if I ever want to change it is as quick as a paint brush...expense is minimal..paint only ! All in all I think it is serene as you point out . Here is one pick. Since I have a lot of high heat cooking in my kitchen..built in deep fat fryer as well as gas cook top I can definitely speak to the longevity of paint only. c ( more at this album )
