Don't make basketball bets with DavidLakeguy

Psssst.....if you ever want to make a side bet with a forum member for food goodies, don't pick davidlakeguy. Really. You'll feel ripped off. Shhhhh I'm keeping him all to myself, bwahahaha.

Right before the Laker/Thunder NBA playoff series, I made a bet with David as to who would win - the winner would send a 'flat rate box of goodies'. My intention was a SMALL flat rate box, maybe three or four items at the most, a token acknowledgement of his/her team's superior abilities. Little did I expect the largess I received upon the Laker's ascension to the next playoff!

I am so touched by his impressive generosity that I suggested we make another bet on the finals, and this time HE gets to pick the winner. Please hope I lose, whichever team he picks, so I can return the favor!

I just had to share what he sent me - from left to right, back row:

Tupelo honey - from Georgia - 'tastes buttery and melts on your tongue. [I'm going to have fun with that one] Harvested for a few days each April, it is one of the rarest and most valuable honeys in the world'. I'm saving this one for me!

'Mema's Authentic Habanero salsa' - from OK City. This one I'll share with DH and DS#1 because they both like heat! I love regional stuff.

Smoking spice BBQ seasoning - another Tulsa product, and it seems to be close to my beloved and now gone Nedra D's, also from a forum member - legallin. Yeah, a replacement!

The package with the red ribbon is dark chocolate hearts. Fighting off the kids for that one.

See that little bottle with the 'G' on it? That's a double forum gift. TeresaNCs son is an owner in that company - website http://g3sauce.com. Good to support your fellow forumer's families (say that three times fast)! Oh, it's a steak sauce. We do a LOT of grilling and steaks so this one will be used up quickly.

The bottle with the purple label - oops, I hid it - is a Cabernet and Roasted Garlic marinade. That one is destined for a leg of lamb. Or two. Hey it's from California. I'll forgive him for that.

Next up is 'Slap Ya Mama' Cajun Seasoning. Are you sure you didn't steal this from Riverrat? [busted. I have a box from her too.....I gotta post that one....I'm bad...]

From Broken Arrow, David's real home town - 'Rooster Booster. Poor bird, being shot out of a cannon. This one will replace my Penzeys' 4S stash for my beer can chickens, made on the beer can ceramic baker that I got from KatieC in a swap.

From Tulsa again, Twisted Chile Orange Szechwan Glaze (tons of OK stuff! and not 'alright' OK, State of OK!) This one is going on chicken tenders for our Chinese nights.

The most precious commodity of the box is on the right - you all KNOW what that is. The sticky on the table next to it says 'MY LAST JAR OF H-GOLD...LOL!' I might just send this back. I can't keep it. Too precious! Come on Lakers, lose.

Hiding in the back is a pretty set of napkins. That will go well with one of the gadgets David sent, next row....

Second row, in front:

Cookies: Live from Tulsa, OK - Moose chips, gluten free. Please support these people - www.carleesglutenfree.com - I think more and more of us are becoming gluten intolerant; it's the peanut allergy epidemic of the day. Plus, Whole Foods carries them, and I just gotta give a national chain a shout out for supporting a local business. These were yummy!

Two packages of biscuits for cheese by Daelia - David, are they local? Can't find the info. Oh well, DH got them, since we are cheese lovers. Hazelnut with figs, and Almond with Raisin.

From Rhode Island, well, at least we know one forum member from there, lor316, so it counts as 'local' heh heh - Gerbs Pumpkin seeds! Good game munchies!

Gadget #1, destined for my tool box: a pepper and tomato corer (the red handle). This one is so timely because I just bought a stainless still grill rack for jalapeno peppers. I am careful to remove EACH and EVERY SEED since I am so delicate, I know this will help!

Plaintain chips - one of my snacks of choice. I love plantains! More game food!

Gadget #2: last but not least - in front, the silver toy - I couldn't figure this one out until David told me it had to do with a recent thread by Shaun about 'peeling' certain items - I am an enabler when it comes to getting some people to 'peel' their garbanzos - and I have to admit I googled the text on the side, 'Pal-Ed' - turns out this is a falafel scoop. I thought I was going to put this one in the 'other' toolbox, snort. Sigh, it will have to stay in the kitchen and will be used for food. Ya know, I've never made Falafel before - I don't fry well. Looks like having the right tool will help!

So thank you very much David - - it has been a pleasure - you have chosen, for the finals, Boston to win - I am wearing green today and every game to add good luck for the Celtics, hopefully I can add mojo and reciprocate with a box back to you! Yes I'm a traitor to my city but this way I have both bases covered LOLOL!
