Try_hard Sorry for the long post. It's interesting to see all the terrible reviews of the Kenmore Oasis. My family and I bought my gradmother a Maytag Bravos washer, the sibling machine to the Oasis. Because the Oasis, Cabrio and Bravos are essentially the same machine, it makes me wonder if my poor grandmother is going to have to deal with a malfunctioning rust bucket sometime soon, just as johnner1999 is concerned about his/her Cabrio that's on the way. However, I have noticed that the reviews of the Bravos are almost polar opposite of the Oasis' with the Cabrio's reviews being more of a mixed bag. Albeit a few negative reviews, most reviews of the Bravos are positive. This, and the fact that the Bravos made it's debut way after the Oasis did, (so most of the bugs the Oasis has were worked out by the time the Bravos came out) are my only reassurances that my grandmother will not have to deal with the headache of a malfunctioning washer. But aside from that, my grandmother absolutely loves her Bravos! It has a sheets cycle, a whites cycle and a colors/jeans cycle as well. I mention this because these cycles may suit your needs based on the way you sort your laundry according to the list you have above. It has a HUUUUUUGE capacity and therefore can wash things like big comforters and pillows. It also rinses very well by utilizing ths unique spin/spray rinse technique that it does several times before going into the final spin. It will also utilize this same spin/spray technique before the main wash cycle while mixing the water sprayed onto the clothes with detergent if you select the stain treat option. In general, I feel the Bravos is an excellent product and highly recommend it! You may also want to consider the GE Harmony as well as nwesterner mentions. The Harmony seems to get glowing reviews from owners on this forum and elsewhere. It does not seem to have all the problems the Oasis has. Nwesterner, Whether the Harmony is better that the Cabrio or Bravos (which both seem to get better reviews than the Oasis), I'm not sure. I have no experience with the Harmony, only the Bravos. Also worth checking out are the Fisher and Paykel washers, which also seem to get great reviews here and elsewhere. Lastly there is also the Haier Genesis, another HE TL washer that I do not know anything about other than it's existence, but it's another option. Hope this helps! UPDATE Ack - well, I'm still scared about the LG - but let me tell you where things stand. Thank you all for your advice - I was reading everything before I went out yesterday afternoon. Checked out the Whirlpool Duet, Sports, Bosch and LG yesterday. Thought I was decided on the Duet from a local appliance place until I checked out the LG at Best Buy. In part b/c the LG is about 2" less deep than the Duet (and therefore a better fit for our space - the Duet would just fit - if it fits at all) - we decided to go with the LG. Decided to bite the bullet and go with the 2487 - for $300, let's get STEAM! Well, we need a machine right away and the 2487 was on backorder and couldn't be delivered till March 18 - unacceptable! So - long story short(er) Best Buy brought the price of the 2688 washer and dryer down to the price of the 2487 (plus $40)! How could we pass that up? Plus 2 years 0% interest and $250 off to match a sale at Home Depot! The price of the 2688 came out to $1149 which I think (correct me if I'm wrong) is a great price for the 2688. Pedestals were $179.99 each! (we decided not to stack) and I need to see if I can find them for less anywhere. Of course, now I am still freaking out over the amount of $$ this will be and wondering if I should (a) - just go back to a much less expensive - but good top loader or (b) look for a less expensive frontloader (maybe the LG 1812 or WM 0462 recommended by consumer reports) - I never imagined I would even contemplate spending so much on a washer/dryer. I figure I have until tomorrow to cancel the order (washer being delivered Wednesday) and I am still SO CONFUSED! Any additional advice welcome - I really don't *need* all these bells and whistles - going to think long and hard today about whether there is a less $$ FL out there that would still suit our purposes. (as cool as steam is - we just don't *need* it). Well, after reading, research (thanks everyone for your input), this afternoon I bought the Harmony Washer/Dryer at Lowes. Ended up that I really didn't have much of a choice after all between the Whirlpool Cabrio and the GE Harmony after finding out how tall the washer lid was.....would have had to take out the cabinet above the washer in order to accommodate it. That wouldn't work...would mean a remodel for my narrow laundry room. Just glad I discovered this before ordering them. Anyway, think I got a pretty good price at Loews (they matched another local large retailer whose price was $200 less) plus are giving store credits to the tune of $200, so I'm satisfied. Plus they have a better return policy and better customer service from what I've read. Now I'm wondering how hard it is to program the Harmony.....one salesman told me his store had only 1 return from someone who just didn't want to deal with it.....hope it really is easy! I did get the extended warranty for $169 just in case! Thanks again everyone.

Just go to the rebates page on the Lowes site and look for rebates: http://www.lowespromos.com/home.asp and select your purchase date, Whirlpool, Major Appliances and the rebate for a W/D pair is $100, plus a delivery rebate. Because the combined rebates on the Whirlpool are so good, I may go with the Duet wfw9200SQ. As I recall from reading these forums 6-12 months ago, there were a lot of messages about the Duets/Kenmore HT's "throwing" error codes (door lock and an F11 (?, control board error?). Are these still occurring with the new 9200sq -9600TW or have Whirlpool solved the problems? Second, as I recall from this site a year or so ago, there is a way to "force" a profile wash on the Duets. Did it involve starting in a low temp cycle, pausing, and then selecting a high temp cycle to force the heater to step the temperature up? Does this still work on the new 9200SQ, or is there a better way. Finally, if I decide to splurge, how are the new Duet 9600TW Steam washers doing? Any problems?
