I did the opposite. I bought a FLer (Bosch Nexxt 500) and traded it for a HE TLer (Cabrio HE). I love my Cabrio. I exchanged the Bosch because there were vibration issues with my floor, and because it did not give me an adequate rinse. I was tired of adding double and triple rinses to every load after a week. There was no sudsing issue, I never got a suds warning once, but I have severe skin problems and the FLer was leaving residue on the laundry and causing my skin to flair up. So I got the Cabrio HE and it does a much better job rinsing. I only do a second rinse on towels and bedding (I have always done that). It washes well, and I have never had any problems with wrinkling or tangling. Interestingly enough, I recently purchased the Duet dryer because my old dryer finally died. I did not like the Cabrio dryer. They work great together. Yesterday I finished washing and drying 4 full loads in 3 hours and 45 minutes! Nice! It is very easy to use. I took my Kenmore oasis TL back due to problems. I purchased the Kenmore HE5T FL (no steam). I have been using them for one week and they are great so far.

Having owned an Oasis set for about 10 months(junk and rust bucket) we went with th e FL and lov it. no more off balance loads, uses less water, four months now and no repair men visiting regularly. The Oasis and Caribo are the same and will rust under the top real fast and creat problems.............I know we have been there and did that.

Is the GE Harmony a better machine than the Whirlpool produced Cabrio/Oasis? What is the difference in water usage between an HE TL and a FL? Thanks

I just bought a Cabrio set -- switched from an older FL (only 2-3CF) with really small opening.. My question is I see these posts about rust which is not making me happy. Mine comes in on Saturday -- the one we bought has the class top? Is that better as it should not rust; or is an other piece rusting? And what causes this issue?

Sorry for the long post.

It's interesting to see all the terrible reviews of the Kenmore Oasis. My family and I bought my gradmother a Maytag Bravos washer, the sibling machine to the Oasis. Because the Oasis, Cabrio and Bravos are essentially the same machine, it makes me wonder if my poor grandmother is going to have to deal with a malfunctioning rust bucket sometime soon, just as johnner1999 is concerned about his/her Cabrio that's on the way.

However, I have noticed that the reviews of the Bravos are almost polar opposite of the Oasis' with the Cabrio's reviews being more of a mixed bag. Albeit a few negative reviews, most reviews of the Bravos are positive. This, and the fact that the Bravos made it's debut way after the Oasis did, (so most of the bugs the Oasis has were worked out by the time the Bravos came out) are my only reassurances that my grandmother will not have to deal with the headache of a malfunctioning washer.

But aside from that, my grandmother absolutely loves her Bravos! It has a sheets cycle, a whites cycle and a colors/jeans cycle as well. I mention this because these cycles may suit your needs based on the way you sort your laundry according to the list you have above. It has a HUUUUUUGE capacity and therefore can wash things like big comforters and pillows. It also rinses very well by utilizing ths unique spin/spray rinse technique that it does several times before going into the final spin. It will also utilize this same spin/spray technique before the main wash cycle while mixing the water sprayed onto the clothes with detergent if you select the stain treat option. In general, I feel the Bravos is an excellent product and highly recommend it!

You may also want to consider the GE Harmony as well as nwesterner mentions. The Harmony seems to get glowing reviews from owners on this forum and elsewhere. It does not seem to have all the problems the Oasis has.

Nwesterner, Whether the Harmony is better that the Cabrio or Bravos (which both seem to get better reviews than the Oasis), I'm not sure. I have no experience with the Harmony, only the Bravos.

Also worth checking out are the Fisher and Paykel washers, which also seem to get great reviews here and elsewhere.

Lastly there is also the Haier Genesis, another HE TL washer that I do not know anything about other than it's existence, but it's another option. Hope this helps! Good luck with your move and let us know what you decide to buy!! :o)

I've had my Cabrio HE for 10 months with no problems and no signs of rust. I have the one with the glass lid and there is nothing on the lid that could rust. Bleach splashed on the metal might cause problems (as with any machine) but I can't say since I don't use bleach. I have never had a problem with water leaking or splashing either. So where was your rusted mutta? I did use a flashlight to check inside and under the top edge of my machine and I just can't see any where it could rust, there is not exposed metal, and no sealed metal that should come in contact with water. Maybe the design on the Oasis was a bit different.

Never mind mutta, I was just looking at Mary's pictures and I can see what is different.
